This stemmed from something I noticed - some odd blips on a private seismogram and which - I went to find on the Alaska real time seismograms - but could not.

Take a look at the thread here.

This spurred me to see what else was down in the world.

The real time IRIS network is currently showing 2094 siesmo stations. (Realtime Stations)

Of these some are not up to date by which I mean the data stops before today whereas it should be only a few minutes behind current time. This may be because they are broken - that should be the reason BUT I have noticed recently that some stations are always behind. One I like to look at is MGOD - God's own repeater site - in the AV network. For quite some time now this has been consistently 'out of date', i.e. NOT real time,

The total numbers of seismograph stations not offering up to the minute data from that list is 145. Of that 145 only these 9 stations are NOT in the US

ALL OF THE REST - all 107 in total are in Alaska (I won't list them all - too long)

The thing is that they are between 8 and 14 days behind and they stay that way. This is not what I call real time.

What is going on?

Any thoughts anyone?

so these stations are purposely delaying the information? is that what you're saying?

The government seems to always turn the sensors or radar, or whatever off
either just before, or during a false flag, or natural disaster...

Could floods or twisters have anything to do with it?
or is it like the radiation sensors?
turned off because they are reading something?

or are they hiding info someone could be liable for...?
like the weight of the flooding created by the releases causing siesmic damage
maybe the damage caused by fraking?

I look forward to what your thread turns up PM...

Possibly Chuck Norris is doing pushups in the area?
Remeber when he accidentally punched that oil tanker while doing the australian crawl accross the the straights of Hormuz, and some claimed it was an earth quake for a bit?
(LOL)

Hey there Puterman, thank you for passing this info on to us.

It's quite strange to see the results having this much gapping going on. I'm just getting my system back together after a major hardware upgrade and haven't been able to check what's been going on EQ wise in the world for the past couple of weeks, but i HAVE noticed that there seems to be fewer getting listed.

I wonder if this is why?

Anyhow, I'll do some chcking of my own stuff and see what happens. Thanks again!

That seems to be the size of it yes.

They should be available in minutes but are being delayed by days.

I can understand why the ones in alaska might be down...they're probably in somewhat remote locations and I'm guessing don't get much maintenance...but as for the ones in idaho i really have no idea why...unless they are in remote locations as well and don't get much maintenance either maybe? It does seem rather strange though...but I guess you can never tell with faulty equipment so who knows

come to think of it though...since they are still reporting data they couldn't be broken...that's very strange...maybe the data form those ones have to be delivered by hand? and somebody only goes out once every week or 2 possibly?

No this is not a maintenance issue. The stations are working. The data is being delayed. See these measurement figures from one example
The available measurements are thus:

Measurement Avail. Date Range
Daily Signal RMS 2009.239 to 2011.108
Daily Signal Mean 2009.239 to 2011.108
Daily Percent Availability 2009.239 to 2011.146
Number of Gaps Per Day 2009.239 to 2011.146
Number of Overlaps Per Day 2009.239 to 2011.146
Overall timing signal quality 2009.240 to 2011.146
Max Overlap 2009.239 to 2011.146
Max Gap 2009.239 to 2011.146

2011.146 is yesterday so this is normal. Measurements are being taken

But the data only goes up to 2011.135 which is the 15th May

Data Day file size (bytes) Collection System
2011.135 7,760,384 BUD
2011.134 9,358,848 BUD
2011.133 7,695,360 BUD
2011.132 7,373,312 BUD
2011.131 7,913,984 BUD
2011.130 7,754,240 BUD
2011.129 9,381,888 BUD
2011.128 7,828,992 BUD
2011.127 8,241,152 BUD

Availability, mean gaps overlaps etc all current to yesterday as you would expect them to be, but the data is not.

Oh the drama. j/k

Most AK (Alaska Regional Network) stations are up and running fine, no delays. I just confirmed this in GEE prior to making this post. See for yourself and open GEE, add to network, and load em up. Their reports are on par with other seismic networks, and do not appear to be on any kind of delay. The usual delay of 30 seconds to two minutes (a/d conversion/digitizer, network overhead) is present, just like all other networks.

Occasionally I might see a lag behind station on some networks. Now as to the AV network (Alaska Volcano Observatory) reports from your other thread, have you confirmed the events at other stations, at all? Even one? Or are you saying that some seismicity is present at MGOD, but yet possibly being delayed and even edited out at another station?

What exactly are you saying? Cause AK is up, no problems other than a few stations being down- which have been for a while now.

As budget cuts and priority of resources becomes paramount, if it were you and me running a network, what would we do? Probably reduce area coverage by choosing to keep the most strategically located stations up first. S and P wave differences can still be calculated further from the sources, but are less accurate. That wouldn't be an unreasonable compromise, given no other real choice. We'd have to drop or leave unmaintained some stations.

AT (Alaska Tsunami Warning Center) network has some stations down, but the ones up are also working properly. Most networks need center calibrations, which don't get done enough imo. Especially when they can do it remotely on most if not all.

I recently sent an email to the AK team, asking why AK.HOM was freaking out and plunging into crazy numbers, and also asking for an explanation of why seismos do that sometimes. I got no response from the employees of my tax dollar at all. Instead, within a few hours someone pushed a button and the station returned to center.

I haven't checked on Idaho, so not sure about them. But if I were you I'd just pop up the networks in GEE, and you will know within minutes.

No MGOD is normally, or I should say WAS normally available to get seismograms until a few months ago but now the 'realtime' data is 8 to 14 days behind. MGOD is currently running at 2011.139

It is NOT AK it is AV.

Most if not all of those you list are listed in GEE in the station chooser. And most should be EHZ channels, correct? But now I do recall, actually, that I have not been getting AV stations for quite a while either. I kind of really forgot about it and haven't used AV network much in quite a lot of months.

But yes, I can't jack on AV network, no matter what channels I try. How about sending them an email, and seeing what's up? They might even answer you. Imagine that.

You think they will answer a foreigner? Sure I will try but the point is that does not detract from the fact that these wer available and now are being delayed. The fact that all of these are on volcanoes might be of some significance perhaps?

Could someone please explain since all of this is over my head. Are you saying that earthquake monito sensors are either shut off or the information is being delayed for some reason. For instance if there were an earthquake some where in thr US it wouldn't be reported for 2 weeks. Therefore the only was to know that it occured by live witnesses if the info was allowed to be reported on.

Not shut off no. All I am saying that the publicly available information which was being released immediately in real time is now not being released until 8 to 14 days later. It is still being collected but this is an important area as it has all the volcanoes that go in a line across to Japan. Since volcanic quakes are not usually very large most of these will not show on other networks thus whilst the seismologists can see what is going on we can not, and we were able to.

maybe it's a conspiracy!

no but seriously...maybe it is. i'm still on the fence about the whole HAARP thing but i'm leaning towards it being something bad. but i know that i've read a lot of posts talking about HAARP going "offline" right before and during some recent natural disasters/incidents.

are they trying to censor what we know is going on? i mean...that wouldn't make any sense??? why wouldn't they want the people to know what's going on? surely they want us to know the truth...

why wouldn't they want the people to know what's going on?

In this case seeing as there is a chain of volcanoes which these monitor they might not want us to see volcanic seismic activity, or that is the way it seems to me. Volcanic quake being smaller as I said this is something they can easily hide.

And then on the AK network you get seismograms like this at Baker Lake. No idea where that is. BRLK.AK..BHZ.2011.147

This is interference or possible heaters if this is in a cold place. Pretty isn't it!!
