It's a sad world... but this shouldn't surprise anyone really. She was charged, that is good; but I'll hold the hope that she'll get life in a supermax prison in the same pile as my hope for Obama fulfilling campaign promises (sry, shouldn't bring him into this but...)

Let's see, everyone knows that evidence disappears all the time from police custody. If you think the worst child porn collections are not owned by some of the people with access then I think you need to have your head examined... Cops do it all the time... the only strange thing about this is that it was done by a women.

how can they pass the psycological evaluation when they apply to become a cop
dont they have any kind of way to filter someone
Can you really ever know someone? Do you think any scientific test really has the ability to determine what some one will and wont do at a future time? Can you tell me that you've never had a perverted thought of any type at any time in your life? Not plausible. Should a person should be punished for their thoughts, or when they act on those thoughts?

this cop need to be put in prison .. he will get a beatdown everyminute of his remaining life
not for being a cop but for abusing a child
The cop was female.

What saddens me, what really saddens me, is that of all the posts about this I saw one, just one post make mention of and refer to her victims in this.

That is the crime here, not that she was a cop, it would still be just as disgustingly sick if she were a housewife our a teacher; the real crime and what should be the immediate concern and focus of all are the children themselves.

It crushes my soul to think of the physical and psychological damage now done to them.
Damage that will likely haunt then for most of their life and their relationships they may have if they ever even find themselves able to.

You can't just look at then and tell then "It's alright now, it's over." I know I couldn't.
I can't even fathom how you would begin to help these children after this.

I have to disagree. But then, I'm always against the death penalty in any situation. Though i have to admit, there's a bit of poetic irony in the notion of a cop being killed by the state, it's still not a notion I'll buy into. Killing someone isn't justice, it's revenge (and uncreative revenge, at that.) Further, putting life-and-death authority into the discretion of unelected officials of the state who tend to see cops like this crazy bitch as being their "team mates" seems.... well, it seems self-defeating.

Put her away, give her some meds, and have her write books about crocheting or something.

Well, that's exactly it; what can you say? I think everyone here has nothing but sympathy for the harm done to these kids and their families. However, what can you really say about that? Anything said about it would just seem a little hollow and more self-congratulatory than anything, particularly on some crazy internet forum that these folks will probably never see.

I have lurked around ATS since early 2000's, only became a member a few years ago...but just look at the past year or 2. This is getting insane. Literally!!

Did something happen in the departments within the past few years Ive missed? I mean what the heck is going on these days?

Even though I don`t live in the US I can without doubt say that its society thats getting worse, which includes the police force.

I`m about 50 and thirty years ago was like utopia compared to today imo,I have reasons of why this is though wont get off topic here.

She will one day get what she deserves and I wish the best for the children and their future.

Yeah, that's it I guess. You just see so much of the crazy on these forums then on a post like this you begin to wonder if no one really feels anything for the children, just the hate for the..whatever she is which doesn't deserve a title.

I dunno just hit a nerve with me, but you are right, really, what can you say.

What is it with today and bad-cop stories? In addition to the ones already floating around on the board today, I just now came across this charming tale:

And I won't even post the story about the 2 NY cops being acquitted of rape. I've read the whole story in multiple articles and the whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Two New York City Police Officers Acquitted of Rape

Hell cops get away with murder all the time, so why not rape?

how does that story stink? and do you know they did the rape, where you there? i bet you were not. Yea cops are people and people can be sick.

IMO molesting a child (and I'll qualify that by saying a child under 12) SHOULD carry the death penalty.

I can't think of any crime more horrendous that stealing a child's innocence. In some ways, it is worse than murder. If you think about it, that child will have to live with what was done to them for the rest of their lives, and many will never recover. I don't have time to go looking for statistics right now, but anecdotal evidence is rife with accounts of victims of molestation turning to drugs, alcohol, or cutting to relieve the psychic pain they have to endure every day.

Further, most prostitutes and porn stars were molested as kids: Not a very bright future if they even survive the self-destructive activities in which they indulge; and some don't, ending up as victims of suicide.

On the offenders, they never stop at one child either. Most molesters are serial offenders, so until they are stopped - COLD - they will continue to victimize children.

So yeah, hang 'em high and save a child.

The fact that I have a a daughter, step-daughter, and two granddaughters (who are the age of the victims in this case) might have something to do with my attitude.

One of the great cop defenses that always rears its ugly head is the great battery of testing they must grow through inclusive of the all mighty psychological profile/exam.

Not a direct quote but one of our local cop posters said something along the lines of: "you think being a cop is like getting a job at Walmart when we have to go through 12-18 months of testing, interviewing, and training just to get a shot at the job."

Well, lotta good all that seems to be, huh?

Here's another nice one from yesterday: K-9 Starved to death, suffered for months

I cant help but wonder what these beasts would be like without all this rigorous testing and training.

I'd rather refer to crimes like this as "evil" than as "sick". Sick implies a "cure" or a lack of responsibility on the part of the criminal. I'd imagine that this person may have been abused somehow as a child, then possibly found their flavor of porn that fed an eventual "lifestyle" choice. This type of excuse might be used as a defense, but ultimately a moral choice was made to break the law. Being in law enforcement, I'm sure she must have understood right from wrong, right? Or maybe she is a "wise guy" that understands that the law is for suckers, AKA the law abiding citizens.

I don't think this has anything to do with her deficiencies as a cop, or as a Marine for that matter. It has everything to do with her deficiencies as a human being.

All I can say is, this police department's pre-employment background screening
is sorely lacking.

It's more that the public puts too much faith in background screenings.

Most people take it for granted that cops, having gone through numerous interviews, profiles, background checks and investigations, polygraphs, etc... , are somehow to be trusted more than the general population.

All of that testing is well and good for past problems and current issues but it does nothing for latent or future issues.

Any number of things from physical trauma to resurfacing inadequacies to improper handling of stress can effectively break a mind. Any mind. It just so happens that police work, being what it is, exposes the officer to a hella lot of factors that would exacerbate any unseen issues.

It's almost guaranteed that any individual exposed to these things long enough will develop issues. Which is why statistically divorces, alcoholism, assaults and depression exist at much higher levels among the "law enforcement" population than the general population.

If they werent sick going in they'll be sick coming out.

Which is why nobody should be doing the job. Especially not for years on end.

We're going about "law enforcement" all wrong as a society.

I noticed that it said she sent the video to a boyfriend she met on a fetish website. While the Internet can be a wonderful tool for people to exchange creative thoughts and ideas it also has it's dark side! In the old days sicko pedophiles tried to lurk in the shadows, but today they are hooking up in Internet chatrooms and actually SUPPORTING each other's sick fantasies! Pedophiles look and act just like everyone else, and if it surprises people that a cop or a woman could be one then they need to read the news more!
It is sad that we can't trust anybody anymore when it comes to our children. Used to be it was just "watch the kids around weird Uncle Joe" but now we can't even trust our pastors and police officers with our children. How sad for all of us! How sad for the children!

Agreed. I don't think any amount of counseling and psychiatry can un-do what she did to these children. The lives as they knew it, were taken from them. Yeah, they will physically still be here. But they will never be the same.
An eye for an eye.
