Police: Daughter shoots dad with arrow over cell phone

www.kare11.com

TAHUYA, Wash. -- Authorities in Washington state say they're arrested a teenage girl for allegedly shooting her dad with an arrow after he took her cell phone away.

Mason County detective William Adam says the man told officers that his 15-year-old daughter used a hunting bow to shoot him Wednesday evening after he grounded her and took the phone.

This level of violence from a teenager for something as small as being grounded from your cell phone for a while is completely crazy!! What is wrong with people these days?

She runs off into the wood with the bow and arrows and is surrounded by a swat team and arressted. What the H?? She is 15!! What in the world could have possesed her to do something like this?!

More and more people are becoming addicted to all these toys and are responding violently when they are taken away.

Ever watch the video of the Kid who completely freaks out after his mom canelled his WOW account? Now the kids are attacking their parents. This is getting ridiculous.

There must be something wrong with her. She needs help if she thinks this is an appropriate response to being grounded and losing your cell phone.

Well, I wonder if she realizes now, that because of her actions, she is now going to be " grounded" for a REALLY long time, with no cell phone... And by grounded, I mean jail.

because kids today forget what a land line is. and how to walk to a friends house. they grow up with their cell phones being an extension of themselves. pretty messed up.

taking a kids phone away is like taking away their entire social life.

She deserves a really long time! In my opinion anyway. All it says is that her father is in serious condition. It doesn't say where he was shot, so I am thinking it will depend on what happens with him.

This happened pretty close to me. More info. Father & daughter lived alone. he got custody a couple of years ago. he is thought of as a very nice guy trying to do his best.

Girl shot the Dad and then kept the phone away from him so he could not call 911. He crawled out a window, got to his car, and drove to a neighbors to seek help. She ran into the woods with this hunting crossbow. SWAT team surrounded her and arrested her. Father is at Harborview (closest trauma center in Seattle). Girl is at Mary Bridge children's hospital in Tacoma for some medical issue (despondancy? Hysteria?)

Tahuya is mostly rural in Mason County. Known for lots of drugs ala meth. Don't know if that's an issue this time, just sayin' that's the rep of the area. It's being reported here locally. I'll add if I find out anything substantive.

I have 3 kids. Two of them are 13 and 12 (the thirs is 5). While all their friend are *constantly* "busy" with their phones and crap, my kids also have phones, but they mostly FORGET them home (lol, and I bought them phones in case we need to call them ...) and they don't give a RAT'S BEHIND about cell phones, nor facebook nor any other social media crap.

They also don't shoot at me with bows or shotguns ...

So, what's the difference between my kids and this crazy chick or any other kids here around for that matter ...?

Oh, I don't know ... might have something to do with the upbringing and BELIEF maybe...?

The fact that she kept the phone from her father and would not allow him to call 911...says a lot to me.....she will probably do time in a juneinile facility....if her father dies...she may eventually end up in prison...obviously.no one wins here...

Found this link with a little more info

www.sltrib.com...

The teenager shot her father in the torso around 8 p.m. at their home in the Tee Lake area of Tahuya, about 35 miles west of Seattle. She then prevented her father from calling for help, Adam said.

The man crawled out of his house and called 911 from a neighbor's home. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

And this one

readingeagle.com...

A Special Weapons and Tactics team surrounded the girl in the woods and arrested her for investigation of first-degree assault. The girl was not injured but was taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital because she was despondent, Adam said.

The man has sole custody of the girl and is apparently her only relative in the area, where they have lived for at least eight years, Adam said. Her mother lives out of state and has no contact with the girl.

Authorities had not yet been able to interview the girl or get more information from the father on Thursday.

Glad I didn't have weapons in my house when my then 15 year old daughter refused to hand over her cell phone and started physically pushing me away. I had to put her to the floor and sit on her for half an hour.. still she refused to comply with the parental directive.

The problem is simple.. Children think they should have Adult Rights and do whatever they want when they want.

They refuse to see that they are still children.. their actions prove their lack of maturity.. yet they do not see it.

Youth Culture has progressed over the past 30 years into an Instant Gratification culture, one where they have all the power to pester their parents and expect no consequences for their actions.

Youth Culture hates Authority of any sort... particularly parental authority... so they fight it all the way to their own detriment.

One day they will grow up, they may even mature into productive and positive adults.. if they live that long

I see abusive behaviours in the youth from these past 30 years.. I tried to warn people that this is where it was heading.. but everyone told me I was "too old fashioned and need to get up with the times".

Pfftt!! Now all they can do is complain. They brought it on themselves.. we are all respnsible for what Youth Culture has become today. It is all of us who allowed it to get like this.

she became obsessed and dependent on it. Like a drug addict to a drug. And in the same case when somebody takes that thing from you, they react in an often violent and unusually noncharacteristc way because of the mental hold that THING has on them.....

Yea that was the worst part. Most kids after seeing their parents in agonizing pain would immediately snap out of any anger they have even if they did the harm and try to " right the wrong" and help by calling 911 themselves and admitting what they did.....

She wanted him to suffer and even after she did that she still wanted him to suffer more. What a horrible person.

Age should not matter. 3 of the most horrible , evil people I've met in my life have been children under the age of 12... seriously I feel bad saying it. but in all cases it had to do with their upbringing and their parents or one parent not disciplining them and them allowing them to do what they want.

I wonder what made the dad get custody over the girl in the first place.

really irritates me when parents start laying crap on about upbringing, and belief..cause their kids haven't been a problem YET.

Your kids are still young..so choose your words wisely.

I've seen too many parents brag about the upbringing of their kids, only to have it explode in their faces later on.

As far as this whole story goes..its really sad.

I'm sure the father doesn't want to see the girl get sent off to prison, but wow..the fact that she held back the phone from him as well..thats serious stuff. But she was obviously out of her mind with emotional hysteria at the time.

Excellently explained! I agree with you! I didn't get my own cell phone until I was 17 and had a job to pay for it myself. I never became addicted to them and hardly use mine still today. People are always telling me I need to upgrade my phone and get all this cool stuff. I'm like Why? I wouldn't use it and would be wasting money. The phone does what its purpose is, to talk to someone if I need to.

She had to have been. If not then she is obviously a sadist. What other explanation could there be for her to actively keep him from getting help? She is either insane or she wanted to watch him suffer. Possibly both.

Or maybe neither. maybe just a young girl hooked on something,,wether it be drugs or a relationship..and she lost her sense of rational perspective.

Ever see what a 5 year old can do, when they don't get their way??

watch super nanny sometime..wow !!
...and she never refers to them as sadists ..or insane.

I see a few parents here and there talking about their great kids.. and that kids who aren't behaving great do so because of bad parenting, etc.

Very few understand the most critical thing about kids..... that there are two basic kinds of kids.

1. Malleable Children:- These are the ones who obey rules, who are a delight to raise most of the time. They will take on board what their parents say and alter their behaviours accordingly.

Parents of these kids have no idea how easy they really have it.

2. Ruthless Children:- These are the ones who push the limits all the time, who pester 24/7/365, who refuse to follow rules, who are totally focused on Me, Me, Me to the detriment of anyone else except their friends. Their sole focus is on getting what they want, when they want it. They are extremely intelligent in most cases and use that intelligence for Manipulation.

Parents of these kids go grey early from the incredible amount of stress involved in rasing them. A "good" parent with these types of kids will Love them enough to go the hard yards with them.. and will try at every turn to find a way to deal with them more effectively. There is little support for these Parents.

Yeah but I see a big difference between a spoiled 5 year old who throws fits becasue they dont want to go to bed or whatever and 15 year old who shoots their parent with an arrow. Though I suppose she could have been throwing those kinds of fits when she was younger and it progressed to extreme violence now that she is older. Who knows.

have you ever seen how violent some of those kids get when they have a tantrum..they could seriously injure a sybling and have.

My point is ,that people in an extreme emotional response..just don't act rationally at times..

Its wrong..yes..but does it mean they are sadistic..no..

Totally insane..no

Well yes I didn't say that she is sadistic or insane. Replying to your first extreme emotional response comment. I said Yes she must be and then either that or she could be sadistic or insane or possibly both.

Sorry if there was confusion witht that I was just giving other possible options of what made her act this way.

The sadistic comment came from the fact that she kept her father from getting help intentionally. Seeming like she enjoyed watching him suffer. But since there is no comment from the girl yet all we can do is speculate
