What would be the punishment if one passes through the gates or signs at Groom Lake?
Would it be like 1 year in Federal prison? Or, just a simple fine?

Remember what happened to Osama...no just kidding...they just run you off and if you get a second opps..well then you get to go to Clark County Detention for a night or so until they (feds) decide if you are a holagan or actually pose a threat to their security. What happens beyond that would be interesting to hear if someone has a tale to share!

Just like children, sometimes people need to learn and figure stuff out on their own. No big deal.
2nd line.

I dont not think that they will do nothing nowadays.
There are no more cammo dudes or signs either

Area 51 is NOT secret anymore.

That youtube video was from a long time ago.

I think one can go up to the base and take pics and videos as much as they want.

go ahead and then post your pics for us to see.

Area 51 is not secret, it STILL doesnt exist! (according to our government)

I think its funny you can be literally touching a sign that says You Are Now Officially in Area 51 but the government will still say it doesn't exist.

Area 51 is just the public face of the real facility, S4

The dudes are still there.

I was told Groom Lake has those "bots" like the NTS by a Rachel resident, but no photographic proof was provided.

The weather was crappy, so I didn't do a Tikaboo. The wind stirred up a lot of dust, so don't expect any good viewing for a few weeks.

It's not just going on near the gates to Area 51 .. it’s all over the surrounding area I have friends who live near bye and even around Gallup and Albuquerque New Mexico. I should get this one al to see if she can find any information about this.. but ya have to remember those who live there are reluctant to say anything ..

They don’t want to draw any government attention to themselves,, so most of the UFO believers down that way keep many of their thoughts to personal friends and family .. I Lived not to far from New Mexico and or Nevada and I went road tripping many times .. talked to people camping out over by Palm Springs also .. yeah the campsites are awesome to get the chance to sit and talk about UFO's and all that stuff lots of fun times.. I wish to go back that way some day soon .. It will be for a golden Birthday is the plan .. And I want to camp out instead of being in a motel ..

We should all write emails to Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear, and ask him to come to America, rent a Calloway Corvette that has Nitrous, and Drive past the Caution mark as fast as he can.

His goal then will be to get as far into Groom Lake as he possibly can before the PoPo gets too close then he needs to do a 180 and haul azz outa there and try to get away from them.

That....would be epic!

People seem to believe the signs mean they have a right to shoot you. I hear this in just about every documentary on TV or interview with someone that has no clue what they're talking about. Every Air Force installation that has ANY restricted area (Priority A, B or C) has the same WARNING sign that includes "Use of deadly force is authorized". But I can tell you from my 10 years experience as an Air Force security specialist (or SP... now called SF for security forces), that the chances of any SF personnel ever taking a shot at you is slim - unless you are within close proximity of what's protected and have 'opportunity and capability' to damage or steal something sensitive. Even then, SF personnel are instructed to use the minimum amount of force necessary to prevent access or sabotage. If you're banging on one of the hanger doors with a sledge hammer and don't stop when security gets there, at that point you might get shot. But discharging a round purposely in peace time on an Air Force installation is something that almost never happens.

Please tell me no one here believes in the whole Bob Luzar "S4" garbage. Area 51 is a lot of things, but it was never a place where our government reverse engineering "other-worldly" spacecraft. The more recent 'unclassified' documentaries and books are a bit more accurate; The based was primarily set up to test U2, A12 (SR 71), F117, B2, and through Black projects. Hard to say what they're developing now, but I can tell you that not everything is being developed at Area 51 any longer. Take a look in Google Earth at Michael AAF and check the history of those images. In the last five years, they've re-paved another very long runway next to an adjacent more commercial sized runway. Considering the nature of that base in the past, it's very remote and not many people are going to trek through an area that was once a test site for chemical and biological weapons.

I'm not going to make any claims one way or the other.

I'm also not military.

However - - - one word: "compartmentalization"

You've been given a publicly known specific title. You are and know what you are supposed to.

I don't know why. All I do know is that I am going there in a cpl months to do just that!

As well as grab a picture by the white "black" mailbox, the black gate and to grab an Alein Ale at the Little Ale'in in Rachel, NV.

All on the way the annual Star Trek convention in Vegas.

A geek-fest double feature for that weekend

nope just a dry desert with 2 idiot guards and a bunch of motion censors

I drive up to the gate to ask the guards if they will help me find my puppy, and then to offer them some candy.

Its quite satisfying.

There's nothing very exciting in Area 51 anyways, just some planes. I never got what the big deal was about it.

We're going to be in Vegas in July, and plan on driving up there one of the days. It's a "photo op" drive. We'll do the tourist thing and get our picture take under the ET Highway sign, etc. We'll also hit the burger joint, and then head to the warning sign. Other than that, we don't expect to see a damn thing, but figured that since we're close, we'll go. It's like the people who drive up Trail Ridge Road through Estes every year. They are all pulled off, getting photos of stuff that I grew up around, and don't think twice about. In my opinion, it's just another elk herd that I'll be hunting in the fall. HA!

I live in Las Vegas and have made the trip to Rachel many times over the years. Most of what is stated here is true. There isn't much of anything going on out there MOST of the time. I've camped the dry lake bed across the road every time. Cool place to shoot guns and do awesome donuts and powerslides. I have seen tons of really cool aircraft doing manuevers from F-15's, F-16's, F-22's (years ago before they we common knowledge), B1B's and I've seen plenty of security helos especially after our target practice sessions begin.

But most remakably we have witnessed manuevers of foreign aircraft there as well. Such as the French Mirage, British Tornado, even Russian MiG-29's and Su-27's. Also, over the years my wife and I have gotten friendly with two different older couples who run the Little A'le'inn. Between both couples, they all insist there is NO military base there at all.

I am familiar with the local geography and the locale of the nearby "legitimate" military installations such as Indian Springs, Nellis Gunnery Range, Nellis AFB, etc. The flight patterns of the aircraft I have seen in Rachel are not indicative of originating or terminating at these locations. So, there is certainly SOMETHING there. I've been to the base perimeter, seen the orange markers, have pictures of the signs, camo dudes (still there as of Nov. 2010) and listening devices. I don't think anyone would place all of those assets in the middle of nowhere to impress a few wandering sightseers.

I find the fact that the couples deny any existence of a base peculiar. Also, if the government is experimenting with foreign aircraft and presumably captured state-of-the-art Russian aircraft, that leads me to believe that IF an alien craft were "captured" it probably would end up at good ole Area 51.

P.S.
The "Janet Jets" are very real. I see them taking off and landing at McCarran everyday.
