Gaza: Egypt 'to open Rafah crossing to Palestinians'!!

From what i've read and seen about israel, i can imagine they are the type of people to just shoot anyone and everyone that appose israel or "Put its national security in danger".....

If they feel suitably threatened, yes, you are correct. i expect some rockets to land in an empty parking lot, and all hell with break loose.

Isn't that the truth.

"Hamas" will fire a rocket into an empty parking lot, "miraculously" no one will be injured, and then Israel will carpet-bomb a Palestinian neighborhood and kill 800 civilians in response.

and nobody will mess with them because they will have the protection of the US and ultimately the UK because we all know how the UK sticks with the US

We all know that the status quo was not going to be sustainable. Regardless of America's influence. Israel has brought it upon itself that this opportunity is going to be exploited by Hamas to smuggle (Iranian) weapons into Gaza.

Israel should ask itself what it could do best to preserve its right to exist in the long-term. The US is about to go down economically-wise and in a decade or so, they will not be able to protect Israel in the UN security council. People are fed up, they are not going to swallow it for ever. Israel needs realize that tough concessions must be made in order to preserve its country. For that, it needs to abandon all illegal settlements, but that's not what Israel wants. These settlements (at least the vast majority) was built to stay. The Israeli government would have to deal with hundreds of thousands of furious settlers - and most of them are dangerous extremists. Not a fun problem.

However, it's that or the risk of getting under serious attack by Palestinian terrorist groups that increasingly grow stronger. If the Palestinians are shown that Israel is genuinely interested in state and allow the Palestinian state to flourish, the people of Palestine will see no reason to support terrorist groups like Hamas. That's the only way to exterminate terrorism.

I hope Israel realizes that, because it's not going to be fun when they are out on their own and it's become too little too late for negotiations.

What will give Israel peace though? Every time they have given up land they have been attacked. The very day after the partition in 1948 they were attacked. Attacked again in 1967 and again, and again. Every time they have conceded land they have been attacked. So what makes folks think that if they give up land now for a 2 state solution that they will have defensable borders? Who is going to guarentee that safety? The UN? The US?

something needs to be officialy drawn up, kinda like the North korea/ South korea DMZ, draw a line in the sand, this is your side and this is your side, now stop fighting or the whole world will come and bitch slap you....

Thats about the best solution. A comprehensive peace signed by all the world powers stating that no matter which side starts something then they will have to deal with everyone else.

That would just be a situation where one side would merely have to stage a fake attack and claim it was perpetrated by the other.

With corporate media in your pocket especially it would be very easy to do.

Well i guess the bigger question is will this really happen in the first place? Evidently Egypt announced back in April that the border would open but then it didnt and now they are announcing it again. My guess is just like a lot of "deadlines" or "dates' that Saturday will come and go with nothing.

correct me if im wrong but isnt that how ww1 started? every body had allies and then the little ones started shenigans and brought every one else into it...ultimatiums like that never tend to go off well and usualy end in war

on topic well this is good for the people of palestine but i fear it will just bring the hammer down on them under the guise of border securty,and will directly for good or bad attack as they probaly view them as invaders and open fire on them not the egyptians or hell is the isralies they will probaly just build another huge wall and justify this by egypts actions on opening the border

and just a personal crack pot therory we all know the isralies dont like to be backed into a corner whats to stop them if they think the usa is giving up on them from selling all our secrets to china and asking them to be there new body gaurd because the old one gave up.from what i gather about my limited knowlege of political matters i could see how the benifits to china would outwheigh all the risks as then they would have a strong foothold in the middle east and access to all of our goodies that we have been giving the idf for years hope im wrong and just being parinoid but hey ya never know

Why not just create a palestinian state there instead? Makes just about the same amount of sense....none.

Well if you believe murphys law (anything that can go wrong will go wrong) a war is quite possible, the scale of the war? thats anyone guess.

Until i see this as a top news story on CNN, Fox, Reuters etc, then im not gonna worry too much about it.

In all honesty if something was really going to kick off i dont think they will show it right untill the last minute, i remember when britain went in to iraq they sprung it on the TV right at the last minute then the bombs were dropping.

I know the media does tend to dramatise stories a lot, making situations sound a lot more serious than they really are, but what concearns me the most is israels previous reaction to that aid boat trying to get past the blockade last year, if they were prepared and willing to do that what must they be prepared to do about this, this in my opinion is a much bigger threat to israel than 1 little boat

Yeah well thats not working in Lebanon now is it? Hesbolah is going against the U.N. by re-arming to a record level and the U.N. forces there don't do anything.

Israel will not let anyone put a large number of forces on their borders to stop fighting just because they smartly have no trust for anyone, even the U.S. when it comes to their existence.

The only country that would do it would be the U.S. but Israel wont allow it and we have been there before only to have the barracks bombings and other terrorist attacks. Not to mention we are very busy at the moment. Egypt will not attack Israel but Im sure Egypt will let the troops from other nations through to fight Israel.

The Egyptian army is to close with the U.S. forces for that to happen. Egypt is not mentioned in the Gog-Magog war, witch is the next one to occur. All these Arab nations having riots is to get more radical leaders in office for an attack on Israel. Egypt will sit out that fight but Libya, Iran, Sudan, Ethiopia, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Russia will not.

After the Gog-Magog war in witch Israel wins by using nukes on the invading armies will come Armageddon in witch ALL nations will then come against Israel.

Rafah's opening would be a violation of an agreement reached in 2005 between the U.S., Israel, Egypt,

Yeah, That means Egypt is not supposed to open the dam thing. Everyone knows it will be a smuggling fest for Hammas to bring in all kinds of weapons.

Israel just can not let a possible chemical weapon or worse to be smuggled in. They are a small nation that can not take big hits very long.
