Remember the "underwear bomber"? Or how about the "shoe bomber"?

Anyways a few posters made it clear that we have good bomb detection systems. Combine those with metal detectors and your idea of locking the cockpit door and giving the pilot a gun seems like it would be good enough.

Don't get me wrong I am not for getting searched unlawfully. I just wanted people here to be constructive and offer answers to the problem as apposed to just complaining.

I wonder why this is? Oh yeah, how could I forget? There is a black man in the WH whose name sounds nothing like James Johnson.

So if they can't search then how do you expect them to find the bombs? How are they supposed to insure our safety?

If they didn't search there would be people demanding these searches especially after a a few more 9/11's.

If anyone has any other alternative idea to these searches that would be just as effective, then please be my guest and post your idea here in this thread. If not then your whining about it is pointless.

Not only are you ignorant but you totally lack imagination as well. If I want to bring down a plane I would covertly pay the flight mechanics, baggage handlers, cleaning crews, pilots someone WITH ACCESS to the plane. This has happened in the past and is much more likely than some retarded shoe bomber.

Not to mention there are explosive material detectors and/or you can use dogs. Scanning the baggage ONLY will give you 99.9999% success rate in foilling some terrorist plot. Allowing perverts to pat you down or forcing people through x-ray scanners is totally uncalled for and unhealthy. Would you like going through that BS EVERYTIME you go flying??? I don't think so!

And let me explain a few things to you:
Texas is one of the states that goes for drill baby drill, so the reserves are present in the state of Texas. Texas is the largest supplier of Helium. Care to guess what the application of helium is for? It is used in all sorts of defense and commerial applications, and Texas has the biggest reserve. While Chevron may be in California, California will not allow for any sort of drilling what so ever, talk about red tape. California has the highest epa standards that any oil or gas company has to operate under. So Texas has the ace on that one, and a major component for military applications that are required. Texas is drilling for natural gas and more oil right now all over the state, so it is doing alot better ecconomically that California is doing.
The point is, that the Texas state Legislature could really put it to the federal government in a way that would force Obama and his team to call a meeting with the govenor of Texas and the department that has problems with the state to try to work it out.

Whinning about things helps prevent problems from getting exacerbated and it also raises the awareness level of the sheeple who would otherwise be uninformed. I fail to see why anyone would have a problem with this unless of course they are part of the problem themselves. Yes I suspect we have some status-quo pawns here or perhaps the PTB themselves under anonymous names.

In any case guns, baseball bats, knives, threats are a last resort solution and not a first resort solution.

Like good old Ben Franklin said: "Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."
That phrase has never been so relevant in history as it is today.

I had a friend that once told me, "you can't idiot-proof the World..you can make it idiot- resistant, but not idiot-proof".
He's right. If someone TRULY wants to get you they just may. But whatever entity is out there compelling us to push these somewhat invasive detection procedures are winning because many Americans are scared about attacks.
We need to stop being scared. Everything can't be prevented, and just about anything can be circumvented. We can try to plan for many, many scenarios but not all.
It might be a good idea for the US to look at the security systems of other countries that have been successful at detection but even they get hit at times. There are ways to be smart about stuff like this and I think the the USG is too hard-headed to look at the procedures of other countries and that is a shame.
Above all, we need to stop being scared.

What's a "state" supposed to do? oh I don't know! Maybe have a constitutional convention INSTEAD of a "presidential" election
Texas should just stand it's ground and tell the knuckleheads in Washington D C to pack sand ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! No fly zone over Texas? how would that work? I'm sure the FEDS wouldn't patrol the Southern border of the No-Fly! Are they talking a No-Fly like in Libya? Are the feds gonna invade Texas now and send they're oil to Brazil? The Feds just....... MAKE ........ ME........ SICK

Listen.
The people who you should be upset with aren't even on the floor. You know, the screeners are employess doing a really unpleasant job..not because they want to.
Not because they are perverts.
They have rent to pay, mouths to feed and would probably be rather doing something that is a lot less stressful.
The anger at THEM is terribly misplaced - they weren't the ones that crafted the policy.
If they weren't working they might be on welfare and folks would be griping about that.
You folks want to gripe? Gripe to the TSA official who is a lot further up the food chain that never sets foot in a terminal.
Gadz...

Who can prove that even having a TSA makes us any "safer"? With the way things are now, you don't even have to actually do anything violent to get the government to overreact and punish the citizens INSTEAD of the people who conduct aggressive operations against a high-profile target like a transportation system. How did the TSA help us at Fort Hood ? How does the TSA help us if there are state parks along our own border areas that we can't use because they've been "occupied" by foriegn nationals? Abolish the TSA, take that money, and we can buy more bombs to drop on the peoople that we KNOW hate us anyway!!!!!!

Oddly, before the TSA, security procedures from airport to airport were not standard. That's one of the issues the TSA was supposed to fix. However, I'm not sure it did, as I still noticed some discrepancies in procedures from airport to airport even after the TSA took over security. So I'm not really convinced they fixed anything.

I know there are security tests, where federal agents or people hired by federal agents pose as ordinary passengers and they try to smuggle various contraband past the security personnel. And of course they've found things like while the TSA guy was busy patting down some 6 year old, one of the "testers" was able to smuggle a knife through. They don't publicize the details of these reports AFAIK because they don't want the terrorists to know what the weak points are, but you do see articles about them talking in generalities.

Whoever has access to the details of these test results may be able to say if the TSA is doing better, but I don't have access.

I don't think calling the dude ignorant was very constructive; but I'll go along with the second part of the post.

I remembered there being bomb sniffing "portals" into which a traveler could step, and a puff of air would be introduced that would allow the machine to "sniff" for explosives. Hundreds of these machines were in use until scanner salesman Michael Chertoff decided HIS machines were better.

Ion sniffing explosive detector
More info from Wikipedia

These machines not only detect explosives, but drugs as well. Just like the puppies in the video below, which btw is the method the FBI uses to secure IT'S facilities - not intimidating in any way - which as you said are EXTREMELY effective. I had never seen an "inverted" image from one of these portable porn machines before until I came across this video. What I saw was graphic (for ATS) and very disturbing. I'd never let my mother, wife, or daughter be subjected to one of these scans. Remember, there is "nudity" in this video:

So IDK why (other than Chertoff's greed) the TSA is using these offensive technologies and techniques when there are cheaper, non-invasive, and more effective methods available of making us "safe from the terrorists," unless they are PURPOSELY trying to piss us off.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

Is this a threat?

I got 4 words for you?

DO YOU REMEMBER WACO?

All the Federal Government has to do is the following and Texas will be crushed in a month tops :
1. Cut off and seal off any shipping, interstate US Routes.
2. Put a pair of Navy detroyers and a pair of aircraft carriers in the Gulf and sink any ships coming in or out from the ports there.
3. Sequence with Mexico so that they give the Federal the ok to place boots and munitions on the Mexican side of the border.
4. Cutt of all Federal money!
5. Get up and sequence with New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas to seal off thier borders.
6. Locate and sieze any oil wells in the Gulf that have their pipes that run to the State!
7. Activate the Stuxnet virus to disable all state comminications and the state power grid.
8. Sequence with Google and any other internet provider to cut off all fibreoptic communication points and grids.
9. Disable any and all US Military installations located in Texas and suffocate them.

The question Austin seriously needs to ask themselves is "Do you really want to dance with The US Federal Government?".

And THAT is why I am from Texas, and you are not. Do you know ANYTHING about The Alamo? Because we lost. We remember the Alamo, because they fought to the death for what they believed in. they fought, when they knew they would lose. Blood, sweat, and tears, that sir/malm, is why we remember the Alamo.

That's because Texas doesn't care about the land, the enviornmental impact and will use any chance to make a quick buck as all Texas cares and worships is the almighty dollar. Hence why California has far superior countryside then Texas will ever as it's not been rapped and ravaged in order to make someone else richer.

You should know your history first, then you can twist them to suit your needs.

Tha Alamo was a battle in the TEXAS War for Independance. It wasn't even the last battle.. that was a bit later at San Jacinto.

www.thealamo.org...

Don't come on a thread filled with Texans and try to tell US what our history is.

I'll stand corrected there but it was Texas with help from The US Federal Government and The US Military.
