(CNN) -- A judge may decide Wednesday if Jared Lee Loughner is mentally competent to stand trial.

The Arizona man faces multiple charges -- including murder and attempted murder -- related to the January 8 mass shooting in a grocery store parking lot in Tucson.

Six people were killed in the shooting and 13 wounded, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who was holding a meet-and-greet with constituents at the time.

Authorities say Giffords was the target of the attack.

PHOENIX – A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the suspect in the Tucson shooting rampage that wounded U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is mentally incompetent to stand trial, putting the criminal case against him on hold indefinitely.

The guy needs to be put down like a rabid animal.

Anyone can fake "crazy". He was stopped by police on the morning of the shootings and gave no indication he was a loose cannon.

He emptied a clip into a crowd of people, killing 6, and was attacked while trying to reload. Doesn't sound incompetent to me, then of course I'm not a bleeding heart liberal neither.

Fry him and save a few dollars in taxpayer money. He's a calculating, cold-blooded murderer and nothing more.

Of course anyone can fake being "crazy".

It has been done since the dawn of time itself.

Just as people have been influenced by outside forces to commit heinous actions.

While, yes, the media has "tried" him before our eyes, how sane is that in itself?

Any populace ignorant enough to allow any source of information to influence their thinking is one doomed to fall, doomed to fail, and doomed to be controlled by a false perspective, whether Jared Lee Loughner shot people in a room full of witnesses of not, or whether or not he acted alone or had a group of shadowy people pushing him along and he was an innocent patsy, we deserve to hear an unbiased version of the facts without distortion by pre-determination.

Before the court case was ever heard today Jared Lee Loughner was judged guilty.

By a populace too easily guided by its nose.

With the helpful hand of the Government and Mainstream Media.

And no I am not stating I believe Lougher is either innocent or guilty.

I am however stating society itself is ignorant to the control mechanisms which push people like him.

In all fairness though....

The judge ruled Loughner will remain in custody at the prison hospital for now and set a hearing for September 21 to determine whether his condition had improved sufficiently for proceedings against him to resume.

He's playing the system. He's an intelligent kid and he's going to work this in his favor. There's a fine line between insane and super intelligence. There's no doubt in my mind that he's going to work the system and work his intelligence to get out of most of his charges and make a absolute fool of the US law system.

There is no justice, I knew this when I first read that rich people can buy themselves out of court cases.

There is only class justice and a private prison system that is overfull with too many petty criminals while the big dogs roam the streets and we can't defend ourselves because firearms are illegal here.

It's all about control.

Ofcourse shooting at people is a crime and anyone doing so should be punished by law.

But, why discuss his state of mind? So the general public will come to believe anyone entertaining conspiracy theories are potential Jared Lee Loughner's and shun them, there's nothing more compelling to bow down to concensus than the prospect of becoming an outcast. This is the message younger people will remember at some level, questioning authorities might not lead to insanity but it might lead to becoming a social outcast.

Basically it's the same as in the medieval times where it was common to accept the notion of heaven but to have actual communication with beings from such a heaven was enough to be called a witch and become excommunicated. Humans are social animals and there are only a few which can do without that social contact, becoming outcast is a more powerful tool than anything. In modern times, entertaining the idea of utopia and looking at society naturally the mind begins to make up theories as why it's not like utopia. The brain simply comes up with plausible explanations which boil down to some men thinking up a scheme to enrich themselves at the expense of others, which ofcourse those men don't want others to find out but their system provides for such eventualities and automatically labels those individuals as paranoid/mentally insane and they are shunned for life. It's a powerful way of censoring that is in the making.

But back to Loughner's case, it bothers me people can discuss his state of mind, it's just not fair to other patients who have similar problems but are not violent at all yet the public gets this message about some scientific disease they know little of and this must mean all schizophrenics are possibly violent, anything can set them off. Instead of withholding medical information and leave that a medical secret only known by close physicians, it's just blurted out into the public, free advertising for psychiatry and it's industry, leading up to a carte blanche to round up all mentally insane on the "scientific" basis they are all timebombs waiting to go off. And I'm sure there are many people who would want these elements filtered out of society so we'd all live in a safe nation.

So if you want to beat the system, shave your head and smirk in court. Prosecution never goes to trial! What a country.

Or...this is a MKULTRA that will be prevented from going to court. Loughner will say it was all a mind control program but he will already be made into an insane person in the eyes of the public.

Stop being sheep, wake up and see this for what it really is. You have yet to see any evidence of Loughner committing those attacks, and now you won't since it won't go to trial.

Interesting developments in this case so far.

You know, with the odd reporting done by the MSM on Giffords and her husband the astronaut, I have been having some odd feelings about all of this.

It really does have a "reality TV" type feeling to it, and the way they talk about Giffords feels like they have plans for her running for bigger offices in the future.

Think about it though. The brainwashed masses will feel sorry for her and vote her in automatically based on pity alone. Imagine if her husband died in a shuttle accident on return? Yeah, she would be so angry and I honestly feel she would take it out on us citizens with draconian laws to punish us.

Sorry I went off on that tangent, I just feel like they are doing something special and odd with this whole scenario.

As far as Loughner being innocent or guilty, we need evidence to convict him of crimes.

Mental competence has almost nothing to do with anything. Either he committed a criminal action or he did not. By examining the evidence we can determine with fair accuracy if he is guilty or not. And hopefully a jury will be allowed to review the facts and determine a reasonable sentence or punishment.

I don't believe in "crazy". It's a myth. It's an excuse. It's a cop out.
Either you are a criminal or you are not.

Our legal system is a complete joke.

I take it this guy if sent for trial will be looking at the death penalty? If so then i can well imagine him faking mental health problems. It really angers me that anyone would fake mental health issues as i know people with GENUINE mental health problems and they dont always get the care and services they need (thanks to our patchy NHS but that is another story) Has this guy been fully assessed prior to the hearing? Surely the Psych would know if he was genuine, faking it or whatever. If he was deemed fit for the hearing why all of a sudden did he become unfit. I smell a rat there. I reckon he is faking things.

Loughner had a fit in court when he realized he was going to be shafted yet again. Can't blame him...

I for one am not convinced of his guilt. How many witnesses can ID him as the shooter? Was gun shot residue found on his hands or clothing? Can the pistol found at the scene be traced to him? Were his fingerprints on the gun? Can all the shell casings found be identified as coming from his gun?

Those are the things that make up the foundation of a homicide investigation, and so far the prosecution has not made its case.

Killing 1 or 6 people is crazy ..if you just whack off anyone with no regard for another’s life then it is crazy!!

Self defense ..um how do you even put that into play in this situation did Gabby Gifford have a gun was there anyone that threatened to shoot him that day .. if there was NO one was ever told that.
And by now >> that info would of surfaced..

How does society play a part in this mass killing? Laughner was a nut .. was he insane I don’t think so .. If he was he was borderline ready to snap and he did. So how does this involve Society??

I think he was very disturbed at various times and I believe he himself was set off by something .. or it really could be he went from crazy to insane and that my friend is the job of a specialist to determine that..

I hate to bring personal experiences up in threads but .. I personally know of a man who had Schizophrenia

And he snapped and strangled his GF.. He claim insanity which in my opinion is way to easy to get away with IMO .. Cause there was no excuse for this particular person to do this to his GF.

He had a long druggy history and was a drunk yet he flipped and got away Scot free IMO now he has his cozy little room in an Institution instead of a prison where he should be sitting.

This case seems eerily familiar to the case of Martin Bryant here in Australia.

Known here as the Port Arthur Massacre, it was the case specifically used to ban weapons here.

We can now begin to understand the necessity for Martin Bryant to plead guilty, and all the various moves made to ensure this occurred has been documented. By these moves, all Australians have been denied justice, along with any knowledge of the events that transpired in what is now called the Port Arthur Massacre.

Consider also that Martin Bryant has been sentenced to life imprisonment without any form of a trial whatsoever. It is not the victims that are being protected, but corrupt bureaucracies. This is the reason for the coverup.
