(CNN) -- A judge may decide Wednesday if Jared Lee Loughner is mentally competent to stand trial.
The Arizona man faces multiple charges -- including murder and attempted murder -- related to the January 8 mass shooting in a grocery store parking lot in Tucson.
Six people were killed in the shooting and 13 wounded, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who was holding a meet-and-greet with constituents at the time.
Authorities say Giffords was the target of the attack.
PHOENIX – A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the suspect in the Tucson shooting rampage that wounded U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is mentally incompetent to stand trial, putting the criminal case against him on hold indefinitely.

Just how saine IS someone who shoots and kills 6 people in the first place?
If you ask me, shooting and killing 6 people IS crazy in itself!
Arizona shooting suspect Jared Lee Loughner is not mentally competent to stand trial on charges he killed six people and wounded US congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a federal judge has ruled. US district judge Larry Burns said Loughner, 22, was incapable of understanding the proceedings against him and assisting in his own defence. He cited the conclusions of two experts, a forensic psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist, that Loughner suffers from schizophrenia, disordered thinking and delusions. The decision came shortly after Loughner, who was rocking back and forth in his chair during the hearing, was dragged from the courtroom after an outburst. Loughner is accused of opening fire with a semiautomatic pistol on Ms Giffords and a crowd of bystanders attending a political gathering outside a Tucson supermarket in January.

The judge ruled Loughner will remain in custody at the prison hospital for now and set a hearing for September 21 to determine whether his condition had improved sufficiently for proceedings against him to resume.

He's playing the system. He's an intelligent kid and he's going to work this in his favor. There's a fine line between insane and super intelligence. There's no doubt in my mind that he's going to work the system and work his intelligence to get out of most of his charges and make a absolute fool of the US law system.

Killing any amount of men or women can be deemed crazy.
Whether as self-defense or a lunatic fringe.
The only place it is not deemed crazy is in the service of your country.
The real question we should ask ourselves is who is really guilty?
Society itself or Loughner.edit on 5/25/11 by SpartanKingLeonidas because: Adding Depth and Insight Into the Post.
We can now begin to understand the necessity for Martin Bryant to plead guilty, and all the various moves made to ensure this occurred has been documented. By these moves, all Australians have been denied justice, along with any knowledge of the events that transpired in what is now called the Port Arthur Massacre.
Consider also that Martin Bryant has been sentenced to life imprisonment without any form of a trial whatsoever. It is not the victims that are being protected, but corrupt bureaucracies. This is the reason for the coverup.
