I call it soda but I'm from Texas and most people here call any soda drink coke no matter the brand. I think it may be more acurate to call it poison.

It's soda! Who in the world will call their drink 'pop'? That sounds like it was injected with something gross.

Yea it does..

I'm constantly amazed by the regional differences we see in things such as this..as well as dialects etc. Fascinating.

In the UK we don't tend to call them Pop or Soda, we call it juice or Fizzy drink.

In Scotland we call it juice or fizzy juice too. Definitely not pop or soda. Mostly though, we call it by it's name. i.e. "You want Tango or Coke or Irn Bru?"

If it's another kind of juice altogether we call it by it's type, i.e. "you want a diluting juice, or a fresh orange?"

But if anyone says the word juice, you can assume it's fizzy.

I'm from Wisconsin and I call it soda.

I have a funny story though. My mom calls it pop because she grew up in the Chicago Suburbs, but she moved to California, and one days she offered her mother-in-law some pop. My grandma didn't know what pop was, but she thought my mom was offering her pot! Embarrassment ensued until my grandma figured out what the heck pop was.

Grew up in Houston, live in Dallas. It's all a kind of "coke" to me and mine. But, I love to hear people from the Midwest/East say "pop". It makes me giggle!

Growing up in Indiana it was "pop". Having moved around a dozen times across country I have heard it called everything mentioned here.

The strangest thing is my kids call it soda, or soft drink.

My oldest daughter, one day as she walked in the house and saw me said,"Hi Pop!"

That was weird, because to me that was what we called a soft drink and I never related it to a term for Dad.

I stay neutral and call them what they are "soft drinks".

If you add a "hard drink" to a "soft drink" you get a "mixed drink".

It was always just called Pop when I was a girl. We even had a guy that used to come around with a van, selling nothing but Pop.

If there was no proper Pop to be had we always had to settle for Corporation Pop , i.e water.
