the moon has a great effect on us, like tides. If a comet is going to actually crash, two thoughts get as far from the impact, if you like the movie mad max, or get real close and watch it. either way all life on earth changes.

This letter is nothing more than a "what to do in case of NEO collisions". They probably have these reports for any possible catastrophe. I think you're reading too much into it. Take it for what it is. Take pride in knowing that our leaders are getting information like this and are aware of possible threats. 100 years ago no one even thought of the possibility of collisions. They would have been up s**t creek. With letters like this, guidelines and protocols can be implemented so we're not a bunch of chickens running around with our heads cut off.

I swear, everyone thinks that everything our government does is sinister. This paranoia has got to stop. I don't want to live in a country full of schizophrenics.

Interestingly, Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) was only “discovered” by civilian Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010, in the official White House letter below, written back in late October 2010, the White House addressed the possibility of an Comet/Asteroid striking the Earth.

The terminology used in this letter, along with several other facts that have emerged in the time since the letter was written, lead us to believe that our “shadow” government and elements within NASA have long known that anticipated effects of the arrival of Comet Elenin would indeed be much greater than they are telling the public.


In fact, we believe that the White House letter below may be the “smoking gun” to help prove that the government indeed does know that the potential consequences facing planet Earth from this comet will be far more disastrous than what they are “officially” telling the public.

You do realize that 0.233 AU (34,900,000 km; 21,700,000 mi) is NO WHERE NEAR THE EARTH right?!?! Dear God Man the average distance between the Earth and the Moon is less than that!!!! Its only 384,403 kilometers (238,857 miles)!!!! This comet is not coming anywhere near us....

THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT A SMOKING GUN!!!!!!!

For God's Sake man the Document itself says on the VERY FIRST PAGE:

No NEO's large enough to present a hazard is known to be on a collision course with the Earth, and the probability of an impact by such a NEO is extremely low.w.w.

To suggest some letter written in 2010 talking about the very real necessity of taking precautions in case we ever do face the threat of a comet collision is some kind of smoking gun is little more than outright lying.....sorry to be so blunt, but honestly that is indeed all that it is.

Well I will worry about the return of Halley's Comet in 2134. The Comet is expected to pass within 0.09 astronomical units (13,000,000 km) of the Earth. Oh my God were all going to die.

Listen, the point of the thread was to inform people that the White House addressed this issue right BEFORE Comet Elenin was discovered.

how is it that something like that even makes it to the internet?
Are these public records? or did someone "from the inside" grab it
And if so where is the proof it is a valid document
