In fact, we believe that the White House letter below may be the “smoking gun” to help prove that the government indeed does know that the potential consequences facing planet Earth from this comet will be far more disastrous than what they are “officially” telling the public.

Yes we should be prepared for Comet Collisions but so far we have not detected any that have a significant chance of impacting the Earth! Or one that is incredibly large that will impact the Earth in the next 100 years or so. Most of them are very low chance of impacting.!

Notice how Earths surface has very few Crater impacts in the recent past and also notice how many craters have been weathered thats why you can't see them anymore because of the erosion on Earth is so high. The surface is changing throughout time alot....

There still is a real threat out there though. So i think we can atleast as a world get together and build and/or prepare for such a collision and how to deflect such an object before it smacks Earth.

This comet isn't expected to collide with the Earth, the whitehouse reference are preparations on how to deal with one that in future would be calculated by NASA to hit us.

So, if we are hit by an asteroid or one of it's tag alongs, what will you do?
The Gumment is not gonna spare you space in a shelter, nor your children and most likely not even your friends.
There will be no warning, they already have in mind who they want to survive.
You and I are just lousy feeders taking their food and air.
If you are truly worried about comets, Etc.
Start digging and hope for the best.

No NEO large enough to present is known to be on a collision course with Earth, and the probability of an impact by such a NEO is extremely low.

I wonder if the possibility of future collision activity is one of the reasons NASA aren't making any near future plans to travel out into space, besides cost, perhaps there is an element of protection ?

For all the trillions of dollars we taxpayers give to the U.S. Government, its nice to know they are at least THINKING about the possibility we could get hit. I'd be upset if they weren't discussing this.

How does something that is going to be about 0.246au from Earth become a threat. That is 22.8 million miles away.
The Moon is closer than that, at its furthest point, it’s 405,696 km (252,088 miles).

.232AU is over 21 million miles away, over 100x the distance to the moon. I'm not worried about collision. I'm worred that I won't get time off work to go to my cabin to see it. It should look pretty awesome out int the country away from city lights.

i watched a documentary on the (yes i know) T.V. the other day about what it would be like if aliens attacked.
real scientists speculating about how it could happen and the ins and outs. they said they would not beable to tell it was a spaceship coming in and would at first appear as a meteorite/comet and would be assumed to be so.

if it was on a direct course with earth then they would assume it was a meteorite/comet and treat it as such and would most likely try to prevent a collision with earth, by trying to deflect it of course which would mean hitting it with objects to change its course enough to miss the earth.

they would only become aware that it was a spaceship if it changed direction then went back on its orignal course, a direct hit with earth. however by then their actions might already be seen as aggressive by the incoming ship.

it was interesting hearing scientist talking about a possible scenerio that most think is wacky, and this thread reminded me of it. lets just hope what ever comes our way is just a comet/meteorite because if it is not we would attack it anyway thinking it is, which could spark war.

i doubt that scenerio will happen, but who knows. they said themselves they would not know it was a ship untill it got close enough by which time they would of all ready tried deflecting it. it is a kind of damned if we do damned if we do not type scenerio.

the letter has some interesting things in it. for example, on page 4, last paragraph, there's this nugget:

ok, so, agencies of the US gov't, not NASA (who's tasked with these things), are developing wide-field space surveillance systems. more than one agency in the US gov't is working on systems to keep tabs on space. Why are agencies, other than the one that normally would develop this kind of system, working on this goal? Why do we need more than one wide field surveillance system for space? Why isn't NASA doing this?

Why is the USAF developing a Space Surveillance Telescope (DARPA's actually doing it for the AF)?

The paper mentions two systems that could be used but goes on to say that the systems would need to be adapted for the purpose of looking for NEOs. So, wide field surveillance systems would need to be adapted to study a wide field to help deal with Near Earth Objects.

The paper also says that the president's new National Space Policy specifically directs NASA to "prusue capabilities, in cooperation with other departments, agencies, and commercial partners, to detect, track, catalog and characterize near Earth objects to reduce the risk of harm to humans from an unexpected impact..."

If this guidance, as the paper states, reinforces NASA's roles and responsibilities in studying NEOs, why are we funnelling money to other agencies to develop systems that could be used for this but are being used for some other purpose?

Every good find, and that Obama increased NASA 's budget 3 1/2 times just to research this says it all. The threat that Elenin has is not the comet itself but that it has many huge asteriods in it's tail. Since the earth will be right in the tail is what will have everyone holding their breathe.

I spent 4 years writting a book about 7 asteroids that hit the earth in 2354 BC., 4 of the impact sites have been located, one happens to be what caused the New Madrid Fault. My book was confiscated in Jan. 2007, but thankfully Barry Warmkessel saved the first 3 chapters. You can read them free online at epochrevelations.com or just google "Epoch Revelations" . When that happened about 1/3 of the people on the planet died.

These 7 asteroids were in the tail of a Comet, the people saw it go past and on it's way back around the sun is when it happened, the earth was in it's tail path. Of course in my book, I talked about it happening again between 2007 and 2015. Many have said this happens every 10,000 to 11,000 years. But it is every 4,970 and that was even on the Discovery Channel with finding New Madrid Fault occured 2350 BC +10/-10 yrs.
Dr. de Jonge of the Neatherlands, also came up with the date of this as 2345 BC. Plus another scientist came up with 2340 ? BC. So we are going to be right in the middle of the crap shoot, if it was just the comet we would be ok, but it is what it is bringing in it's tail that is the danger.

The difference is that the rapture is just written in the books and beliefs of people, and that ELEnin really exists or may be we can call it, wormwood, nibiru, tyche, the destroyer, my nanny in pants what ever you like

Wow, that really is a chunky little nugget. It seems like an admission that the black ops are more advanced in space exploration than the NASA ops. Of course we have always suspected this but it's unusual to see it referenced in a .gov domain.
