I love the chevelle to. great car. My dad's first car was a 66 chevell S.S. I think it had a 396 engine. Wish he had held on to the thing. But we never really hold on to our first car do we? Except in our hearts. Good to hear from you again atuowrench.

I hear you. My first car was a 1948 Buick Roadmaster fastback, Straight 8 engine and floor shift. My cousins in Indiana still have that car, and it still runs, but they will never sell it to me. I would pay a lot to have it, but they will not budge. Personally, the one car I had that I really would like to have now is a 1954 Mercury.
I sold it for $50 back in the late 70s, and would pay a lot to have that one back. Half the roof was pexiglass, all power seats and windows, nice car.

The 54 mercury is an awesome car. I know people who have turned them into hot rod projects. They look good in black with flames. I have thought about getting a 49 mercury. Its my favorite year for that car. I love the grill on those things.

I like the Chevrolet Chevelle myself, I have had many of these A Body beasts, several were the famous "SS 396" models, with Muncie or Borg-Warner four speed trans, and extra big Holley 4-bbl carb. I had one '66 Malibu that I stuffed a 455 Stage 3 Olds engine in. This car would yank the front wheels off the ground when staged, and never once lost a street race. It got 9 miles to the gallon. I long for those days.

yanked the wheels never lost a race...ahem and you put a 100$ bill on the dash and no one ever could get it cuz of the torque and a 455 in a chevy would have to be under the firewall due to mountt location a chevy in a olds sits way fwd............pics?

At at GSA auction several years ago, I had an opportunity to bid on an original 1970 Dodge Challenger, in Kowalski white. I bid $4500 that I didn't have and the winning bid was $5000. I still pine for that car sometimes. ~whine~ The interior was amazing. Under the hood was original, and the whole car looked original.

Oh that sucks. Sorry you couldn't get the challenger. Beautiful car if I say so myself. An old neighbor of mine has a 1970 challenger in lime green with the black hockey stick design on the sides all original.
