Whata hypocrite reaction with a signature like this:

I find it disgraceful that people took time out of their lives to mock an old man and his beliefs but don't have the cajones to stand up to the oppressing government that has a boot on their neck.
You don't agree with him fine, I don't either but does it give you satisfaction to kick a senile old man while he is down?
I hope you'all feel all tough and stuff.
Disgraceful.
I totally agree, Camping is a pretty harmless man, so it is an easy target...

Yes and no - I think their main motivation was trying to mitigate the fallout likely already occurring from the failure of Camping's prediction.
A lot of those people quit jobs, got rid of their savings, left nothing for their young and as-yet unborn children. Sad sad stuff.
A lot of damage control will be needed, and I believe this is their intent in being present - not to 'poach' anything as these people are likely turnips with no blood to give at this point. Please be mindful that a good many churches actually offer a lot of good to the world, via charity work, helping the destitute, community outreach and counseling programs, teaching modern techniques in the third world and the like.
Be well.

I don't know that he personally has "gotten rich" as a result of donations. The IRS records say as far as they can tell, he personally didn't get any of the 80 million in donations it received in the last few years. But yes.. 80 million is a lot of money to take in, to spend on pointless projects like putting billboards in countries around the world, and broadcasting in those countries.
He won't be held responsible - too many religious folk would raise a unholy storm of hate towards anyone who tried to make him pay for his beliefs. I personally feel he at a minimum, should never be allowed to head up any effort to make the "world aware" of any upcoming "events" he figures to have deduced by his bible studies. Obviously, he is in no position to be making those sorts of predictions.
