Help - Do any of you know what is going on with the Magnetosphere?

Real Time Magnetospere

Hi,

I have been following this link for some time about the magnetosphere and was quite shocked to see it doing the following. Do any members here follow it enough to be able to say if this is a normal occurance?

This is not a thread to fire up anyone or spread fear, its purely I really would like to have someone explain what I am seeing.....

Could this activity have helped give the Iceland volcano the push it needed to erupt.....

Dam, it looks like a fly just sitting there waiting on a prey....lol...Never seen it like this before..it's 6:40 p.m. est right now....

I know, I have never seen it look like that. That does not mean its not within normal parameters, but I certainly do not like the look of it. I have not seen any word on sun spot activity to say there was solar flare activity and a subsequent magnetic burst en route.

Any one else have knowledge on this here....

Holy minoley, its even worse now. Surely that is not normal.

This has happened before. One thing I know is that we are still here. The other thing is that there seems to be a lot of geological activity today... volcanoes, earthquakes... Either this is suspect as the cause, or the hype of the quakes and Volcanoes is elevated given the whole 5/21/11 prediction.

I went to look and it says simulation stopped due to power outage.

I agree with you, I do think there must be a corrolation with the earthquake and volcanic activity. Lets just hope that nothing big kicks off and it settles as fast as it has done this.

I'm very sorry for my ignorance on the topic, but can someone please explain to me what exactly is happening with the Magnetosphere? I would greatly appreciate you're help as I am very concerned.

It says that a lot, dont worry about that , it was the flow of the magnetosphere hitting us that is the weird thing. Normally it looks completely different, it flows over us in an open pattern, I have never seen it circle us before.

I presume this HAS happened before, I just would also like some brainy member to come in and put my mind at ease too. The pattern is like nothing I have seen before.

There have been threads on here where it looks way weirder than this.
I don't think it's of concern.

It is a normal occurrence and happens frequently. It happens whenever the solar wind takes a strong north turn as it has now.

Just read the first one. Thank you for passing me those two threads. I am seeing the wood for the trees now. Its a fascinating subject and one you are very clearly very well read on. I was beginning to feel a bit worried about the way it was looking, but as al;ways there is always a logical answer.

Indeed. Also Phage just posted a couple of links that explain the Mag simulation, and what it means.

For those that see the power outage message... LET THE PAGE LOAD... it always says that, but it works anyway

No idea but that magnetic field pattern displayed looks like a cockroach.

It says that but it has been up and running for a long time. It had problems when the EQ happened in Japan, and they just never took that notice down.



What you're seeing is nothing to be alarmed about- I have seen wierder and it meant nothing (I look at that every morning as part of my daily coffee ritual).

Though I cannot explain why these changes take place, I can say they are within the range of normal.

I really am spending to much time in here!!!

I have had a look at it and it seems more "stable" looking this morning, though not quite back to its normal pattern. It is very interesting to watch these things, Over in Iceland there seems to have been a dramatic change in activity right along a connected fissure system. I think when the volcano blew in Iceland and this was showing such a dramatic change I was very interested if there was a corrolation in the two events. ie if the solar winds effecting our magnetic field could in turn be a wake up call on the earths crust via increased volcanic activity/earthquakes. I appreciate its near on impossible for a layperson to prove or disprove such a theory.

Anyway, coffee time and a good catch up read in here is the order of the day.
