The Ron Paul supporters will only vote for Ron Paul, if he isn't on the ticket, they'll stay home
Ron Paul has the ability to pull people from the left and the center due to his views on bringing the military home and other more "progressive" beliefs.

When Ron ran in 2008, the people I met in stumping for him were from all different political beliefs, he is able to bridge that divide, I think that is why the RNC is afraid of him.
