An unidentified disease has killed at least 64 people, mainly women and children, in villages in the southwestern Somali region of Bakool over the past three days, elders confirmed on Thursday.

I hate to be so brash, but this probably isn't anything to write home about. There are a ton of nasty diseases in Africa that occasionally break out in a few villages and then more or less disappear for quite some time.

The fact that they're quoting simple 'elders' who even admit there are no medical facilities doesn't help the case that this is anything all that unusual.
