For the last week (excluding tonight) I have been caffeine and soda free....and I have to tell you, it has sucked! The headaches, and the need for more soda is enough to make anyone go mad! This is really sad!

I love soda and I max out at two 8 fl oz cans a day and thats plenty considering how much sugar is in just one can. But the way it affects me and makes me crave it is sad! I want to be able to quit forever but I don't think I could have the will power.

Thoughts?

You are doing a good thing. Sodas are bad for you. They have zero nutritional value. They rot your teeth and contribute to diabetes. You are experiencing withdrawal as happens when any drug is removed from your system. Be thankful you don't smoke.

Sugar and caffeine are as addictive as crack instead of Marvin the crack head we have Marvin the Coke head (Thank you thank you I'll be here all week try the veal.) That being said Caffeine can actually help with headaches that is why Excedrin is chalk full of it. However with certain people like myself I can't take Excedrin cause of the reason nor Ibuprofen. But Kudos and a slight coup for you for giving it up.

I can't stand soda, but I can empathize with the caffeine addiction (coffee junkie, here)... Hang in there - the first week is the hardest after that, it will get easier. In the meantime, supplement your need for sugar/soda/caffeine with something that's good for you, naturally sweet, etc. On a side note: My aunt was seriously addicted to Pepsi, back in the day. I'm talking multiple 2-litre bottles a day. She nearly destroyed her kidneys... It can be very serious! Get off that merry-go-round.

I like soda, I usually go a long time without drinking it, then I will start drinking it everyday for about a week, I then feel crappy and stop drinking it for another few months. Caffeine gives me headaches so I like to avoid it.

I used to drink pop like crazy ( Yes I said pop, being from Michigan we cringe when we hear such words as "Soda" or "Cola", ITS POP DAMN IT!) lol, But it gets way too expensive and is just plain bad for you, i may have like a couple 2 litres a week depending on how im feeling, but i mostly stick to making sure i drink at least a gallon of water a day, you feel better, and start to look better too.

good luck i know its really difficult to break the POP drinking cycle lol.

Nothing like a cold coke on a hot day though huh?

I'm very proud of you Elsek and I hope you are hanging in there. I have a long-time problem with the bubble water, big time, and I just started getting a hold on it days ago.

I'm ashamed to say how many years I've been knocking off at least a 12 pack a day. On the good side, I'm no longer a fall-down drunk, I've been sober many years now. I drank too much Coke to begin with, and beating alcohol, I replaced the beers etcetera with Coca-Cola.

I have few real teeth left in my head and my waist size, don't even ask. My own fault. Now I'm drinking 2 Cokes a day and I'm on to Seltzer. My day will come soon when I am Coke free, as I recently began eating better, but I'm working my way into it.
