You are correct. I have heard this from the horses mouth as well. It's too bad these guys/gals don't realize, that by de-humanizing others, they also de-humanize themselves. And become nothing more than trained animals in a uniform.

Apparently the UK and the US are two very different places. I saw a protestor in the UK hug a cop, who stood still and didn't resist. In the US the man would be gunned down, I'm sure.

Of course. It's assaulting a police officer.

We should set up a "hug a cop" day and see how many people are killed as a result.

In the 1970's the New York state police beat the crap out of my Dad for failure to use a turn signal while changing lanes on a deserted highway at 3:00 AM.

Dad does not swear or drink and did not even have a traffic ticket!

This "Little Hitler" type atitude is unfortunately seen a lot in police officers who go from being schoolyard bullies to bullies with a badge.

That is such a sad story to read. My deepest sympathies go out to him.(maybe there was a little more to the story, sometimes parents don't want to tell the whole story) Whatever the case was, nothing warrants a brutal beating, and its against the law in my opinion.

I'm so grateful our local police force seems to conduct themselves in a very professional and dignified manner.

I've seen things go down at pubs, where they had to call in police, and onlookers have said that there is no way they would be so good in other canadian cities. There has been some questionable behaviour by some, and some court cases have ensued, but on a whole I think they are very decent on how they handle their power.
I feel sorry for some of the stuff they have to deal with, can't be an easy job, especially if you are just honestly trying to protect citizens , and you get treated like the bad guy.

This would be a good place to try out the Islamic Sharia Law......If a punk cop throws you down to the ground and breaks your nose and fractures your skull them set up on live t.v. and let who ever the injured party is do it right back to them...That would stop most of these power hungry, stone cold Steve Austin wanna be idiots....

I was just gonna put this one up myself, I noticed the search too... Beating up old people must be a hobby or something I guess. Makes me sick, cops should have a mandatory double max sentence when caught breaking the law they swore and are paid to uphold. No cushy private cell either, general population.

The old woman amongst your links was thrown down, I think by a policewoman and it is on video, as is the wheelchair bound man who was tipped out of his wheelchair because a policewoman thought he was feigning. These stories go on and on.

Indeed, these incidents seem to be ubiquitous in todays society. What a wonderful trend for historians to reference in the future when they are trying to understand our antiquated culture.

Well, we got one side of the story... It is possible that the cop just randomly decided to attack the man, but...I would like to hear all sides of the story before I make up my mind here.

So sad to see yet another story like this. Very glad they are few and far between though.

It really doesn't matter what occupation you look at, there will be the odd person here and there that will abuse their position. Unfortunately that's just the way of the world

It is nothing new just becoming more extreme. Most police in this country are military trained., Many are seals, army rangers etc. They are trained to kill not to protect and serve. The elderly have a differnt view of the ways things are. Back in the day citizens helped the police and were taught that the police were there to help you,. Not now they are there to frighten and intimidate you. It is getting so bad that I have family members that are leaving the US because they don't feel safe here anymore. It is a sad day that things are becoming such a police state with brutality the norm and people feel unsafe in this country.

I also have family that have discussed leaving the US. But I always have the same question. And go where? The police state mentality exists everywhere these days it seems.

Talk about one sided stories
On most of these Cop Hater threads none of you even know the whole story.

Criminals always lie in their own favor. Not saying that is the case here, but in general it's far more likely the Cop is telling the truth than the other way around.

The only people I know who are Cop Haters are criminals who are in and out of jail. Should I assume from that, that all the Cop Haters here are criminals or posting from Prison?
Far more likely scenario is it not?

How many times do we see somebody here talking about all their run-ins with the Law who pretend they are innocent little lambs.

As far as old men, age does not change them if they are troublesome. This story could go either way.

How about a follow up thread when you get the whole story?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Good job! He was right in his predictions See here...

But in among all this terrible poverty there were just a few great big beautiful houses that were lived in by rich men who had as many as thirty servants to look after them. These rich men were called capitalists. They were fat, ugly men with wicked faces, like the one in the picture on the opposite page. You can see that he is dressed in a long black coat which was called a frock coat, and a queer, shiny hat shaped like a stovepipe, which was called a top hat. This was the uniform of the capitalists, and no one else was allowed to wear it. The capitalists owned everything in the world, and everyone else was their slave. They owned all the land, all the houses, all the factories, and all the money. If anyone disobeyed them they could throw them into prison, or they could take his job away and starve him to death. When any ordinary person spoke to a capitalist he had to cringe and bow to him, and take off his cap and address him as 'Sir'. The chief of all the capitalists was called the King, and --

But he knew the rest of the catalogue. There would be mention of the bishops in their lawn sleeves, the judges in their ermine robes, the pillory, the stocks, the treadmill, the cat-o'-nine tails, the Lord Mayor's Banquet, and the practice of kissing the Pope's toe. There was also something called the jus primae noctis, which would probably not be mentioned in a textbook for children. It was the law by which every capitalist had the right to sleep with any woman working in one of his factories.

I can't imagine the old mans shock when the 'cavalary' turned out to be the 'enemy'..... An 84 yo person, is more than likely to be frail, ill,on medication etc.
It just beggars belief that some of these cops could treat an older member of society in such a brutal manner.
I can't imagine they could have any moral fibre, or values, to do this sort of thing to our weakest citizens. When criminals attack the elderly, they are seen as part of the lowest scum, for targeting our most vulnerable.
What wicked, wicked people.

Wow.

What exactly would an unarmed 84 year old man have to do to warrant a broken nose, exactly?

Other than inform an officer that he is a bumbling f*cking moron for thinking that you can't preform a citizen's arrest in any area of any developed country?

Why do people with the most nationalistic symbols in their ATS avatars always have the most ignorant crap to gurgitate?

You, sir, should go back to school, and take these militantly bratty "civil servants" with you. Maybe they won't get bullied this time and have to take it out on the frail.

I'll play your nonsensical little reverse-victimization bullsh*t for a second, though; beware of astranged truths that you are clearly either far too sheltered to understand, or far too "on the other side of the fence" to give us 'civillians' the time of day.

I was 17 when I was tackled to the ground outside my highschool for being "too young to smoke"... this, of course, happened immediately after an attempted 'smoker's corner raid', which basically means the regular officers came up and asked where all the "grass" was... and we legitimately had nothing, not that we'd look like we didn't considering our hairstyles/outfits.

I remember the exact dialogue:

"Well, you have to be 19 to smoke, brats! The f*ck are ya' even doing out here?"

"Um, smoking, because we're law students, so we actually KNOW the legal smoking age is 16, it's just 19 to legally purchase them."

"Oh, so you think you know how the law works?"

"I think Tim Hortons is in the opposite direction, and you probably have a better chance of knowing what the hell you're talking about over there" (Tim Hortons is a huge coffee/donut chain in Canada)

Given, I had a terrible attitude at that point in my life, but they were practically begging to get verbally slaughtered the second they walked over there jonesin' for a joint that they didn't feel like paying for....again.

I'm still rather surprised that my teeth ended up breaking before his, as that infuriated him to the point where there you could've held a red delicious beside his face and sworn it was yellow. But yea, I now have 7 fake teeth on the right side of my face where it was being pressed against the asphalt by his foot. It was prety awesome, live crimestopping -- doesn't get much more exciting than that. I, of course, am talking about when my butch-dyke friend jammed her thumb into his left eye socket and twisted.

She got out two years later.

I sued the department for my dental work and it yeilded nothing but lawyer fees on top of dentist fees.

The newspaper report ran for a day and all I received was a bunch of 'sympathy' from the defeatist nation of fearful civvs.

But woops, I'm a criminal because you told me I am.... coincidentally so did the bullies with the badges that dare to call theselves "civil servants". You're all just so cool...
... and such a useful investment of income tax dollars in this economy...

Go ahead and reply and dictate some more nonsensical bull as if you know everything about everyone else's experiences and we know nothing about our own. It's reallly, really sane, I'll tell you that much.

It would be fine if you were just being skeptical and wanted to hear the full story, but you're being criminally preconclusive yourself and pointing your finger at people and calling them criminals. Look at your avatar, again. Part of being free is being innocent until proven guilty, no being beaten until you can't speak anymore to defend yourself in court.... with the weapons you helped pay for.
