From MIT.

Days before the March 11th earthquake in Japan the atmosphere heated up right above the quake site. Here is the info.

We have no technology that would "heat" up a region of the amptmosphere.

The New Madrid Fault Line should be hot as hell right now then....

At the same time, satellite observations showed a big increase in infrared emissions from above the epicentre, which peaked in the hours before the quake. In other words, the atmosphere was heating up.

These kinds of observations are consistent with an idea called the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere Coupling mechanism. The thinking is that in the days before an earthquake, the great stresses in a fault as it is about to give cause the releases large amounts of radon.

The radioactivity from this gas ionises the air on a large scale and this has a number of knock on effects. Since water molecules are attracted to ions in the air, ionisation triggers the large scale condensation of water.

But the process of condensation also releases heat and it is this that causes infrared emissions.

"Our first results show that on March 8th a rapid increase of emitted infrared radiation was observed from the satellite data," say Ouzounov and co. These emissions go on to effect the ionosphere and its total electron content.

Sounds like this article was providing a possible explanation - instead of just taking the pictures and calling it HAARP.

They say that before the M9 earthquake, the total electron content of the ionosphere increased dramatically over the epicentre, reaching a maximum three days before the quake struck.

I would bet money this was caused by the Earth getting ready for the big quake, before I believed HAARP did it.

That's all you have to say? Why Bother then? And evidence suggests that we indeed do have technology that can heat up the atmosphere, it's called HAARP and if you bothered to look that up and find out what they say it is and what its rumored to be then to say what you just said would be totally against logic and reason and for that matter just a straight up denier. so take yourself and your one-liners back to fox news and let the rest of us have a real discussion.

And your join date is what about 8 days ago. ::sniff sniff:: i smell mis-info agent.

Ionospheric heater?

Just saying...

Edit:
Your sarcasm is tricky and unclear, unclear I say!

You should edit the title of your OP. In regards to HAARP...

This is by NO MEANS PROOF!

HAARP isn't even mentioned in the article you provided. Now anyone familiar with the claims of HAARPs abilities and function can see how you've jumped to such a conclusion. But consider this...

The article you've provided as proof is talking about a theory where the earthquake itself is responsible for the atmosphere heating up, NOT the other way around as you perceive. Maybe read the article yourself before claiming it not only as evidence, but as proof.

Your ignorance, denied!

HAARP or no HAARP, has anyone found a site with daily infrared emissions satellite images? That could be interesting to follow...

In the interests of denying ignorance..... DUH!!!!! (sorry)
I researched Nicola Tesla for my History of the Future class and have been poking back into more research since then.
What this absolute genius was working on PUBLICLY in the 1920's and 1930's certainly contained the potential for these types of effects had it been utilized, and HAARP was just one of his babies. (Can you say 'decades of Way ATS-type research?')
The problem is, most of Tesla's later work was done more and more in secret and those inventions we DO know about probably pale in comparison to the Black Ops type of stuff he would have been doing.
There was a lot of legal/financial/corporate chicanery involved, including the likes of JP Morgan and obviously GE as Tesla was a competitor (and far more brilliant in my view) than Edison.
Now consider that this man died a penniless pauper, and then ask yourself why our world sucks right now.

His work laid the foundation for HAARP, which you should at least try to look into before saying we can't possibly do this type of thing.
In so doing, you will replace glib ignorance with pants-sh!tting reality, happy trails.

Let me get you started: Nick Begich 'Angels Don't Play this HAARP' or check out this CBC Report on HAARP's weather mod capabilities.
CBC : HAARP Weather Modification

Cheers

The Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a high power transmitter facility operating in the High Frequency (HF) range. The IRI will be used to temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere for scientific study.

I interpret "excite" to mean heat up.

I mean I know even the weather channel has infrared satellite images, but nothing that looks close to the map in the MIT link...

It says "scientific study" not cause earthquakes.

I suppose if your coffee is too hot at the drive through that is HARRP causing the coffee to be too "excited"?
