In many ways it is a good idea to unite the world... The problem is method of implementation and the speed in which they do this. You can understand how relatively similar civilizations can work together, such as the US and Canada but, Mexico does not fit in YET.

A natural pace of unification is the only way that would be able to achieve long term sustainability. The alternative would be to create or have happen a scenario so terrible around the world that the only option is unification. This alternative is similar to the Regan alien invasion scenario and indeed it would work in the short term.

Bottom line our current methods, belief systems etc. are not compatible with a single world order. We would truly have to change everything about our lives and lifestyles in order embrace a system such as this; one that would not detach the human from it's humanity.

The measures I speak of above are just far too extreme for the mindsets indoctrinated today.

Nature does not even favor a "one world order." Nature is set up for competition. That doesnt mean the competition should be rigged so the losers of the last round always lose, and that the winners of the last round make the rules for the next round. Nature doesnt allow that either. But natures requires competition in order that adaptation and change and evolution can occur.

Just because what we are doing now is unfair, and causes enormous injustice, does not mean the idea of competing groups themselves is a bad idea. Thats the way things are at every single level in the biosphere, and nature has had billions of years to try different models. Its telling that competition is the one dominant strategy that works.

If we cannot make smaller nation states work in such a way that the needs and will of the people is done, there is absolutely no way we should move to a more complicated, more dangerous level of integration before we master this level.

Then let us compete against other worlds, not each other.
