What makes one a Hero?

Agreed. A hero is one that will sacrifice himself, even if just saving one life that is not his/her duty to save. A hero is someone that steps above and beyound their normal self in order to save that life. Unfortunately our greastest hero's are those we do not hear about. To them, I salute you.

I wish I could say yes to that. Sadly, there are far too many people that would take advantage of a dangerous situation to save themselves without the slightest thought to others.

Very good post, congratulations. Well, on my opinion, not only firefighters are heroes (just an example), I think that there are heroes in everyday life. A person who stands for it's family, who is trying harder and harder to make his family feel safe and secure. What I think it's called, hero of the day.
