No I didnt say 'exterminate all poor people', is it so much to ask people to read what I put properly? I said people who are lazy chose not to work and to leach of the benefit system AND constantly commit crime taking up police resources. What are these people bringing to the community, what do they provide to the country? Anything positive? What is the point in paying them to live in this country? Would you pay a guy to sit around your house all day while he steals stuff from you? No? So why should a government?

And going to boot camp wouldnt mean joining the army, its a completely different thing. See if you can find a TV program called 'Lads Army', similar thing to what should happen.

Hmmm...you get to complain about them on ATS and earn points and friends. Thus they help make your life worthwhile, distracting you from your own self-hatred and add perceived value to your existence as objects of contempt.

Here in the U.S. they also make good target practice. Too bad you gave up that right; it's fun, fun, fun for the whole family!

Who the heck is exterminating people? We aren’t nazi's, were tax payers who are sick of a system that is used, abused and raped up the you know what by people who have no legit reason to not work. Great example, my ex-wife qualified for disability, because she was hit by a drunk driver, but she refused to sit and collect on the government dime, so she started her own business. When that didn’t work she changed gears and has worked her way back into her profession even though she barely has use of her left hand. That’s someone with a work ethic. When I volunteered as a child guardian I saw numerous people who just sat around, slept late, collected food stamps and intentionally kept themselves under the poverty line so they could collect aid. That makes me sick and while I don’t want them "exterminated" I do feel we need to put an end to it and get them into the work force.

Let me guess OP, you read The Daily Mail on a daily basis and believe everything that is written in it? Its no wonder you have such a warped view of your fellow british citizens.

You really need to better misinform yourself. How do you expect to win if you aren't up on the latest disinformation tactics? Know thy enemy. Be not ignorant of his machinations.

It is not so simple as to say that because you think you have seen one fnord you've seen them all. fnords mutate. fnords become super-fnords that resist the usual mind cleansing techniques thus broad-spectrum mindlessness must be employed to combat them, leading to even more resistant fnordification.

I recommend profnordotics to ensure the good fnords keep the disease-causing fnords in balance.

Since I was 16 years old I have worked - I did through both College and University. Unfortunately about a month ago I was made redundant (working in the private sector on public sector projects) and have been on the dole since.

This past month has officially been the worst month of my entire life so far. When I tell people I am on the dole they automatically place me in with the wasters who have no intention of working. Even the people who work at the job centre look down on me and always talk to me with a condescending attitude. I've had many interviews but not been offered a job yet, so I assumed there might be a problem with my interview technique. Last time I signed on I requested help and support with this possible issue. What did they do? They dismissed it and informed me nothing was available. They even told me that they don't really advertise the job I do, or understand what I do, so their attitude is just to let me get on with it and not help me with my job search!!

I asked once about the other people who were at the job centre. I was told that those people were unemployable and they just let them turn up to collect their benefits!! What a system, eh?

One thing I will say is that I signed on immediately after being made redundant. I have been contributing to national insurance now for 10 years and that means I am ENTITLED to that dole money. I would recommend that to any tax payer from any country who finds themselves unemployed.

Geordie, yours is a classic case of what the dole is therefore, to help people out when they really need it. Where I live in UK recently a Steel works was closed and thousands lost their jobs and were in the exact position you find yourself in.

I was thinking about this the other day and it got me quite mad to be honest. This complete bull# system we have in UK where Idiots who couldnt be arsed to go to school and cant be arsed to get a job sit there with their hands out and take mojney off the government for doing absolutely # all. well Im sick if it and sick of them, no wonder this country is on its way down the toilet when god knows how much of our budget is geared towards creating enough money to cover paying for these frauds. Make the bastards #in work for it at least, theres plenty stuff that needs doing. If your on hand outs for so long and still you have no job then bye bye benefits, if you still want money work for it like all of us suckers do. Bastards lowest of the low, not an ounce of pride, honour or ambition between them. How can you go through life knowing youve achieved nothing and not being bothered. They should all be castrated and the crime commiting resource draining arseholes of this group should be put to sleep.

I firmly believe there should be regulations if you are getting government assistance. You must prove that you are actively seeking employment, submit to drug screens, show proof that the benefits you are receiving are being used in the manner they were intended, etc. Also you should be required to do labor for the state weekly. Such as highway cleanup and maintenance, work at a shelter or clean government buildings and offices.

Exactly, official receipts to show exactly where the government money is going should be brought in, Or maybe the government should issue each benefit reciever a debit card which the government could then monitor. £400 on a european cruise, really?? We thought your kid was desprate for a school uniform??

I think you'll find the Government DOES monitor bank accounts my dear. Maybe not as diligently as you'd like, but nevertheless they do.
Lets bring back the poorhouse, feed em gruel - that will sort the unwashed blighters out...whatwhatwhat.

Some of you people live in bloody lala land. £400 quid on a cruise and a 60inch flat screen telly? That's the domain of the big time benefits crooks, the ex police officers and their wives turning a flanker. Not some £130 a week single mother.

Get a bleeding grip...

What about all the money spent on criminals in the prisons.

I was on benefits for some time, it's hard when you get stuck in a system that does very little to help you out, especially in the recession when very few people are hiring except for very specialized jobs.

There are so many people who look for work but aren't the best option to hire.

Would you rather the streets become littered with homeless who will just ask you directly for your money?

I'd say a very small percentage of the tax you pay goes to jobseekers and benefit claimers. Most goes into the prisons, hospitals (would you like them to stop too?) schools and roads.

Quit your job and join them if you like...

And who do you think is going to pay for these "Boot camps"? You are out of your tax.
Fact is (as I said I was on Jobseekers benefits) they do send you to Job seekers training places were they may place you into a work trial/experiance postion. If you don't show they will stop your benefits.

The funding freed up by closing these 'youth detention centers', or keep the centers and put army guys in there.

They're not youth detention centre's.
People of all ages go there. They teach you things like writing CV's and how to send them out effectivly, basically cold calling/sending your CV's to any place in the yellow pages. I sent out over 60 CV's, I got one reply for an interview and didn't get it after the interview, 3 reply's rejected me. 4 out of 60 companies. Were's the justice in that???

Not everybody can handle an army lifestyle so they would then just be back were they started.

The solution lies in fixing the system to help put more people into work, not revoking the system altogether.
