but thats the definition of madness doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result there must be more to our existence than this! if not then whats the point ? by your words I assume you believe in reincarnation here is my problem with that 5125 years ago the population was alot less than now agreed? where are all the new souls coming from ?

I never said you had to do the same thing over and over again, thats your choice if you want to...
reincarnation yeah why not if you want to, or enlightenment, or a fall into the abyss , its your choice, you set the rules , you define the test.. to take one part of my statement and over analyze it, is also your choice

where do the souls come from... well somethings you need to ask yourself... because if i gave you all the answers then the test you impossed upon yourself wouldnt be much fun now would it..
you ask what the point is?, look in the mirror, your the point..
as your signature says...."We are the dreamers, shapers, singers and makers" now its up to you you to decide how much you want to shape from the chaos..

Wow, so many people believe in different things. If you need religion in your life to make you feel complete, good for you! I grew up Catholic and was an Altar Boy untill I grew to the age of reason and started thinking for myself instead of what others wanted. The only guaranteed thing in religion is it controls mass population. I firmly believe God committed adultery, Mary was a whore and Jesus was the bastard son from that union. And since Jesus died for all our sins I am already forgiven for thinking that way.

Wow. At least i'm not the only one who feels that way. Religion is a tool to control the populous. Yes, now and then, we need a tool, but that is all it is, a tool. A book to teach of right and wrong and stories of such. A tool to learn from, a starting place, thats all. The tool, WE the people, are suppose to follow, but unfortunately others feel that they are above people and that is what causes problems. Thus, why the book was made. I see it as a tool and use it acordingly. Tho i never sat down and read the whole bible. Some peoples read it and do bad anyways. I am, who i am, nothing more or less. I learn in my environment, in hopes to better myself in lifes.

collectively we all do the same things over and over again expecting a different result ie work school religion and that is not by choice but the systems & institutions that govern us ie church state even here we are governed by mods I actually agree with some of what you said. that its all by choice my problem is when others in positions of power make choices on our behalf without consulting those affected for example cause this just happened here I chose to post a reply on a thread where a member was deciding to leave ats due to censorship now the whole thread has disappeared that was not my choice but someone else in a position of power who made a choice now perhaps I do set the rules in this game of life but I see no endgame no real purpose to the tests in life it really feels like a waste of time. there is no prize at the end of the struggle of life only death my question is is there more? or is this all there is ? and if this is all there is then there really was no point at all

Who's to say what is a lie and what is the truth. I've decided what I believe the truth is.

It's really just that simple because when it comes to any belief system the fact is that nobody is going to REALLY find out for sure if their choice was true or not until their dead.

As far as knowing for a fact whether you're right or wrong - well...It might as well be a stock market forecast.
Sure you can over analyze the chart, look at the formations and crunch all the numbers...but that doesn't mean you're right.

So I guess my view is that you might as well decide what you're going to believe now, stick with it and hang on to your nuts cause it's going to be a crazy ride no matter where you're sitting.

My answer is .. do you want more ? this time around death is what you call the end game.. i call it a transition.
we choose to try out this 3D hologram for a while.. if you like it, come back, if not move on, or choose to die.. its your choice, if you dont enjoy the ride anymore, then you dont have to return.. live, die, create a reality, live in someone elses, be a player or a pawn.. choose to see that its not a race to a destination or race to an end .. like i said there is nothing we dont choose, we just haven't looked hard enough into ourselves to see what or why we want from all this.
I cant map out the path for you, no one can, you know it. if you dont like the world like it is, then do what your soul tells you, what ever that may be..you set your boundaries, you can choose to live inside the walls, or climb over them.
the things i think we re looking for, are the things we choose to forget to make it more fun..
be or be not... that is the only real answer

For me it's a test of my devotion to Christianity.

It doesn't matter what your belief system is though.
We all will have to make a choice at some point.
Some people will change their minds easily - some won't.

The whole concept behind the testing is to see if you actually believe or if you're just paying lip service.

For example:

Here's a quick story to summarize the concept.

Sunday morning church service
2 guys in black hoodies with AR15s kick the back door in and yell out
"Who's ready to take a bullet for Jesus?!?!?"
Easily 9 out of 10 people run for the exits - the choir leaves, the music director leaves, even the deacons leave
Once the dust settles the man says
"Ok pastor, now that the hypocrites are gone you can have church"
And they leave

you are correct in regards to a testing

for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. "But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.

Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. -New Testament Scriptures

My question, is would you dive in to the abyss to find and help someone you didn't know, who some think might not deserve a second chance? its easy to take a bullet for jesus, because you think that would be the way to true salvation, but Jesus doesn't need to be saved.. the true test is how far down the abyss would you go to save everyone else first...

Taking a bullet for Jesus sounds a bit extreme to me.
But what ever floats your boat.

Yeah - it's extreme but it's just a metaphor...then again...is there anything you would take a bullet for?

If not then you should spend some time thinking about whether or not there is anything you actually believe in that nobody can take away from you or change.
A core of your own truth at your center - something you'd take a stand for

If you don't have a part of you that refuses to be moved by others than you become nothing more than a puppet that can through time eventually be molded into whatever the molder desires.

We're all going to die eventually anyway

If necessary: (quick list...not comprehensive by any means)
I'd die to protect my family.
I'd die to protect innocents.
I'd die to defend future generations.

And if the choice was to renounce my faith or die - I'd die.

Of course - I'd really really really like to avoid any of that if at all possible.

That would be true selflessness - there's not enough of that in the world.
It'd be such a better place if nobody was worried about themselves but instead took all of that energy and redirected it to helping others.
Like a gigantic gift swap.

Thinking about life death and what one as a human being values is natural.
I just have never really though about it in the terms man I'm gonna take a bullet for this it's kind of violent imagery.
Oh well to each his own my friend.

Who's to say what is a lie and what is the truth.

TPTB the institutions that control us and dictate how we live work play. ie church and state. I have no problem with the teachings of christ buddha mohammud. they all ultimately taught peace and love for others. it's the organizations surrounding them I have a problem with. the few who decide the fate of the many. the ones that destroy our ability to choose. who limit our ability to evolve beyond the prison planet we call earth, ask yourself this question what would the world be like with out these institutions and everyone were more christ buddha mohammud like? instead of all for one or one for all but all for all. then perhaps this planet wouldnt be so bad and I wouldn't want to leave but be content to remain but as it stands mankind as a whole has proven for the past 5125 years that we can't do this alone so now I look to the stars for something greater than ourselves to save us from tptb
our history is beyond bloody it is madness on top of more madness even now with earthquakes that happen on specific dates etc.. chaos to put it simply where is the joy? where is paradise? why do we have to wait till we die to receive the prize? no there must be more here and now if this whole game of life is a test that I created for myself what was I smoking ?

Genuine question:
So you would say that the dinosaur bones in the Earth are God testing your faith as well?

I have my own beliefs which are being tested but not by God. It's being tested by atheist scientists who cling to the belief matter governs mind (or spirit) or there is nothing else but matter. Those people are almost systematically erasing free will, the ability to choose to feel good despite physical circumstances which concensus would deem one must feel bad or depressed. The ability to remain peaceful and even happy when loved ones move on to the great beyond.

Those out to erase such notions are the ones that put their faith in theories which exclude the spirit and hereafter making this life a one time ride promoting instant gratification no matter the consequences (the next generation doesn't matter), they put their faith in the use of mind altering drugs because they are unable to alter it by themselves, having lost an ability which so many of our ancestors have worked on, a free will so anyone can choose to be happy, for which our ancestors suffered immeasurably but which now may never be completed. Slowly free will is being erased and all previous work is being undone, what a loss and what a shame.

The only difference in history is that 'science' cannot be refuted, unless one comes up with a better theory. In the past people could choose a different faith, science does not let much room for that, there is no alternative and it is only growing while religion and faith is diminishing. Our future looks dim, I don't believe humanity will last one generation when all religion is gone from this world.
