Really.. What is the point of this thread?
OP, while I applaud your attempts to inform some mislead people without insulting them, you have failed. I only read the first nine pages of this thread and most of what I saw was flaming and insults.
So what if someone wants to believe the Earth is six thousand years old? Does that affect ANYONE ELSE in ANY way?
Sarah Palin Wants Creationism Taught in School
Yes...this insanity -does- effect others.
It must be refuted, squashed under a mountain of evidence, and humiliated.edit on 16-5-2011 by SaturnFX because: (no reason given)

What that person will notice is one side being rational and scientific in their methods...the other side will seem like total helmet wearing window licking retards (as they tend to do)..and that person will have both his answer, and a healthy avoidance of religious quackery in the process.
Yes.. because either side is "rational and scientific" when they're insulting someone for their beliefs?

-shrugs- its all up to the individual to percieve overall. one side is suggesting a process of scientific investigation is needed to determine the true age of the world, which seems to lead to it being about 4.5 billion years old, and the other side says its about 8k years old because jesus, thats why.
it is what it is. one side is rational, one side is stupid

So it's stupid that people have beliefs that place the Earth at a different age..?
If you believe in the death penalty because of X and someone doesn't believe in it because of Y, that makes the other person stupid?

"Teach both. You know, don’t be afraid of education. Healthy debate is so important, and it’s so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."
So teaching two sides to one story, when both have been prevalent in history is stupid?

So then why does it bother you so much? If you feel that you're right and they're wrong, then that's how it is. I don't understand why teaching two sides to one story makes you so upset. There are obviously people on this planet that see one side, and people that see the other.

There is no other side that is scientific
There is a advanced course called "Theology" where they can learn about all sorts of religious stories from many cultures...let it stay there and stay out of science.
Why does it bother me? because religion is NOT science.
I am getting older...these kids may one day be doctors, and I don't want them confusing religion with science then...deciding to give me a prayer instead of a blood transfusion should I need it.

Noone knows with certainty, any truth. To says you do moves you into the realm of faith.

So, a 3 minute old idea, and a 3 thousand year old idea are different? do stupid lies somehow gain truth through fermentation or something?

Where did I state or imply that? If people can believe thousands of years of scientific work, why can't they believe thousands of years of religious faith if they so choose?

They can believe what they want to believe frankly...its when they try and indoctrinate our children into the belief, stamp it on our currency, shove it in our pledges to country, create giant networks of tax exempt mansions in the best real estate, blow up clinics providing medical services for women, blow up towers, kill people, etc...ya, thats when it goes from their harmless little delusions to a big problem.

Creationists blow up towers and clinics, and even KILL people on a regular basis? Are you saying people who believe in evolution theory can't or don't blow things up and/or kill people?
