OP, while I applaud your attempts to inform some mislead people without insulting them, you have failed. I only read the first nine pages of this thread and most of what I saw was flaming and insults.

So what if someone wants to believe the Earth is six thousand years old? Does that affect ANYONE ELSE in ANY way?

Sarah Palin Wants Creationism Taught in School

Yes...this insanity -does- effect others.

It must be refuted, squashed under a mountain of evidence, and humiliated.

Really.. I didn't know you were losing sleep because someone had a different point of view.

What that person will notice is one side being rational and scientific in their methods...the other side will seem like total helmet wearing window licking retards (as they tend to do)..and that person will have both his answer, and a healthy avoidance of religious quackery in the process.

Yes.. because either side is "rational and scientific" when they're insulting someone for their beliefs?

-shrugs- its all up to the individual to percieve overall. one side is suggesting a process of scientific investigation is needed to determine the true age of the world, which seems to lead to it being about 4.5 billion years old, and the other side says its about 8k years old because jesus, thats why.

it is what it is. one side is rational, one side is stupid

When that different point of view wants to make policy to dumb the kids down (more) with my tax dollars, your damn right I am losing sleep.

Tell ya what though, theists can teach creationism in school the day porn stars can teach kinky positions in school alongside em. Both funded by tax dollars
deal?

So it's stupid that people have beliefs that place the Earth at a different age..? If you believe in the death penalty because of X and someone doesn't believe in it because of Y, that makes the other person stupid?

"Teach both. You know, don’t be afraid of education. Healthy debate is so important, and it’s so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."

So teaching two sides to one story, when both have been prevalent in history is stupid?

Yes
It is not about disagreeing with the date because of inaccuracys with the dating process, and suggesting a different number together because of equal evidence pointing at something different.
its denying evidence of a date because...
because...

well, because jesus, thats why!

If you believe in the death penalty because of X and someone doesn't believe in it because of Y, that makes the other person stupid?

That is what is known as a strawman argument that has no actual relevance towards the discussion.

a philosophical disagreement about a philosophical stance is equal. the age of the earth is not a philosophical pondering, it is a hard science discussion.

So then why does it bother you so much? If you feel that you're right and they're wrong, then that's how it is. I don't understand why teaching two sides to one story makes you so upset. There are obviously people on this planet that see one side, and people that see the other.

Teaching both what? porn and creationism?

so, which story of creation should be taught? tell me why a fairy tale should be given equal time as thousands of years of tireless educated study and measurements?

Can they teach about my theory I literally came up as I am writing this line? About Grog the vomitous galactic creator whom eats giant marshmellows in space and vomits galaxys?
The giant puke that started the universe we live in, and how the world is covered in green because of the bile Grog has spewed forward?

It -may- be true...because there is no absolute proof it is not. I could have just channeled true universal knowledge. Do you agree that this theory then should be given equal time in school as say, chemistry? After all, its important to clutter our kids mind with as much ungrounded belief systems in science as possible.

Actually, I like this...All hail Grog the vomiter...may the children learn of your truth through tax payer funded teachings.

There is no other side that is scientific
There is a advanced course called "Theology" where they can learn about all sorts of religious stories from many cultures...let it stay there and stay out of science.

Why does it bother me? because religion is NOT science.
I am getting older...these kids may one day be doctors, and I don't want them confusing religion with science then...deciding to give me a prayer instead of a blood transfusion should I need it.

To all the scientific minds: I believe the bible is really God's word. You may be right...I may be totally blinded about my wacky beliefs. But if it keeps me from becoming venomous and spiteful such as youselves, then it was a gain for me in my ignorance.

Noone knows with certainty, any truth. To says you do moves you into the realm of faith.

You really think doctors confuse science and religion?

How do you know your mother is your mother and not some random woman down the street?
After all, you don't know for certainty...you weren't really there (aware anyhow)

Congratulations on your happiness in willful acknowledged ignorance...been a pleasure having you on ATS...however, I guess you will be going now considering...you know..the motto..."deny ignorance"

So, a 3 minute old idea, and a 3 thousand year old idea are different? do stupid lies somehow gain truth through fermentation or something?

Where did I state or imply that? If people can believe thousands of years of scientific work, why can't they believe thousands of years of religious faith if they so choose?

Yes, I think they do.

"I began to give them Reiki as part of their treatment."

"After receiving regular Reiki treatments, and still under psychiatric supervision, "

So.. they got the two confused by trying BOTH methods? By trying both methods at the SAME TIME they got the two confused?

They can believe what they want to believe frankly...its when they try and indoctrinate our children into the belief, stamp it on our currency, shove it in our pledges to country, create giant networks of tax exempt mansions in the best real estate, blow up clinics providing medical services for women, blow up towers, kill people, etc...ya, thats when it goes from their harmless little delusions to a big problem.

Creationists blow up towers and clinics, and even KILL people on a regular basis? Are you saying people who believe in evolution theory can't or don't blow things up and/or kill people?

Not saying they can't
