Cell Phones Caused Mysterious Worldwide Bee Deaths, Study Finds Read more: www.foxnews.com...

Cellphone transmissions may be responsible for a mysterious, worldwide die off in bees that has mystified scientists.

Dr. Daniel Favre, a former biologist with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland, carefully placed a mobile phone underneath a beehive and then monitored the reaction of the workers.

According to a story in The Daily Mail, the bees were able to tell when the handsets were making and receiving calls. They responded by making the high pitched squeaks

Wow... just getting started on my first hive and this comes out. I think we need to be taking a harder look at what our wonderful world of electronics is doing to our planet: cancer rates, destruction of nature for 'rare earth minerals/metals', effects on animals, plants, etc.

Hopefully we can figure out a way to insulate the bees, or develop different forms of communication before its too late.

Fascinating stuff. SAVE THE BEES!!!

Around 20 to 40 minutes after the phones were activated, the bees began to emit "piping" calls - a series of high pitched squeaks that announce the start of swarming. Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk...

It sounds like this study to me shows that cell phones may attribute more towards turning bees into killer swarms. In addition to Bayer, I wonder how much Monsanto paid for this as well. I also find it weird that no where in the article did it state that any bees died while the study was going on.

So are they honestly trying to say that there were cell phones near all the hives?

This is pseudo science....

Well there is no way cellphones will go away.

Its much more important to be able to ask your friends and family 50 times a day "whatcha doin'?" "nothin'" than it is for us to have bees to pollinate our crops.

the bees probably get agitated because of the frequency that the cell phone uses, but i would wager that the increased amount of roundup spraying is the main culprit of the bees dieing off.

I watched a video a cou8ple yrs ago on youtube where the cameraman was filming a new digital transmission tower in canada. Within a few hrs of activation, the base of the tower was covered with honey bees acting clumsy and uncoordinated. I posted the story and contacted some beekeeping orgs to no avail. Noone returned my calls and the video was deleted very soon after. Amazing coincidence that McPain's bill forcing everyone to digital TV signal and the major decline shortly after in the bee population.

TOTALLY agree with the Monsanto tip. Something i read in my bee keeping book was how when CCD hits a hive, the hive becomes basically a 'ghost town', no other colonies take over the hive. Almost like a 'no man's (bees') land.

Exactly! Unless you figuring all the beekeepers had cell phones in their pockets the entire time and were texting with tens of thousand of bees buzzing around. lol
its almost like they throwing anything at the wall to make it stick in the public's eye.

Sooooooo true, it's not even funny. I wonder though if cell phones are like mini portable HAARPs for bees?

@BlesUTP- hivemind!

Cellphones huh? That's certainly a new angle.

What if it is dynamite that is causing these deaths?
I think I'll light a stick of dynamite and place it near a hive to see how the bees react.

mobile phones killing bees, and Wi-Fi killing trees..www.dailymail.co.uk... ..birds falling out of the sky and sharks been washed up with internal bleeding.. the worlds dieing on its feet

Big Chemical, Big Pharma, and Monsanto.....

They own the researchers and the media with which to report it.

So when the phones were ringing or had sounds coming from the headset they got agitated?

Wow who would have thought that would happen. I garuntee that if I set a windup alarm clock underneath a hive and let it go off I would get the same results.

if this science is indeed sound, it can have profound implications!!

IF: cell phones can and do TAKE OUT bees....

well then perhaps......

bees can take out people on cell phones !!

now, I just have to figure out how to mount a hive to my truck.

Aye, I thought they had finally settled on the neonicotinoid insecticides being responsible?

Then again, every day I hear about something I previously thought I knew being wrong after having been proved right, so maybe all possibilities are now always correct...

if this claim is true - then why doesnt CCD mirror cellphone coverage ?

if this were true - every bee in england and northern france should be dead - but in reality - CCD rates are higher in rural ameerican states - with sparse 3G infrastructure
