AP sources: US Mideast peace envoy George Mitchell plans to resign

www.washi ngtonpost.com

The Obama administration’s special Mideast envoy, former Sen. George Mitchell, is resigning after more than two largely fruitless years of trying to press Israel and the Palestinians into peace talks, U.S. officials said Friday.

The White House is expected to announce that the veteran mediator and broker of the Northern Ireland peace accord is stepping down for personal reasons, the officials told The Associated Press. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of an afternoon announcement that will follow a White House meeting between Mitchell and President Barack Obama.

Well I think it can be said that history is not on his side or our side or anyone's for that matter. You can't take thousands of years worth of hatred and expect it to go away with 2 signatures on a piece of paper. The only thing I see that will bring peace is war, that's when one side is destroyed and the other survives.

Found this current related ATS Thread regarding PSALM 83.

AboveTopSecret Psalms 83 to be fulfilled May13-15

It is in the ATS Predictions & Prophecies Forum but the OP did a fine job of laying out the Psalm and then added opinion. Definitely worth a read even if just for FYI purposes.

It is very simple. Our governments are rotten to the bone (not just in the West) and one man cannot achieve peace by himself.

I just finished a documentary on how corporations like Shell and BP dictate British foreign policy, how hypocrite Gordon Brown went to the Middle East a couple of weeks ago on a weapon sales tour in the Gulf and stopped on his way back to sell some more to the newly established regime in Egypt. It showed how hypocritical our leaders truly are. When they invade Iraq and people rise up in Iran: they are more than eager to blow the democracy trumpet, yet when their puppet dictators tend to fall, they are suddenly not so enthusiastic anymore. Because who knows, the very same democracy might bring a regime to power that is not so much Western-minded.

Jeroen van de Veer, former CEO of Shell admitted on video that oil and politics are interrelated. You don't truly believe that mankind is that stupid that they are still dependent on black sticky gunk, now do you? The oil corporations and OPEC nations pay a lot of money to keep the illusion alive, meanwhile the US benefits through its dollar hegemony.

You see, our governments are corrupt, they are dictated by corporate and dubious organizations, such as AIPAC. Israel is not truly interested in peace, but they pay American politicians to help them pretending they are. It's a big farce.

I attended a guest lecture today by noble price winner Professor Stiglitz who insinuated that Wallstreet and the Fed are responsible for the financial crisis and our governments as well. Why? Because they allowed corporate America to remove the regulations that enabled them to speculate us all into depression.

I lost trust in our politicians a long time ago and so should you. There is no hope for a better future with corrupt, greedy and evil people in our governments.

I am surprised that this possible resignation is not being commented on ATS.

Thousands of Middle Eastern people are in route to march & protest against Israel and our Middle East Envoy ups and quits?

Egyptians urge rulers to step up Palestinian support

By Sami Aboudi | Reuters – Fri, 13 May, 2011 CAIRO (Reuters) - Thousands of Egyptians took to the streets on Friday to push their military rulers to do more to help Palestinians following the overthrow of the country's president Hosni Mubarak. Many Egyptians felt Mubarak, a U.S. ally, was too soft on Israel and want their new government to take a much stronger pro-Palestinian stand. The gatherings in Cairo, Alexandria and El-Arish come amidst preparations by activists to organize a march to the Gaza Strip on Sunday, May 15 -- which Palestinians mark as the anniversary of their 1948 displacement following the establishment of Israel.

Thousands protest for Palestinian right of return

By DALE GAVLAK
Associated Press AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Thousands rallied in support of Palestinians on Friday, with demonstrators in Jordan's capital heeding a call by Facebook organizers to demand a sovereign Palestinian state, others near the Jordanian-Israeli border chanting "Death to Israel," and still more activists filling Cairo's Tahrir Square. Palestinian youth groups called for protests in the West Bank and nearby Arab countries to mark the anniversary of the May 15, 1948, creation of the Jewish state. Palestinians call the anniversary the "day of catastrophe" because of the refugee crisis and loss of land that accompanied the creation of Israel.

Israel-Palestinian violence erupts on three borders

Anyone see any correlation between to leaked information of the resignation and current Middle East Turmoil yet?

I honestly believe it will become much worse as the target date is today for the conflict/protests.

Waiting to hear a response from the Muslim Brotherhood

Israeli troops open fire on Nakba Day border protests

Israeli troops opened fire on pro-Palestinian demonstrators attempting to breach its borders on three fronts, killing at least eight people. Scores more were wounded at Israel's borders with Syria, Lebanon and Gaza.

The video is actually pretty weak but all I could find.

Could easily just be some stock footage of any US City after an NBA Playoff Game.
