I remember not that long ago, ATS was a place to learn and share ideas about different topics, but lately it seems that it has become a news outlet. Anything that you can find on AOL, or Yahoo news is all of the recent topics. Before anyone says "Why dont you start a topic for learning, I have tried and failed, as it seems that this has become a sensationalized news forum, as opposed to a sharing and learning place.

I know that due to this influx in "sensationalized" news, I have refrained from taking the time to start a thread that I am fully aware will be ignored. So I propose that those out there that have a very good topic, something for sharing and learning, you are welcome to send me a U2U (as some members do already) to make me aware that your thread is around. I would rather go through my U2U's them continue to refresh recent topics, and see the same stories.

Peace, NRE.

I will have to agree with you.

I usually go by recent posts but lately there is no point. It's all the same stuff in multiple threads.

Most aren't even stories just people thoughts and opinions with nothing else.

We should start a u2u chain for some of the more "intelligent" members, That choose not to read into the propaganda and BS..

I agree, there are already a few members that do this, and even if I dont have anything to contribute to their threads, I always read them, and learn something from them. If some sort of "chain" of members did this, I would be much happier with knowing that even if only a few members saw it, it was worth it.

Or even if the U2U system seemed to complicated, I have recently been adding more friends to my list, especially of those people that add threads that interest me, and then go into my friends threads, to check them all out. I mean if we cant change whats going on, we can at least try to find a solution, so that we all get a fair share of learning, and sharing.

Peace, NRE.

After being here for a few Months, I am starting to agree. I will admit that I fell into the MSM repeater mode at first as I assumed this is what the site direction was.

Lately I have been pleasantly made aware that there are more meatier threads and members here that offer more than a snack. So I have been searching out the real 'Meat' so to speak. It takes a lot of searching tho.

Add me to your U2U list please. I need Brain Food!

Thanks!

Hi NRE I always enjoy your posts! I know and understand what you mean, I recently started this thread www.abovetopsecret.com... Key Planetary Alignment Dates through October 2011 I thought it was a good thread, with all the planets in question listed and lots of other info. But it was largely ignored

I haven't been here that long..but I came because when I joined their were so many great topics and not a lot of repeating threads, just some real thought provoking ideas. Anyways I agree with you, but I have no solution except for ATS itself to only allow so many threads on any one particular topic. But then that would be censorship. So I don't know..SnF cheers coco

If you define Elitism as, Not being part of the now "mainstream crowd" at ATS then call it what you will.. But i'm not a mainstream thinker.. I am a Free thinker..

And i believe our more intellectual members don't deserve to read through the piles of garbage, and pointless threads..

I will say this, this is a good start. I have added you guys to my friends lists, and check to see if any new threads were written. I always knew there was a good amount of people that were feeling this way, and I am more then happy at this point in knowing that I will have some good stuff to read.

Thanks, NRE.

I joined here after a few months of just reading post's because of the wide ranging and diverse opinions of others.
It's just that the last few weeks I've noticed an "I'm more intelligent than you" attitude from a few longer serving members, and yes I'll agree there are some superior thinkers on this site, thats another reason I like coming here to learn from said people, but that doesn't mean less educated people like myself don't have valid points and perspectives too.
It's just that its harder for some to express what they mean to the same extent as others.

Thats not the point.. And i am not talking down upon.. or frowning down on any members in particular..

You are correct YOU do very much have the right to information.. just as myself and anyone else.. This chain would be open to anyone that wants to participate in INTELLIGENT conversations, and threads..

Not for the soap oprah garbage, that takes place in "certain" threads.. With the pointless name calling and flame wars.. that turned ATS into a complete joke..

Because so far.. The media is making a laughing stalk out of the conspiracy theorist community.. And a simple skim through the new topic fire hose should show you why..

I guess I might have jumped the gun a bit with the ELITIST comment, and you do have valid points about the flaming that goes on in a lot of threads, so I'm going to stop this here and offer a handshake.

By using the U2U system, we are in no way not making our threads inaccessible to other members. When and if we decide that we enjoyed each others threads, we are actually keeping them "alive" in the recent posts. Without having to worry about others missing out, by having news threads, cover the recent pages.

This isn't about who is smarter, or not. This is a way for us to share, without having to exactly go through the middle man of the recent thread process. If someone U2U's me their thread, and I like it, I can read it, star it, flag it, or contribute to it, by doing any of those things, I am keeping a valued thread alive, and giving props to the person that took the time to write it. As well as giving it time to be viewed by other members, who may have missed it.

Peace, NRE.

Good thread! I stopped even going to alot of these threads long ago most are just cut and paste from the news media some don't even have a comment on the thread most i can read on CNN or my local news paper or they post a utube video with what do you think? and don't even comment on what they think about the video.. Its like there posting just in hopes of getting stars and flags ..I enjoy threads were the ATS members think out of the box ..Multiple threads are annoying and im seeing more and more of it.. ATS went to great lengths to set up a very good search function that very few seem to use and i don't see any end to it and this summer yes its going to get worse as TechVampyre stated..S&F

Well hello! Can I be added to your list?
I may not be the greatest poster of the world, but I'm a good reader! A day where I have learned something is a good day!

PS If you have a list, will we have one also to buzz people on the good threads?

Sometimes I write without thinking oops
, and the point to your post is right many of the great threads are obscured straight away by the ticker tape of news that I've already read on other sites.
In all honesty when I joined up I thought thats what this site was about as all the recent posts were peoples opinions on news, however after doing a lot of digging I've found lots of amazingly well written and objective threads.
Some have even truely enlightened me and others that I've taken bits from seem to be making a real difference in my outlook and life.
Note to self read think then reply

I did what you said and here's what came up; What if we asked for a system of colored stars?

Like Blue for very informative and developed in length OPs, and Red ones for short, like none existent ones. ( aka "What do you think?" )

That way we would know that 5 stars in Blue are way more indicative than 105 Red...

What do you think?
