ATLANTA — A spokesman for Newt Gingrich says the former House speaker is running for president. Rick Tyler told The Associated Press that Gingrich will make it official Wednesday with announcements on Facebook and Twitter. He will give an interview to Fox News later that night.

does newt have what it takes? has america already forgot the baggage of newt? and can newt withstand the 24/7 left wing attack machine?

still to early to tell a lot of things can happen the cards are stacked against him and can he even defeat obama?

Really Really really really. Today I just saw CNN have a poll of the favorability of Gingrich and least to say it was not good.

If Obama can withstand the 24/7 right wing attack machine, I am sure Newt can, he is big boy.

I will say that Newt is a greasy, nasty sucker and is not comparable to Paul, although many know my problem with Paul too. Newt is a professional politician in that he has been around over thirty years and uses his positions to pimp books.

I would like someone who is in the middle myself, not a full blown clueless, corporate ho, not a total control freak, not a warmonger, willing to look at all angles of the budget, close loop holes, address fraud, waste, TRADE... I am not digging the all or nothing ideas too much.

Go Newt,

Hasn't Newt ran (or at least talked of running ) a bunch of times before?

Newt is a smart guy in many ways. I tend to lean right on many things. So what I'm about to do doesn't give me any pleasure.

I'm gonna go out a limb and predict answers to your questions.

does newt have what it takes?
No - Sorry like I said, he's a smart guy in lots of ways but he's never struck me as President matieral.

has america already forgot the baggage of newt?
Nope - Especially not the women. Even when he was just thinking of running Mrs. Frogs said to me, "He'll never get elected after what he did to his wife."

can newt withstand the 24/7 left wing attack machine?
No. They have too much ammo when it comes to Newt.

I'm rather surprised he has the audacity to run, after the things he did and the lies he told.
The sight of him is the epitome of hypocrisy -- I can't abide it. I don't think he'll do well.

as a citizen of Canada, I find it difficult to imagine that man as your president or even Americans in general wanting him to lead. He isn't very ...presidential.

Answers: No. Probably but they will be reminded with a coordinated attack campaign waged by MSM at Obama's request but their own expense. No.

I can tell you I can't stand The grinch myself - he is the consumate douche bag pollitican but should he end up being the horse running against Obama he's got my vote.

Then again, I'd vote for almost anyone who runs against him - how can they possibly be worse.

I'd like to see it be Paul but won't hold my breath for that one.

Pretty sad reason to vote for someone.

But - I'll just cancel out your vote.

Annee, I find it very rude that you said you would just cancel out this persons vote. The ENTIRE reason we do this is so that everyone's vote may be counted, to claim to deny ones freedom to do so, or in this case deem it useless, denies this person of the rights we cherish. Which is not what we are here for and accomplishes absolutely nothing.

It doesn't matter who wins in 2012, because the U.S will still lose.

Newt has one hell of an uphill battle against him -- and by far the biggest road block is the issue of his infidelity.

And here's the kicker -- he is placing his wife Callista in the spotlight firmly by his side.

There are few things women hold true and dear to their hearts: their children, their husband/partner and the idea of faithfulness. A vow of fidelity is one of the most sacred promises that a person undertakes in their life. And it ties in most closely with a person's honor, sense of ethics and integrity.

So now that Newt has thrown his hat in the ring you've literally got a mighty high percentage of potential women voters who aren't thinking to kindly of the man. After all, he decided to divorce his first wife as she was recovering from cancer. And he carried on a SIX YEAR affair with Callista before he dumped his second wife. That is a hell of a lot of baggage.

Then there is Callista Gringrich. The OTHER woman. Women will always hate the Other Woman. There is no forgiveness to be had in that area. Why would any woman trust the Other Woman when that woman has no compunction with carrying on with a married man. The Other Woman will always be viewed as a home wrecker, a harlot, someone to be viewed as less than dirt. The Other Woman simply cannot be trusted.

Which brings us back to Newt -- a savvy politician who built his reputation on a family-values/morality platform. A man who has proven himself to be a hypocrite in the most base sense. A man who still carries the taint of the Other Woman who is standing by his side.

I cannot fathom how he will possibly pull this off in light of the fact that he has pretty much alienated a good portion of the female voting population.

I would vote for an inanimate object before Obama - at least the inanimate object can't make things worse.

He is the antithesis of who an American President should be - he is a liar; a cheat, a criminal thug and for good measure a racist as well.

He has been raiding the treasury and our freedoms to pay back his Communist and Marxist pals.

I’ve read plenty of your posts – enough to know you'd likely vote for Obama if he had a 13 year old hooker on one arm and the red button in the other - bottle of mescal on the desk with a pile of money...

The blind cult of worship behind this douche-in-chief has been far more damaging to our freedoms and our way of life than any blind desire of mine to unseat him ever will be.
