Noam Chomsky: "The U.S. And Its Allies Will Do Anything to Prevent Democracy in the Arab World"

Democracy Now

political dissident and linguist Noam Chomsky analyzes the U.S. response to the popular uprisings sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. "Across the [Middle East], the overwhelming majority of the population regards the United States as the main threat to their interests," Chomsky says. "The reason is very simple ... Plainly, the U.S. and allies are not going to want governments, which are responsive to the will of the people. If that happens, not only will the U.S. not control the region, but it will be thrown out."

Facts speak louder than propaganda. Noam tells it like it is no way will the USA let them have any kind of real democracy. Have a listen and tell us what you think.

If being opposed to the “will of the people” with respect to Egypt and the Middle East means the US and Europe opposed the formation Islamic republics populated with mindsets from the 12th century is wrong … then I don’t want to be right. Sorry, but Chomsky is an amazingly transparent hypocrite.

wow you really buy into the whole Islam is uncivilized line eh methinks you need to look into the real history in the middle east. Just because you see a story about some barbaric sharia practices in the local news does not make them all so...

whats more even if they are what right do you or the rest of America have to impose your views on them. Or at least use that guise to steal their resources and prob up the very barbaric dictators you so denounce?

Its not they are “uncivilized” but its not really a line to say that majority muslim nations are hostile to nearly every value modern democratic societies are built upon. Additionally, I have no issue with my country using whatever “soft power” we have at our disposal to shape events that may one day threaten us. As oppressive as the Egyptian dictatorship under Mubarak was, it wont be anything near as bad as an Islamic republic.

Chomsky is a doddering old fool. Everyone knows it is Islam that is acting against the re-introductionmof Western thought into the backwards lands of the Muslims.
