Should Christian threads be moved to the hoax bin?

Heya folks

A thread popped up asking a semi-valid question. Why are GFL threads auto-moved to the hoax bin. The basic premise is that some idiot (Blossom Goodchild) predicted something that didn't come true, and until validity comes, its considered a hoax. Sure, lots of spiritualist feel good/bad mumbo jumbo is discussed, but until something of evidence is provided that is without a doubt proof of the claims, then off it goes into the dustbin of ATS.

Got me thinking about this:
The Christians have finally put up (instead of shut up) in their prediction that in this month, we will have Judgement Day

Fantastic...finally they are ready to lay the cards down...Now, have others of the GFL belief squad denied Blossom before her date? sure...but she was more or less the spokesperson due to media attention, and by her acts, all things GFL related (or just fed/light) are considered hoax.

I accept these folks claiming judgement day will be coming this month (may 2011) and should nothing of consequence happen in regards to rapture or whatnot, I suggest ATS not be hypocratic in their ruling of such things and toss this multi-thousand year old hoax in its proper place.

Can some of you explain to me why GFL is a hoax, yet christianity isn't (assuming on the off chance may isn't judgement day after all).

I look forward to the replies...and please, lets cut down on scripture quotes and simply talk to one another rationally.

Jews: Your still greenlighted (barely)...you have made the wise decision not to timestamp any predictions yet, so still grey area imo.
Islam: You count on christianity to piggyback your religion...so your out also (blame a christian for invalidating your religion
)
Buddists: Your all good.

Well, its one thing to speculate on something going on
its another to stuff it in concrete date for an event to happen.

Christians have put an absolute date down of events to unfold...to me, either this is going to be a very interesting time coming up, or (more likely) show a hoax for what it is.

I am glad that someone else made a thread about this, but I'm sure it will be made into a hoax. I have felt very discriminated upon by the mods, and almost harassed by members pretty much warning me to stay off ATS, because of my belief. I am going to file a formal complaint, though.

to assume all christians are gfl affiliated seems silly. when may 22 comes and everything is happening normally and nothing changed then you can say its hoax but untill proven to be a hoax it is just speculation like some many things.

I'd suggest both topics should go into the Gray Area, because they are highly speculative and lack serious physical evidence to support their claims.
I'd like to believe in a Galactic Federation out there, but if they do exist, then they are sitting on their rears watching all the pain, suffering, and genocide and not helping those who are crying for assistance. So if they are real, then they can stick their preaching and "hang in there dear ones" BS where the red sun don't shine.

Ha Beautiful post
I'll vote for grey area or hoax. They might have time and numbers on their side but truth is far more debatable

I understood your point, perfectly. The analogy.

After reading the few initial replies, seems that some need to carefully re-read your OP, to get it.

well what if they are one in the same event ??? what if GFL and judgment day come from the same source, and if it does happen will GFL be removed from the hoax bin??? and if it does not happen will all judgment day post/ threads be put as a hoax or moved to a hoax bin???? this should be a lets see, then if it comes and goes and nothing happens the yes move to the hoax bin. that should go for all "time", "event" post threads that pass by with no event, but on the other hand if it becomes fact then ??? is this not why we have mods?

I would say that 99% of Christians do not agree with this prediction that May 22, 2011 is Judgement Day. Sure there may be a higher representation of believers on this site, but in general world wide this isn't even a blip on the radar. Not a single soul at my church has even mentioned it to me. Not even worth trying to disprove it. Pat Robertson is "out there" for a large number of Christians opinion and he's not even going along with this nonsense.

EDIT: Remember Ronald Weinland? Same thing applies to these current predictions I'm sure.

Sure, but the same thing might be said about Muslim's and their support for radical terrorists.

It doesn't stop them from being painted with the same broad brush, right?

So either the terrorists must stand on their own, and their actions should not color legitimate peace-loving Muslim families, or all Christians are as crazy as the May 21st guy.

Consistency is key.

Not a follower / believer of western religions.. But based upon a belief in
1. Freedom of speach.
2. Freedom of religion.

Put them in with the rest of the religion threads - rather than throughout the rest of the forums.

Let people believe what they will. Long as they dont shove their view down everyone elses throat no worries..

Judgment Day: May 21, 2011? Family Radio Network Proclaims the End Is Less Than Two Weeks Away
i should start a towel collection, seems that there might be a lot of "egg" to wipe of, you know the expression "egg on your face"

i agree with Hoax personally

but i think that on the politically correct aspect... that the 'Christian' genre would be more properly put into the 'creative writing' forum

Not all Christians, friend.
You want all Christian threads in the [HOAX] bin?
Or just that prediction thread...? (May 21st)

Great!
I want all atheist threads moved to that bin too.

Just for good measure, of course and equality.

Specifically naming Christians out as hoaxes is like trying to stop noob threads about UFO's.
Particularly the ones found on youtube every hour.
Or trying to stop every prediction thread out there.
Just isn't going to happen.

Besides, the same man who is making this prediction (May 21) had a failed date in the 90's.
So why anyone would believe him is everyone's guess.

I fail to comprehend what seems like your animosity towards Christians.
But then again, I don't understand alot of topics here...
Except Weapons and Tactics.
That's pretty familiar territory.

Yeah, shows how much I actually care about this prediction.

At any rate these are perfectly valid discussions for people to have. They just need to be sure and place them in the correct forums. A few come to mind.

Dreams & (personal) Predictions

Predictions & Prophecies

Conspiracies in Religions (If it involves a conspiracy)

2012 (If the date applies)

Religion, Faith, And Theology

And yes even HOAX for specific instances where the date passed, although these seem to be more along the lines of deliberate trickery and not just those that are misled.

Well this is the way GFL believers are being treated, why can't they be treated the same as every belief? That is his point.

The Bible tells us that NO MAN will know the day or the time of the dispensation. only his heavenly father. Anyone who says they do, unless they are Jesus or Dog, surely doesn't.

If you cut Christianity out of this website, that would be incorrigable. The Bible makes some sense (IF you know how to read it and dont quote garbage in two or three lines out of context, or talk about the old testament which is no longer followed,

Incredulous.
