Has something just hit the moon, or something happened on the moon.

OK..I will admit, i might have been seeing things.
Was in the back garden 10 mins ago...
The moon was about 3oclock position to my right, and I am CONVINCED Something hit the moon, on its 2 o clock place. Look at the moon as a clock and look for 2'o clock, ot seems as if a LOAD of debri has came away and it is NOT round.

Can a few of you PLEASE go have a look and tell me if anything looks strange.
This happened about 10 mins ago.

It is a bit cloudy where I am, but I can still see the half moon. It does seem as if a ploom of "something" has came from the 2 o clock position an its not as round looking as it was.

My camera is out of batteries.

I am wrong, ill say im wrong.
But I am sure something JUST happened up there..

OMG, I can only see half of the moon.

Seriously, it's fine.

I would but its day time where I am. I will have a look later when the sun goes down. Its pretty cloudy right now so I might not be able to see it anyway.

I checked a website on the moon cycles and it's only 48% full, sorry

well i paused my video game, went up stairs, out side, and checked the moon

Just your imagination, the moon is the same as it always has been

It could be a Transient lunar phenomenon

If that is what you saw then consider yourself lucky It's very rare.

Had you gone outside for a "cigarette" when you saw this?

Can't help ya yet, OP... Still bright daylight here where I am. I'll have a look later on, though, since Moongazing and stargazing are some of my favorite things to do

Nothing hit the moon. That was just a film clip from "Space 1999".

But if something had hit the moon it would look alot like this

Yeah, epic FAIL. Haha. ;^).... Refering to the black hearted one

I went out and looked with my daughters small scope and it looked just fine to me so if it got hit it was not very big or was hit in the earths shadow.

went out side with my telescope and nope,not missing a chunk,lol. i did notice a glare on the outer edge.and at 2 o clock there is a crater mark but not on the edge.hope that helps.lol

Hi Shauny, I went out and had a look. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Hard to tell though, what with the cloud rolling by and light pollution.

Thanks for the heads up though.

I had a few funny looks from passers by as I stood on the bridge staring up. A young student gave me a nice and friendly, but "knowing" smile. Like she just knew I was an ATS member.

I'm pretty sure what you perceived as a "ploom of debris" was probably just a very small cloud at the appropriate angle to be perceived as "coming from the moon" objects at longs distances and similar color tend to blend together looking as if they are the same object.

I am always trying to watch that darn ol moon ,, It has me very amazed ,, maybe they are finally doing some construction work above ground seeings that all they do is live in these huge crators and build tunnels like ants

I ALWAYS LOOK UP AT THE SKY AND THE MOON !!!
I have 2 young babies and I only smoke at the other end of the house out the kitchen window I get a cracking view looking south and right up obviously...

It was like something had hit it, just as I was watching, then what looked like a plume of dust coming up. Also "looked" like the same 2 o clock, clear side was not round, very sligtly looked like a tiny tiny edge had came away. Ok it just didnt look 100% round. I shouted my 2 older sons through, and as usual they were like "what now nutjob", But even they could see what was coming up from the moon.

Why didnt I take a picture......? No batteries in my camera.
Last time I took a picture Im sure it was with my camera phone, or it was a sound thing, a rumbling noise.

100% seen this. might be something stupid, but the 3 of us agreed it looked like something hit the moon.
I think I saw a meteor hit the moon...how cool a thought.
