Even though this is just another economist suggesting the Aussie$ could rise to $1.70 towards 2014, I believe his observations are educated.
The demise of the US$ has been evident for the last few years and with Australian resources in demand and lots of them, it becomes a favourable environment for the Au$.
This of course has its benefits for Australians being cheaper imports etc. But it has a downside. Anyhope of Australia building a strong and sustainable manufacturing industry goes out the window.

The up side for the US is that they technically should grow their manufacturing base and create employment and take advantage of it.

I do not see the US dollar recovering.

the Us dollar is sinking
so is the british pound...
if you have inflation your dollar will not last to long...

Though here in Canada Harper, one of Howard's old buddies
lobbied for US style banking which he didn't get
but he is hell bent on tying us to the titanic US and to Mexico as they go down..

hope you have better luck with your proximity to india and china...

of course the US is hell bent on starting a war there in asia which can't be good for OZ

In 1999 it was sitting around $0.52

U.S dollar dropping faster than a strippers g-string on the currency markets.. It went down again today . So the oz dollar may reach that sooner.. Go Oz !!
