The fact remains that it's only Islamic fundamentalists who are blowing people up. Now, I agree that removing them from the plane is ridiculous, but people are going to be uncomfortable, and they should have enough sense to know that. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be outraged, but they shouldn't expect anything less given the current situation.

No; what about Timothy McVeigh, KKK, IRA and many other people or groups whom have done things similar around the world such as hurt or kill innocent people for no reason like their religion, their race, their sexual orientation, their place of origin, or even a person getting drunk and deciding to do something that is stupid.

They may have all been for different reasons but the only thing that matters is that it was done.

Anyone who would blame all for the actions of a few needs to have something happen to them to make them understand how the people discriminated against feel.

Would this have happen if the men were dressed in traditional South American, African, Japanese, Chinese or Indian clothing.

Of course not.
You don't see people blowing up air ports in a dysheeki or a samurai costume

you must be drunk to say something like that.

I can imagine something like that happening... LOL...... but honestly if you don't dress the correct way in the appropriate setting you will get looked at... come on even I do it . So honestly people are going to single these two people out . Then again I don't understand what the big deal is AFTER they got screened like 3 times . Just a bunch of prejudiced bigots I suppose...

If these two guys were supposed terrorists, they would have had blank looks (MKULTRA?) and been Escorted onto the plane by a high ranking person, in spiffy clothing.

We all know terrorists are nothing more than befriended agency patsy's.

WOW...so a lot of people in here seem to think ALL Muslims are radicals that love to blow people up...I thought the point of this site was to DENY IGNORANCE? Whatever happened to that?
This is such an ugly discrimination ...hey IDEA!! - why don't we ban guys with cowboy hats too? I mean cowboyz got gunz that got gunz that got gunz! (You do realize that if these gunz that got gunz go off they could accidentally hit a pilot which would eventually cause the airplane to crash)
Also...THE FACT IS there are MORE than Muslims that blow (innocent) people up, just check out the Collateral Murder video.

Now...can we all stop this bull# and start to agree that those two guys who got removed from the airplane are people like us too?
There are a few radicals within each n every religion, they're the bad guys..not the regular folks who believe in each religion.

Doesn't this type of reaction help create some of the terrorist, because of the prejudice against them?

I agree, the proper response would be, "if you don't feel comfortable you are welcome to reschedule your flight for a later date. Although statistically speaking there will be muslims on every flight, so start walking"

A lot of you just don't get it.

These are not your everyday run of the mill Muslims. They have an agenda, they are either going to or from some radical Muslim lectures. The plan is to act suspicious, rile up the passengers and crew that results in confrontation. Then run to the media, or an ACLU lawyer for a quick settlement, and at the same time extract sympathy from unsuspecting Muslim apologists.

Look if muslims don't like this, the door is open for them to leave.

You sir, are a bigoted racist sack of [selfsnip]

People like you are the reason this country is going to hell, and it's ironic because I bet you figure yourself to be pretty patriotic.

Why would they leave if they were born here?

Why wouldn't "uncomfortable people" get off of the plane instead? That's what liberty is not forcing other people to do what makes you feel right.

Every hear of the 1st amendment? Let me help you

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I can't say that I blame them for being scared with all the reports of retaliation attacks. Look if muslims don't like this, the door is open for them to leave.

Leave? One lives in Memphis.

Here is my problem with the so called Peaceful Islamist----I hardly never hear them speaking out against the radicals.

Dont you think there is a reason the Media, in their anti-muslim hysteria, doesnt go out of there way to give a platform to rational people? You hardly hear them because you ont seek it out. But all you have to do is turn on CNN and see crazy muslims burning a flag.

Unfortunately because of the radicals people are going to have a hard time trusting any of them because right now we are unable to tell if they are radical or not by just looking at them.

Yeah, and because of the actions of crazy white men like Jeffery Dahmer, we cant trust any white men any more.

Maybe perhaps they could change their clothing while flying and wear a cowboy hat. I mean sometimes you have to make sacrifices ,

Ahahahahaha! I see. I spent all this time responding to your post, but really it's just satire. Good one! Ahahahah!

Gosh, I should start a thread just to document all these anonymous anti-muslim accounts who pop up and spout ignorant, bigoted statements like that.

Oh, this thread already is one!

Unless your psychic, so it's obvious that there is going to be fear. You can't blame them. That's what the radicals wanted though...terror. Blame them when you get kicked off a plane for being Muslim, not the people that are just a little scared and rightfully so. I mean the more Muslim garb you wear the more suspicious you will be.

Maybe perhaps they could change their clothing while flying and wear a cowboy hat. I mean sometimes you have to make sacrifices , it's only clothing after all..I seriously doubt Allah really gives a rip about what you are wearing. So it only makes sense that you dress for the occasion and change your clothes while flying. It will make life much easier for you.

This is not the first time this has happened. If these people acted normal, nobody would care. Like I said before these are Muslims going to Muslim seminars. Where do you think they get their ideas? Also notice how quick the media was notified. You won't hear about a lawsuit.....stuff like this gets settled quickly.

Honestly, I'm proud of my country for this. Finally people are showing signs of not being afraid to express their feelings.

Their feelings being directly uploaded to their brains by FOX News.

Btw they can express their feelings all they want, until it interferes with someone elses liberty. That is what happened here, and not only is it immoral, it's unconstitutional.

Your lack of understanding is very disappointing, especially on ATS

Actually, it would make sense for there to be more suspicion on Muslims that try and fit in more on an airplane or something like that, that way they dont draw attention so they can blow something up or whatever their mission is. That doesn't even matter because what happened hear is down right wrong. The people who felt uncomfortable should have left and boarded another plane. I hope that airline is ready for a HUGE lawsuit.

WOW!

i dont even know where i want to start replying to some of the comments in this thread made by a particular female ATSer .. like seriously.. WOW!

so i wont as i could be here all day.. but i will say .. that here in australia there are always islamic spiritual leaders coming out and condemning these acts of terror made by the extremists.

maybe its not done in America as the US Government wants to keep this fear of the Islamic Religion in its people.. which is Very Sad.

based on comments here, it would appear no one noticed this part of the article:

Hooper said officials re-screened them and found they were no threat. While officials tried to get the men back on the plane, "the pilot absolutely refused and ultimately took off," Hooper said.

Fat, middle-class white people scare me. I'm going to demand they all get removed from the plane next time I fly. They all remind me of Ted Kaczinsy.

Considering the climate we live in with possible terrorists blowing up planes, I would think these two Muslim men would have had some kind of consideration for the passengers on the plane and pack their Muslim garb in their suitcases and change into them once they reached their destination.

Just using an example...

If priests were considered terrorists, would they want to be hassled at security because they wanted to wear their traditional black and white collar? Even though they may not be terrorists, considering what people may be thinking, would they enjoy scaring passengers on the plane? I would think a logical person would say to themselves "people are going to think I'm a terrorist," so I better not wear my uniform on the plane.

It's not being a bigot, it's just having consideration and understanding the climate of fear you may be inducing just because of the clothes you are wearing.
