What you describe is a form of land piracy during a SHTF situation. Which will work in a limited fashion, actually. However in a full SHTF situation, there are lots of tech and weapons that will become available as every man for himself becomes the rule.

The old adage of live by the sword and you will die by the sword applies.

But if you want a real world example of what you might encounter in your random strikes: The hosts of the All Things Survival show consist of a combat vet Marine sniper that is currently a LEO that conducts training of various sorts, an Army Ranger combat vet whose MOS dealt with classified, another Army combat vet that was Calvary, a Search and Rescue instructor that happens to be an herbalist, not even sure of the full extent of 12make's background and myself who was just an unarmed security guard with extensive first aid training, certified in various blunt weapons and hand to hand combat and was a master machinist. To be honest, I can fabricate just about anything given the time, tools and materials to do it with.

Not to say we would be some sort of A-Team type of knock off, but would be a fairly realistic real world example...more than that we could start driving and have everyone in a van within 16 hours or just pick a centralized location to meet up in less than 10 hours. Collectively, I would say we have the knowledge to build just about anything (like a working HAM radio from scavenged and modified materials) and be fed and secure while doing it. Without the problems of ego getting in the way of giving and taking orders for meeting goals.

While piracy does work to a degree, it is not a good long term solution. Especially when dealing with random people that could make (with less than 5 lbs of simple hand tools) a ton of primitive firearms and set them up as booby traps. And high end equipment like infrared and night vision is little use against pits with punji sticks.

I would have to use my psychic powers to summon my friends, the aliens whose technology is far superior to yours and would render your weapons and spy gear useless. I would have them abduct you and take you far far away to another galaxy and throw you in the black hole.

Funny how all of you talk trash about PMC's, but do any of you actually personally know someone that works with Xe? These guys aren't stupid, and I would definitely challenge you to say that to their faces. Most of them were special forces, but the pay check just wasn't cutting it. They get better benefits and their insurance actually covers everything, not like all that Tricare BS.

guys, im sorry to break it to you but no training in the world will give you what you're born with. some people were meant to be soldiers and some just aren't. there's more to combat than just physical fitness. i do not know how to explain it but you just gotta have that instinct, kinda like a 6th sense where your movement and actions are fluid.

Because you know who I am and my work experience? You've made a stupid assumption that I have zero military background. Not only do I have friends that are PMC's, I've also worked side by side with them.
