Precisely my point - "Natural Born" is listed in virtually all dictionaries.

"Natural Born Citizen" is not and has never been. Obviously if real-world dictionaries don't have such an entry, why would their online equivalents have them?

What I have a problem with OP is your sensationalist headline - that some mysterious power has SCRUBBED all such entries from online dictionaries. I think we've established you can't scrub entries that WERE NEVER THERE TO BEGIN WITH.

I would agree with the poster above then that this post is at best a HOAX.

About the word Citizen;

Citizen



Definition of CITIZEN
1 : an inhabitant of a city or town; especially : one entitled to the rights and privileges of a freeman
2 a : a member of a state b : a native or naturalized person who owes allegiance to a government and is entitled to protection from it
3 : a civilian as distinguished from a specialized servant of the state


Couple that with natural-born, and it makes no real sense at all. We ALL are naturally born. ( Well, we were until recently... ) The trick is the word citizen as it implies you are not considered native of the land you were born on, and if you were to be indigenous, you can renounce your rights as one to BECOME a citizen. ( Citizenship can be granted by a city, a town, a state. ) "Currently, I'm a citizen of Blahtown, but next year will move to Duhcity and become one of its citizen..."

The "one entitled to the rights and privileges of a freeman" is funny because today, to be a freeman, you have to give up your rights... Because it doesn't say you ARE a freeman, only given "rights and privileges of a freeman"... so it is subject to conditions...

And that means your children are automatically granted the right to be considered a ( natural born ) citizen.

Ditto, It amazes me how people fall for these things every single time... It doesn't matter how much logic, or reason or facts support the truth... they have such an emotional attatchment to the initial feeling they received when they learned of the disinfo , that their ego will protect it to the end. I promise you the originator of this could come out and say "yeah, It was a hoax"... and these people would somehow dismiss it because it doesn't fit into their belief system.... It's sad.

Ok, let me break this down barney style .... 1 + 1 = 2 .... All Day, Every Day... It doesn't matter how much you may think or believe that it equals 3 , It NEVER WILL. FACT is 1+1=2 Now If I ask you how much 1+1 is and you say "In my opinion, It's 3" Your OPINION would be in fact WRONG. So yes, you are perfectly entitled to have the opinion that 1+1=3 but you would be just as wrong as you are in this thread.

Someone clearly doesn't know how a dictionary works. In addition, blindly believing an assertion from someone else that the definitions were there and now they're gone without proof? Clicking a link looking for a phrase that was never in a dictionary and coming up with a "not found" is not proof.

Exactly, I just don't get how someone can be so adamant about something based soley off of emotion that they'll argue against facts. I've said all I can on this. I refuse to devote anymore energy to it.

I have, and its one of these feelings that burns me to the core. I'm nobody. I'm basically a soccer mom, with a slight above average intelligence. I'm going to try and respond in a bit more of a tempered manner than some others, and hopefully this will clear things up for you:


I think the source of all of your confusion is that you believe "natural born citizen" is a term which has been distinctly defined. In fact, it has never been legally defined in a US document, and therefore the term, despite being used in the US constitution, has no legal definition in this country.

It would be like searching for a definition of "pink fuzzy airplane". You and I can picture what a pink fuzzy airplane would look like. Our imaginations might think up something different. I'm picturing an airplane covered in pink felt. You might picture an airplane covered in fluffy pink hair. We would both be correct, because this is a phrase that has no clear definition.

The phrase "natural born citizen" works the same way. Some people say that it means someone has to be born on US soil to two parents who are both US citizens. Some say that it means both of your parents have to be US citizens, but it doesn't matter where you're born. Some say it means you have to be born on US soil, but it doesn't matter what citizenship your parents hold. All of these people would be both right and wrong, because there is no legal definition.

Because of the lack of a formal definition, the phrase "natural born citizen" would not be regularly defined by proper dictionary because that dictionary would have no legal basis for the definition. For the same reason you won't see the phrase "pink fuzzy airplane" in a dictionary. It could be a real thing, but any interpretation of what it actually means is based on the person reading it.


In other words, whether or not this term was ever defined by a dictionary publication such as Oxford or Websters, that definition would hold no legal ground and therefore there is absolutely no motive for anyone to 'scrub' these online dictionaries of their definitions.

I hope this clears things up.

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.


The 14th amendment was written primarily to clarify the citizenship status of freed slaves.

This thread is quite shameful in my opinion.

I understand what you are saying, that the definition for "Natural Born Citizen" was removed from all online dictionaries. That is a very bold statement, which required proof. You have provided absolutely no proof whatsoever.

Without any proof that they DID at ONE TIME have the definition in there, then this thread is completely worthless. Even if Wikipedia claims "They all used to have it in there!" it still doesn't mean anything, and Wikipedia is user edited, so any birther out there could have edited Wikipedia to say that. It doesn't make it true.

How about this, find a real paper and ink dictionary with the WHOLE term "Natural Born Citizen" and I'll take you seriously. I looked in mine, a Websters, and it was NOT in there. I doubt Obama got to my dictionary and tore a page out. Or do you think that's what happened?

Until you get proof, everyone is going to assume you are trolling. Please get some proof or retract your statement.
