This is NOT how it works...

No person has ever been "worthy" and no one ever will be worthy of being saved. The way to be saved is clearly written and told by the saints and disciples. You can choose to believe that Christ is really God's son and died on that cross for anyone who would believe these things..

All it takes is the belief that this is true and accept Christ, as the way to salvation from eternal death.

Not that I believe in the rapture but if it were to happen, the believers bodies would be left behind. Their souls would be taken.

But then again if the ancient god theory is true it could very well be a physical departure rather then sprititual.

exactly the sort of thing i was hoping to find amongst inteligent company.

I would have to consider they were not nuts and i was a nut for not beliving. But it does not stop the possibility of explaining events with scientific fact. No one knows how they left, maybe a certian brain frequency of faith is detected, located and transported with 'alien technology' we simply dont understand rather than an actual mystierous magic from another plane of existance.

I'm kinda torn, I don't think the rapture, if it is real, is some magical thing where everybody disappears...

It could be a massive loss of life, occuring at the same time (EQ, nukes, etc...)

Some people have offered Bible verses, but I don't believe the event is covered anywhere in the Bible.

There is not going to be a Rapture on May 21st. People have always chosen dates for the Rapture.

Actually I looked into the 144,000 reference, and it apparently refers to people who will be protected from the catastrophes and disasters that occur during the Apocalypse. Not the Rapture.

"Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the servants of God on their foreheads".

This means the Apocalyptic destruction would not begin until the 144,000 "servants of God" have been sealed to protect their life. This means that the 144,000 are NOT raptured, but live on Earth through the whole period of the "tribulation".

I'm an atheist, though. But that's what I think the 144,000 means.

I agree, that is the way I understand it, too, that those being raptured and those numbering 144 000 are two different groups. However, they do have in common that they will both be "kept in Heaven", while the catastrophies rumbles the Earth, and, to my understanding, the 144 000 are also the ones that will repopulate "the new Heaven and the new Earth", after the catastrophies have seased.

The difference are that those being raptured are a mix of people in an unspecific number consisting of both living "true believers" and people already being deceased, while the 144 000 are those having "The seal of God" as a sort of "identification-mark", whom will be collected "from all points of the Earth" and later on will do the repopulating, I guess you could say.

like that would do you any good, the door is locked and no way in, by the time you did get the door open you would be seeing the ground, so do not fly one the 21 st nor drive on the road nothing like a out of control tanker truck full of gas or chem. wait till the 22nd then fly or drive

Well, I'd have my pick of abandoned cars. There would be plenty of houses for the homeless. Descriptions of the "rapture" sound like my idea of Hell, so I hope they enjoy the trip!
