Certainly. There may have been alien contact in the past, there may be alien contact now; a skeptic would not say it is impossible, but rather the evidence to support it is lacking.

I think that Dastardly would find the skeptic is far softer and more reason than the scapegoat caricature he has developed in his mind. However, he seems to have gotten himself wrapped up in the false dichotomy of skeptic vs. believer

Your statement is a bit of a contradiction because the OP, who was a skeptic, was open to change and became a believer. But you suggested his/her thread be placed in the 'comedy' section.

It's not an evidence and facts thread, it's an opinion thread which is perfectly fine to post on this forum. I have zero problems with anyone asking for evidence and facts in a sighting/report/video etc...thread. The evidence here is in his statement, the fact is he was a former skeptic and is now a believer. Calm down.

The OP claimed to be a sceptic. The same way that anyone can claim to have killed JFK. A claim of something does not make it factual. I stated that via their own presenting of what they considered to be a turning point that the OP was not a sceptic but rather someone who didn't know whether to accept UFO and Alien evidence as factual or not. In short someone who doesn't understand what scepticism is.

Scepticism is a completely different ballgame than just believe or not. You are a sceptic - don't believe me? Give all your money to a rich drug dealer and the aliens will make contact with you for your open mindedness*

Yes I did and I still do. I've even whittled off a report of this thread which, as always when it falls with a certain bias in this subsection, has amounted to nothing. This thread is a coming out party. It's tilted to make it seem that scepticism is something which can be renounced and is unbecoming. Scepticism doesn't just disappear, it's an outlook which stays with you for life once you've discovered how easy, useful and absolutely brilliant it is.

Fact of the matter is we are all sceptical, to some degree, at our core. We just choose to play silly distracting games to pretend we're not. One of those games is UFOs and Aliens - I do not believe that people aren't sceptical (to a tiny degree at least) of claims of ET, UFOs or anything extraterrestrial, I think it's just more fun to be in the cool UFO gang rather than deal with reality.

What you are describing is the difference between skepticism and Skepticism; while both are tool we use to survive, the forum is simply that, while the latter is a philosophy built upon that tool, used to understand the world we live in. We all employ skepticism on a day-to-day basis but we are not all Skeptics.

I am sceptical of some UFO videos and I will give my opinion on videos without having to ridicule the person who posted it.

If you tell me why you are sceptical about a UFO video, I will listen and evaluate, unlike most skeptics.
