Old UFO Photos 1870-1939.

This very early sighting has some information to go with the photo.

Zacatecas Observatory - Mexico
08:00 hrs (local), 12 August 1883

Zacatecas Observatory's boss, leading astronomer Jose Bonilla and an assistant were preparing to study the Sun's corona when he saw distant objects crossing his field of view.

During the next 36 hours the two worked continuously (through daylight hours when Sun was visible) to record the transits of those "disks" across the solar face, using the Observatory's new camera equipment.

INDEPENDENT-INTERNATIONAL PICTURES WINS OLDEST KNOWN UFO PHOTO

At the end of the E-bay online auction of March 4, 2002, Independent-International Pictures Corp. president Samuel M. Sherman announced that his company had won at auction the oldest known UFO photograph. After several days of feverish bidding, Sherman won the photo for his company in the last 50 seconds of the auction with a final high bid of $385. The photograph is a winter 1870 stereo (3-D) view of clouds over Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Plainly and sharply visible in the photo is a long cigar-like object. Since this is before known manned flight (with the exception of balloons - which this is not) the object will have to be ruled as a solid Unidentified Flying Object. Structure to this solid object is clearly and sharply seen in some detail as is the reflection of the sun off the object. The stereo view presents two images (for right and left eye) which will be helpful in further analysis of it. Sherman reported that due t! o the sharpness of the image it will lend itself to further copying and enlargement for study. Sherman also stated that this photograph will not be locked up in some collection, but will be submitted to scientists for detailed analysis and the results made available to the public, which he says wants answers to the UFO mystery.

I'm pretty sure that the 6th photo in the original post, (Summer, 1932 - St. Paris, Ohio, USA) is a picture of the USS Akron.

In June of 1932 the Akron flew from Sunnyvale, CA to Lakehurst, NJ.

I know this photo does not fit the proper criteria of the thread title but it fits in the correct time frame and has sufficient enough information with it to warrant posting.
The case does look dubious but i have never seen it before and i think it has some merit as someone has taken the time to do some analysis.

Summary: The picture was taken in the early 1930s by the sender's grandfather, who lived in Alaska. The entitiy was first seen when the grandfather was on his way to a lake. He chased the entity until he got close enough to take this one picture. It was some four months before the photograph was developed, being in in a remote, sparsely populated area. The sender received the picture from his grandfather only last week. His grandfather died the day after giving him the photo, and relating his story.

Excellent post. Actually, UFOs sightings are much, much older than photos from the late 19th century, but very, very nice collection. S&F.

There are examples of UFOs in cave paintings THOUSANDS of years old, and in many paintings depicting medieval scenes.

This is a photo of a bird if I've ever seen one, it was close to the camera.

nice pictures...even though some of them look face...the mt washington one looks like a pocket knife

I've seen this exact UFO in a different image. I'm sure others have, it's a classic. The one I'm familiar with (and probably most others of it) it looked to be like it was taken in the skies of clear Mid West USA, maybe a roof edge and some old telephone poles.

That ring a bell with anyone else...I hope?

Looks like they cut it out and pasted it into this newer/different picture.

I'll try to dig around for what I think is the original. I could be wrong.
