All animals go extinct, except....

the five that you get to choose. I you had to choose which 5 species would you save from extinction?

Can't chose: life is life, any way your want to look at it. The truth is we know nothing about our own environment and its species in order to make such a life and death decision.

Chose 5 species, those same species would then die after a few days since it takes more than 5 species to keep life going.

Well... say you COULD choose five, and it did work out...

A primitive bird, a primitive mamal, a primitive reptile, a primitive fish and a primitive insect.


It'll make re-evolution a lil bit fast I guess, by taking 1 from all 5 current base species, preferably primitive and unspecialized.

Sticking to actual animals (ie not plants or micro-organisms that aren't animals), I'd have to say as much livestock species as possible. And, of course, I am assuming one doesn't have to choose human beings as one of those species. Maybe one could save minks too...to make coats with of course! Because that'd be -real- vital, having luxury coats and such....

I would have to make on of mine cows.

Milk, cheese, beef, beef!!!

The dog, the cat, almost any kind of edible fish, the cow, and the crocodile. As for humanity well what have they contributed to the enviroment. I choose the dog and cat for companionship, hunting, and security. They say many aliens seem to be afraid of cats. The fish because we need something that can swim, that and you can eat it. The cow because of the large amount of food you can get from one cow. And the crocodile because a reptile would be a good idea for evolution reasons. That and crocodile skin can be very useful.

If you could only choose 5 then they are all screwed! Just think about how the ecosystem interacts with all things in the food chain. Even if one of the five was able to survive throught the others, there would eventually be an over population of the animal because of lack of preditors and disease would run rampant within the species. Plagues are natures little way to keep control.
