Well, if you think about it, tagging along with a comet is probably the most efficent way to travel in space, as long as you have enough galactic beef jerky and Big Gulp Soda to last the road trip.

Smart et's are smart. That's pretty funny and true at the same time.
very interesting post, guess we will see what happens in the next few months.
At the time of the discovery, the comet was about 647 million kilometers (401 million miles) from Earth. Over the past four-and-a-half months, the comet has – as comets do – closed the distance to Earth's vicinity as it makes its way closer to perihelion (its closest point to the sun). As of May 4, Elenin's distance is about 274 million kilometers (170 million miles).

i don´t mean they are using it as a weapon
what i guess is if it´s their home traveling behind the planet
never stated that they used it like a weapon
they said it was emitting signals, and that may be a cluster or a UFO
what if it´s both?

Hitching a comet could easily be a very real method of travel for extraterrestrial species.
Perhaps they were running low on their fuel, perhaps they are experiencing some kind of mechanical failure.
An object such as this travels at quite a fast pace, and it would make a lot of sense for something to latch onto it's free energy.
Quite a few of you seem to be set on the fact that an alien species would have some super tech rendering this method of travel useless.
Let's just address some assumptions and points I'd like to make
A)Who says there isn't multiple species with varying tech.
B)Who says their method of transport is fool proof and never has any failure.
C)Perhaps it's a mining vessel.edit on 5-5-2011 by Tephra because: (no reason given)

So what's the big deal? This must be a cluster of smaller rocks/debris which had broken off from the comet and following it which is nothing out of the ordinary. The only sensationalist statement made by that scientist was that perhaps it could be a UFO! Now that means he could be reading a lot of science fiction of late or perhaps a member of MUFON or some other crappy UFO organization to have influenced him to arrive at such a bizarre conclusion!!!
There's NOTHING mentioned in the Chinese National Space Administration web site. I couldn't find hair nor hide of this anywhere. Anyway, carry on......edit on 5-5-2011 by OrionHunterX because: (no reason given)
