Gates, Clinton Advising President to Not Release OBL Photograph; Obama Increasingly Concerned No Good Would Come from It

Well ... I didn't think I would add to all the hoopla that is the death of OBL but here I go...

President Obama is increasingly doubtful that there's a compelling reason to release a photograph of Osama bin Laden's corpse, ABC News has learned.

There don't seem to be many skeptics of bin Laden's death in the Muslim world, with bin Laden's wife having survived the attack to identify bin Laden's death both to the Navy SEALs and Pakistani authorities.

Meanwhile, sources say, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advising the president about concerns at the Pentagon and State Department that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the US for killing bin Laden where one does not seem to currently exist.

The internal debate at the White House is then informed by this question: why are we releasing this photograph if no one seems to really doubt his death and releasing it could cause more harm than good?

US official: "The only skeptics are extremists and they wouldn't be convinced by a photograph anyway. So the president has to weigh the potential negatives and they're huge, there's a tremendous risk of the photo becoming a rallying cry for attacks against US soldiers, government personnel, and Americans in general."

Source

Well here's some partial truth as I would not be totally convinced by the photographs of OBL's death. However what I am concerned about is that they are using the excuse that no one would believe it anyway! I mean come on! At least release SOMETHING! It's as if they WANT the conspiracy theorists to come out and form their theories!

This in itself is totally strange. Is this the final step in completing the NWO? Where we have no evidence what-so-ever to look at and therefore everything is left up to opinion to make up facts?

Perhaps this is THE biggest conspiracy of all!

Peace & respect,

And the theatrics continues. There's no photos, only bad photo-shops.

And with the job they did with the birth certificate, they don't want releasing crappy doctored pics because it will blow up in their face, just like the BC.

Meanwhile, sources say, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advising the president about concerns at the Pentagon and State Department that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the US for killing bin Laden where one does not seem to currently exist.

And why would it prompt anything more? Ridiculous.

US official: "The only skeptics are extremists and they wouldn't be convinced by a photograph anyway.

So basically.. the psy ops has won and the sheeple bought it... now let's go to the next phase of the plan...

Gates and Clinton are not dumb after all.

I thought Osama's wife died in the raid also, very strange. I wonder who else died in the raid? I'm sure Osama wasn't alone there with his wife.

I figure its a pretty gruesome photo after being shot twice in the head, brain matter and everything else. I think it should be released carefully, dont just blast it onto the internet where kids can see it.

Wouldn't it be in your best interest, as the wife of a man who is wanted by the largest militaries in the world, to say he's dead? Wouldn't it make sense for her to say "Yep, that's him!"

Kinda stupid if you ask me.

You know what else kids can see on the net? Porn. Murder. Suicides. Two Girls One Cup. Justin Bieber videos.

The internet is full of horrors if you look deep enough. It's a ridiculous reason to not release it because ``kids could see it``... especially in America where violent and gory movies and tv shows are the norm.

He may be unrecognisable anyway. They might as well let a dog have a go at a few steaks, sellotape them together and stick a fake nose and beard on with elastic bands. Debunk that!

Occurs the conspiracies theorist will debunk a picture, only if is manipulated or manufactured.

Also if it was true that they have pictures of his death body and they are real no debunking will take away the fact.

Also this is nothing but another promise by the present administration to be broken, remember the Osama Transparency, I guess transparency under Obama is in the eye of the beholder.

Darn don't you get it, the government said they killed Obama now be good patriots and wave the American flag and celebrate in the streets, fill you gas tanks with 10 dollar gas and be sure to duck when the next reg flag assault against the American people comes.

Then go spend and spend some more like Bush told America to do after 9/11 because we got a nation to fix economically

Yea lets just forget that it is completely disrespectful to parade a dead corpse as a trophy.

I remember Somalia, where they were considered "animals" for parading those US troops dead around tied to bumbers and cheering, and I also remember something in afghanistan or iraq where they burned the corpses and hanged them on a bridge and took pictures with them still in a smoking blown up tank and everyone called them animals.

Now everyone wants to see a gory picture of a dead human, cause lets face it, this is not about "proof", this is about the human nature of wanting to see blood and gore, specially when its someone that everyone knows. From Osama to JFK, through Marilyn Monroe or Kurt Cobain, its all about the red, since the beginning of time, going through the roman games until this very day we still slow our cars in the driveway when theres an accident just hoping to see a human being reduced to its lesser state.

So stop the excuses about proof or "this didnt happen unless I see it". Listen, the US produce the best of the best special effects, be it CGI or makeup, you really think they couldnt come up with a real and BELIEVABLE photo of incredible gore of Osama if they really wanted to? Come on...

I dont think the photos should be released for multiple reasons, the most important of all being that regardless of who he is or what hes done, its still a human being like the rest of us, and has the right to dignity and respect in death and noone can violate the privacy of the most vulnerable and defenseless form.

If Osama really was who they say it was, and if he did what they say he did, and if he really went all all these years looked upon as the very face of the Enemy, the least you can do is respect that enemy for what he was and what he stood up for and lead him to his death, for most of us never get to die for a good cause let alone for our beliefs.

Like a "modern" Salahadin he deserves respect in death.

Admit your blood lust (nothing wrong in being human) and the truth shall set you free.

I don't think this is the time to play semantics. You honestly don't want to see the video of this op?? If this came out it would be a make or break deal!

If you're worried about kids seeing proof of the most 'WANTED man in the world'/s death then don't allow children to watch the news!

I've seen VERY graphic news stories that would make ANY video of OBL's death seem tame.

Well, some suspect this entire story was a fabrication to distract the public away from the birth certificate. Since the government refuses to provide any substantial confirmation of OBL's death and are doing nothing but dangling carrots in front of our faces to keep us talking about it, I say we ignore the whole thing and go back to the 'birther' thing just to be irritating.

Start flooding websites, news forums, you tube, and other forms of media with birther conspiracies.

I'm not a birther or anything but I do like being an irritant. If this whole OBL saga was just an attempt to deflect, we should ignore it until they come up with the goods and go back to exposing birth certificate forgeries just to be P.I.T.A.'s.

Halfway joking here.

And to be more pertinent to the article:

The only skeptics are extremists

Absolutely wrong. In this case, your average Joe from Main Street, Smalltown USA even finds this whole thing bizarre. Nice try to make everyone asking for evidence to be extremists.

there's a tremendous risk of the photo becoming a rallying cry for attacks against US soldiers, government personnel, and Americans in general.

Right. So killing their leader is just cool beans but showing confirmation would open a can of worms.

This whole thing reminds me of playground antics when I was a kid. 'I have a secret but I can't tell you! I have something really cool in my pocket but I can't show you!'

Of course, the brat child never had anything to begin with.

I don't know how far your memory goes, but our so sensitive toward the Islamic community governemnt were not so thoughtful and sensitive when they showed the pictures of Saddam's sons death and broadcasted Saddam's execution for the enjoyment of the US America (gore seekers).

I think is something here called double standards if I am no mistaken and if is not double standards then they are hiding something.

You know I am not rocket scientist but I can still see and smell deceptions.

I guess (Saddam and his sons) were not human after all.

To add more to the conspiracy I think that Bin laden body was nothing but a death body been kept to convert him later into a shrine and that is why US went and retrieve the body but when one of the helicopters malfunction it turn into a full rescue mission and they confronted resistance.

I will stick with that.

For me, the 2 tie in together. The reason I want to see confirmation so bad is because the ocean dump story was the obscene twist that caused the entire story to make no sense to me. I was willing to keep an open mind concerning the government account until then.

Osama in a compound yards away from a military facility? Crazy but others have hidden in plain sight so OK. I will go along with this. Rapid DNA testing? I'm sure something like that could be done fairly quickly in emergency situations so OK. I will go along with this. Conflicting accounts of events? I'm sure when you have many 'officials' chiming in everywhere, details can get confused. OK. I will go along with this.

Wait. WHAT? You dumped the body into the ocean?!?

That was the straw that broke the camels back in terms of suspension of belief for me and why so many so badly want to see some evidence beyond their words.

I think everything about this whole thing is pertinent and I doubt that (at least within conspiracy circles) any of this will be forgotten

This is, without a doubt, history in the making. Where this history leads I honestly have no idea.

I swear i JUST heard Panetta say on a radio clip that he was certain at least one photo would be released. Guess they're either disagreeing or not talking to each other. Or maybe it was an old clip. Or maybe they're still in that "fog of war" that they claim is muddling all the facts so much.
