The body of a man with his hands and feet nailed to a wooden cross and a crown of thorns on his head has been found in an abandoned stone quarry, South Korean police said Wednesday.

A man wearing only underwear, with a wound on the side of his torso and nylon strings tied around his neck, arms and stomach, was found crucified Sunday in Mungyong, 190 kilometres southeast of Seoul, said Chung Ji-chun, chief of the violent crime section at Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency.

Two smaller crosses were erected on each side of the cross he was nailed to, Chung said.

Holy moly!
It seems like it may have been a suicide..
In the mean time, why has this happend in South Korea?
Were the two smaller crosses for smaller people to be crucified?
Instructions? Is there going to be people recruited to make crosses and go around crucifying people??

This is strange...
From Korean herald

An autopsy showed that Kim used an electric drill to make holes in his palms, according to police.

Police noted that the death occurred around Easter and are investigating whether he killed himself and if anyone assisted him in the process.

Wow, that is indeed strange.

Even more odd to me is that it happened in South Korea. I'm not sure what the "symbolic" nature of this may be... perhaps there is significance with the date?

That's nuts. A lot of work went into that considering they bothered to the dress the scene with two ornamental crosses.

Some crazy cult? Maybe it was an Easter reenactment and they forgot him up there ala South Park?

Sounds more to me like he was killed for being a Christian. Not sure how one would tie or nail themselves to a vertical cross.

This is dark...

Hope they get to the bottom of it. Either way a murder like this took some planning .

My first 2 thoughts exactly! Punishment for being christian.

Kinda reminds me of bender in futurama, when both his arms fall off - it cuts to him screwing his arm in, and fry says "How did you even do that?"..

How would someone commit suicide by nailing themselves to a cross?

Assisted suicide maybe... You give someone enough money and they might help you nail yourself to a cross.

The two smaller crosses sound like they are symbolic of the sinners who conversed with Christ on the cross. Makes me think it probably wasn't religious persecution due to that detail.

And odd situation indeed

It sounds like a ritual mafia/occult like murder. Suicide? Not!

More like murder... No way in hell it was suicide.
Most likely the work of "good christians" from the look of it...

There are plenty of Penitente cults that practice ritual crusifixation. Some may have carried it to the logical extreme.

Who want's a nice hot cup of Google.

Easter re-enactment gone wrong, maybe. So everyone took off, and left the body behind, and didn't report it. That's my guess.
