Greetings to everybody on ATS

I have actually posted a couple of replies before making my introduction, I apologise - I didn't mean to be rude but for whatever reason I hadn't realised that it was etiquette on here to make an introduction before diving in. So here I am. Hello!

It makes me cringe to say it, but I have become a conspiracy theorist over the past 3 years or so. This doesn't mean that I think everything is a conspiracy, only that I have finally accepted that not all human beings are as innocent as I used to think they were, and that the hunger for power can drive (some) people to do unthinkable things. I aim to be as open-minded as possible.

I would be a hypocrite if I forgot that during all of my adult life previous to these 3 years I was a complete skeptic, and even quietly ridiculed the tinfoil-hat wearing loons (as I saw them at the time)! I had seen Loose Change a couple of years before and was entirely unconvinced, then I met an ardent believer who felt the need to try to force me to believe in the 9/11 cover-up and wanted to imply that I was 'unable to think properly' (I believe he used those words) if I didn't agree. I believe it was partly my reaction to his extreme pushiness that stopped me from seeing what I now believe to be the truth for another couple of years. There's a lesson for us all there

Anyway I'm glad to have found ATS, so thanks. I've been reading for a few months but only joined a week or so ago. Whether I agree or disagree with your point of view, I want to say thanks in advance for future discussions.

Hello. Welcome to ATS. You make a very good point that opening your mind to the uncomfortable truths can only come from yourself, there is no use being forced into believing something because you can never truly be sure that’s how you feel.

But I'm sure your friend was only trying to do a good thing
