So the question is, will ATS make an exception when it is released? There are reports that the White House has decided to release at least one picture. But according to ATS T&C you CANNOT post the photo or LINKS to any gory photos.

And yet, people are going to do it anyway, of that we can be sure!

Heck even I posted one in another thread, and then thought about it. I forget too. This is supposed to be a family oriented site.

I'm sure you're right. It will be posted anyway and make extra work for the mods.

As for an exception? Not really necessary, is it? It'll be everywhere.

I have to also say here that seeing that fake one over and over and over the other night and day was seriously disturbing me too. But I think that was a more nefarious thing that was happening there.

They have been posting them fakes, what excitment is found 1 has no clue. I mean what do people wanna see blood-partial organ tissue entrance/exit holes. It makes no sense especially if he really could of pulled a fast one on them all. People needs to find better ways to entertain their mentals.

Remember, you have an option to click the link or not, images should not be embedded in threads but a link with a warning of graphic image,m in my oppinion is fine, if you go ahead and click the link then thats your own fault for ignoring the warning.

while I see the point in the family oriented
content. One has to be aware that doing any
proper investigative work concerning the deceased
cannot be accomplished without getting
one's hand dirty (so to speak).
So by banning the released photo,
it would in essence be stifling a
proper investigation.

However, even I would be against
embedding such an image.
But a warning with a link should
be sufficient I think.

there is a difference between
a link to an image

and embedding the image so it
displays

herein lies another dilemma,

how can you prove it to be a fake
if not allowed to post the results
of the findings.

I made a thread with the first fake. Made a warning and attached link.

My thread was trashed. Don't care about my thread being trashed. It was a fake pic anyway.

Except the reason given was that it violated T&C

Given the highly exceptional circumstances I think it's only sensible that the mods allow such threads to slide, at least for a few hours until such pictures etc are either confirmed as genuine or as a hoax.

lol

therein lies another dilemma.

If ATS proves it a fake and the MSM
catches wind and comes here to look
and the results are then gone, then what
good is the content of the investigation?

I was implying that, if a link to a photo is posted and it is then confirmed as genuine then such a thread should be allowed to stay. Threads purporting to show the death photo of Bin Laden that link to graphic content should be removed as soon as they can be deemed a hoax.

Link to that too.

You don't have to post it to either investigate or publish your findings..

Why are you posting a video in a thread on board discussions?

And not that's not the real deal. It was uploaded someone in another thread said in like 2007 and the dude is clearly still alive.

Regardless of whether you can avoid a link, the T&C clearly says no links.

But that's no real surprise. It's very clear the rules here are more like guidelines when it comes to enforcement. The rules are there to project an image to the outside world, that's all -- the reality is very different.

They won't change the wording because its purpose is not to be enforced, but to create an officially sanitary image for the outside world. That is the only conclusion I can reach about the strange gaps between policy and reality here.

We have rapidly debunked 3 fakes already. I think if anything we are adding to the credibility of ATS. I have always thought that the image restriction for "gore" was silly. I can understand nudity, this isnt a porn site, but this is a conspiracy site, and there are many conspiracies that involve war and murder.

You can take family friendly too far. Parents need to take some responsibility for their own spawn, and adults should be able to read that the thread is about "death photos" and choose for themselves if they want to proceed.

How dumb do you need to be to enter a thread about death photos if you are traumatized by gore?

Yeah, I am sure the photos and video will be posted.... But they have not been released yet... The ones floating around the internet are fakes.

The only thing released by the government is a few pictures of the Mansion, and a couple of the inside, nothing exciting short of some blood stains....

So, one the real photos and video are released,I am sure you are right that some will come here and post them.

Were you not here Sunday night and Monday morning when there was a concerted effort to post that already debunked fake in just about every topic out there on OBL? I must have seen it 200 different times (maybe a slight exaggeration), and it was almost always posted off topic with no comment. That got out of control rather fast, and no, I wasn't enter a thread expecting to see or discuss a gory photo. As if you can control where people are going to post it. .

The "real" photo...

Has yet to be released so we don't know how "gruesome" it really is... I would say that it is most likely going to be okay as a link with a graphic image warning, but not for image insertion in threads... That will give members and visitors alike the choice on viewing it or not.

This by no means is the official policy, and is contingent upon factors yet to be determined (like the photo itself), but represents a conservative approach.

The Three Amigos will have the final say when the time comes.
