As I predicted on this thread, there will be no picture..

www.cbsnews.com...

Obama stated today that no pictures will be released and gave some pretty compelling reasons for it.. While the reasons given are top notch and very reasonable, it isn't the real reason.. The real reason is that there is no way to photograph a person that has been dead for over 10 years and make it look remotely real.

That is all.. and there will be no proof that this event has ever happened.. So, do you believe?

Are they trying to confuse the masses with this garbage excuse.
Why would al qaeda be pissed that the showed us OBL picture? Is he their God now? Has he reached Muhammed status? Supposedly they were going to retaliate based on the sheer fact he was killed right? Are they gonna extra retaliate if he's shown to be dead?

So, let me get this straight.. god its been so crazy with this story, i need to rewind and replay the facts..

- it is OK to kill an unarmed man in cold blood in his home
- it is OK to take pictures of his dead body
- it is OK to dump said man in the ocean

but... it is NOT ok to show the pictures of him for fear of making people angry.

ok, yeah, makes sense...

this thread officially got me!
i was really hoping for pictures and thought your predictions would be wrong
i thought we would at least get some well photoshopped pictures but i guess the government is not dumb enough for that anymore, at least they are smart enough now to make an excuse not to show the pictures

something is up! good job on this one

The reason for this is that Bin Laden has been dead since 2001 when he was killed in Tora Bora..

No one is going to take your word as fact unfortunately. If you want us to believe this, you should at least try to back it up first.

What if he just claims to know that is true because he wrapped him up according to Muslim burial practices and dumped the body at sea in 2001? Would you believe it then?

Only if he dresses up for the part in the appropriate clothing with a few stripes and medals and the story get's shown on the Orwellian idot box some 15,000 times. Then, of course.

Well, I didnt link to an article that said they did use facial recognition technology, because I assumed, (and yes, I know that one should not assume) that anyone popping off an opinion in here was at least watching the news. And it has been reported ad nauseum in the news that they used facial recognition devices to initially identify him.

I liked the article that had more technical detail better, but since you apparently arent watching the news, here you go.
news.yahoo.com...

Reuters

– Mon May 2, 2:20 am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States is conducting DNA testing on slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and used facial recognition techniques to help identify him, a U.S. official said on Monday.

www.bostonherald.com...=home&position=5

Authorities also checked bin Laden’s identity using face-recognition technology similar to what Littleton-based tech firm Viisage pioneered.

edit on 3-5-2011 by Illusionsaregrander because: (no reason given)

Ummmm... maybe it's just me but wouldn't someone want to positively identify a person they thought might be Bin Laden BEFORE they 'alllegedly' went and assassinated him???

They are purportedly using all of these things to ' help identify him' AFTER the fact??? (assuming there's any truth to these stories anyway), seems there must be one heck of a lot of doubt.

I think some fraudulant pics may possibly still still come out (perhaps after they play the holdout game?) but let's also think about this for a second.

Because of Bin Laden's hyped up status wouldn't it be resaonable to assume that EVERY bit of this encounter (if it was real) would have been documented in every conceivable way and every attempt would have been made to show the world UNDENIABLE PROOF of exactly what happened and to who.

Instead it appears to me this whole thing is VERY very shady, not real, and everything was done to just make the claim and then shove it under the rug (or in the ocean depths) as quickly possible.

Is anyone really supposed to believe this story, do they now feel that so many American's are really that naive and gullible??? (ok don't answer that part)
