Not sure if this is the official one but this looks like something they'd try to pass off as real.

Notice the blurred date at the bottom so we can't see what day it actually happened, even if it is fake this would contradict the official story of May 1.

Also note how it is in night vision, to hide the gore maybe? But it isn't even much gore, they said it would be very hard to see. Or is this just because it looks more "authentic" as a night operation to take it in night vision?

Better read your links more carefully. It is speculating that they MAY HAVE USED advanced facial recognicio.

No source given for the pic, I wonder how the ats poster got it. He did not respond to where he got it.

Well, I didnt link to an article that said they did use facial recognition technology, because I assumed, (and yes, I know that one should not assume) that anyone popping off an opinion in here was at least watching the news. And it has been reported ad nauseum in the news that they used facial recognition devices to initially identify him.

I liked the article that had more technical detail better, but since you apparently arent watching the news, here you go.
news.yahoo.com...

Reuters

– Mon May 2, 2:20 am ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States is conducting DNA testing on slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and used facial recognition techniques to help identify him, a U.S. official said on Monday.

Authorities also checked bin Laden’s identity using face-recognition technology similar to what Littleton-based tech firm Viisage pioneered.

Its interesting. I wish we had some way to date it. The date being blurred is an intriguing feature of the picture.

They are claiming it was night time when they killed him, according to this,

news.yahoo.com...

Bin Laden was killed in a dramatic night-time raid by U.S. helicopters and troops on his hideout in Abbottabad, home to Pakistan's main military academy and less then two hours' drive from the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

But that alone doesnt mean a whole lot. It just makes it consistent with the picture. I will be curious if it gets debunked or upheld as genuine.

WHITE HOUSE TO RELEASE BIN LADEN DEATH PHOTO
Tue May 03 2011 10:22:50 ET

President Obama decided Tuesday morning to release at least one photo showing Osama Bin Laden's death, a top source claims.

The images, being described as 'graphic', are bound to stir emotions in the east and the west, and will likely become the most viewed photographs in modern history.

What I have yet to understand is; Ok you say you will release the photo, WELL RELEASE IT!

Oh wait, they aren't done making it yet..

They honestly think we are stupid..

They have to get it just right, they know its going to be gone over with a fine tooth comb and if there is anything at all in the photo that isnt right, they know they will get flat busted, and their credibility will be utterly destroyed.

The other pic that was released (but not, apparently, officially) was a bad fake and got taken down in a heartbeat. Im technologically inept and even to my eye the photo looked photoshopped. Anything they release is going to be subject to scrutiny by the very best experts in the world, and it has to be perfect.

One question I have about the pic you posted is, is he laying on dirt?

I cant really tell, and I have no idea how to enlarge it or make it more clear, but I wish we could get a better look at the background.

It doesnt really look like he is inside a house, although that is not conclusive proof of anything. They might have dragged him outside and took the pic before loading him into the helicopter. (Here I am going along with the governments claim for speculation purposes, but not endorsing it)

Haha agreed.

Yeah that photo was debunked almost imediately.

I think with that they realized how serious the people are about wanting REAL evidence.

that's definitely the same soldier, but who is the fallen soldier? Did an American die while they hunted for Bin Laden? That certainly wasn't in the news.

Good ploy in the OP, though. "They won't release a picture and even if they do, it's fake". Sort of a no-win for the administration, isn't it?

What I want to know is why there is so much confusion about what happened when supposedly a whole roomful of people including Hillary and Obama are sitting there watching it on a live feed.

Ya know, this whole thing stinks to the high. As much as the Government lies to its people I find it very suspicious that they would be so negligent. Think about it, with all they have said in the last 2 days they have created many more questions than answers. They could have said "We found his body while looking for mines, DNA confirms" and that would be that. The conspiracy researchers would have nothing to say it would be done and over with but instead they released information that has more holes in it than the Roswell crash. They made themselves look stupid and continue to do so by changing the reports as well as all the different conflicting reports, and now even the general public is beginning to question. I refuse to believe these people are actually that stupid and if this is the case there is a lot more to it than they are saying. They would not just bury him at sea without some type of evidence and they wouldn't wait even 24 hours to release it knowing it would cause questions and dis-belief if it were released later. With the media releasing so many obviously fake pics causes the Governments credibility to be shot even more, yet they are doing it and the US Government doesn't seem to want to stop them from doing it. Which is the bigger lire? The Government or the media?
