5/02/2011 At around 7 am PST my clock began to move backwards... and still is.

I kind of made it a point when I joined that I wasn`t going to make any threads of my own. Although I do sometimes have some interesting ideas, I`m not an expert at anything and I spend a lot of time reading and posting on other member`s threads, so that`s another reason. It`s not that I`m selfish, I just haven`t had anything crucial to bring to your attention...

...that is, until today. I woke up at about 7 and went for a walk like usual, and came back and watched tv for an hour seeing if any new developments were made with the whole osama thing. And then I noticed, the time on the clock (analog) on my wall was wrong... "Damn" I thought "The batteries must`ve died" But then I noticed... the second hand was STILL MOVING... BACKWARDS!

Yeah, so I was kinda like "Whatever, it must be acting weird cause the battery died" and I looked at it about 10 minutes later, and The Minute hand had ALSO moved backward... It`s now 3:42 am and it`s STILL doing it. Although I`ve calculated that it isn`t moving as fast backwards as it did forward. Leading me to believe maybe the battery is dying slowly. The time on it now is 11:44 and working backwards it would be 11:44pm. The second hand is noticeably slower now than when I first noticed the "phenomenon"... I wonder what time it will stop at? The imaginative side of me wonders if this is some kind of a countdown. Anyway, it`s the first time I`ve ever seen a clock run backward, so I thought I would share and see if anyone else is having this happen or if cheap clocks are known to do this.

I don`t have a youtube account and I`m posting from my phone... *SNIP*. But I must prewarn you, the clock has spaces for photos to be inserted. I kinda put topless women in all the spaces as a joke, and it just kinda stuck... It`s artistic, in it`s own way... Maybe tomorrow I can figure out how to get the video onto a computer and upload it to ats media. I`ll shoot a video now and try to keep the nudity out of frame.

Oh and I`ve had the clock about 2 years and changed batteries about twice before and never had this happen. Usually when the battery dies it just slows down and stops within about a half hour. fyi.

All hell is breaking loose!
Maybe your clock was affected by this

Very interesting. Would love to see a vid of it happening!

I have had a similar event happen to me, but it was quite some time ago now. It was not just one clock doing it, however, it was all the clocks in the room I was in. Very bizarre and rather scared the McMuffin out of me lol

Could there be anything magnetic near it that might explain it - strange indeed.

it's that you've been conditioned by fear for so long thru bush's and cheney's policies, that now that your greatest danger is gone your brain is out of whack.

If it Stops at 11:11 then You must let me know!!

Very weird

Wow! You are going backwards in time. When you get to December 8th, 1980
if you could somehow give John Lennon a call and warn him. Same for November
21st, 1963. JFK needs a call too.

uh.. What kind of clock do you have? And could you make a video of this clock going backwards. ? If it has second hand it shouldnt take long.. If digital, at most 1 minute of video.. So please.. Everyone has a camera and majority of cameras record video... Please?

Perhaps someone is playing a prank on you? Try reversing the polarity (connection) on the battery and see the effect.

I am pretty sure I have never seen a clock run bacwards, I'm pretty sure if I did I would probably crap my pants!

I am sure there is a logical explanation, But still to see something like that, I would be in shock.

And to the poster who said all the clocks in the room began running backwards
! Now that is unexplainable, it's understandable for one clock to malfunction and be explained away, it's another for all of them to malfunction in the same manner at the same time!

Weird!

So let's look at the choices...

1) Your clock is defective or,
2) you and you alone entered into a bizarre space-time warp.

Guessing the clock is defective, Skippy.

That would be the logical approach. Assume a natural explainable cause, then investigate it. Check the polarity of the battery in the clock, check if the clock has been damaged or tampered with, etc etc.

To rule the easy stuff out before jumping to paranormal time warp stuff. But alas, to take the logical approach is to be a closed minded disinfo agent.

It's happened to a couple of my clocks before (all analogue and battery powered) the "motors" or "servos" in them are pretty small and sensitive, anything from moisture in the air to cockroach poo could affect them.

See if any one was born in local hospitals around the time you first noticed it. They probably are already an elderly person and they will de-age as time goes by. OR perhaps you are now aging backwards.

It's a curious case.

i wouldn't worry about it to much
your clock is still right twice a day

which is about the same accuracy as a walmart clock running forwards

also if moving backwards, no?
it will cross the right time once each 12
OK I assumed its running at the correct speed more or less...
is it?

Recently, I have noticed that alkaline batteries can reverse polarity when powering electronic voltage converters. The new LED (light emitting diode) Maglite brand metal flashlights, for example, use a voltage converter to match the 6.4 volts produced by 4 D cells in series to the approximate 2 volt supply needed for the white light LED. Sometimes the flashlight dims sharply between uses and on several occasions I have found 3 normal batteries and 1 that has taken on a reverse polarity voltage.

It is very hard to say if this phenomena could also be effecting your clock or if the clock could even run with a backwards voltage applied. But a quick measurement of the battery voltage will determine if this condition could be the reason for your backwards operating clock.

Best regards,
Z
