I saw was a bunch of twenty-somethings snapping photos of how cool they looked in a crowd and twittering. Celebrating in the same way that disgusts Americans when those in the middle east do when one/some of our people are killed.

I said to my girlfriend last night when it happened I was pretty shocked at seeing so many people jumping about and celebrating outside the white house on the news, I understand in a way but just thought celebrating like that was a little in bad taste!

Yes, justice needs to be served. But justice served, and violence celebrated are two different things. Celebrating to the point of riotous behavior doesn't respect those we have lost. I would have much rather seen a candlelight vigil outside the Pentagon, or WTC. Or how about respecting our fallen by visiting our wounded soldiers, and helping their families? We have lost our own. Where is the solemn dignity that goes with this occasion?

ETA: Osama Bin Laden isn't our only enemy. Why fan the flames of those living in sleeper cells within our own borders?

FYI: I replied DIRECTLY to your OP and it appears you are now presenting a "straw man" chicken or egg type argument, but I will kindly oblige. Personally I tend to be anti war and I hope this leads to end of BOTH wars. I am saddened for the loss of those innocent civilians, but as this clip illustrates there is reason to believe the people of those regions will also welcome this news:

"....the killing of thousands of Afghans and brought destruction to the country...relieving news for people of Afghanistan...." - Former Ambassador speaking on death of OBL.

I've been streaming CBC all day to get the election results, and they kept playing up those clips like that was how ALL of America was celebrating. They kept/keep countering those images of how 'jubilant all americans are' with how sober and restrained all Canadians are reacting.

I want to scream at the 'radio' that it isnt ALL americans by any measure.

I'm not so detached from the world that I cannot see why there is happiness that OBL has been killed.

However as a Christian I can't celebrate the failure of man.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be difficult, I was just curious to see what your opinions were on the countless innocent victims of the US Army was. From your post it just suggested to me that you didn't really care... not sure why after re-reading ;D

Capture Bin Laden and place him on trial for crimes against humanity.

I too would have loved to see him face trial as well, so the real secrets of 9/11 could come out. Unfortunately the US government would never allow this, because when the sheeple finally realised the truth (that most of us here already know) of how they had been lied to & manipulated all this time, there would probably be huge riots.

This bears repeating as it mirrors my thoughts.

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one. Not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

Martin Luther King Jnr

Exactly, did the OP notice it was crowds of young kids...
Most people I know are happy he's gone but they aren't dancing in the streets. It was a bunch of school kids who were looking for a reason to stay out late and miss class the next day, that is all.

I have to say that when I saw the people celebrating outside the whitehouse, it soooo reminded me of the propaganda Gaddafi has been airing on his state TV.

My opinion on celebrating somebody's death is echoed in this quote by Martin Luther King Jr...

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. (Sorry, I just realised this quote was already posted. My bad, I didn't scan the thread properly.)

You are 110% right. I am sick of these so called humans celebrating the death of ANYONE. We have killed millions in the Middle East and I am sure many will say that number is too high, but it is not. If the truth is fully known it would be well over one million which includes, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya and soon to be Iran. The shoe is about to drop on the US and one or all of our cities will be glowing. I would hate if that happened but we cannot expect all other countries to bow down and not want to fight back after the murders of their people.

Sept 11 was one day and although many died it does not justify going in and destroying entire countries like the tyrants we are. I blame the Elite Royal Bloodlines who created the Wars so they can live on a planet with fewer slaves. I also blame the US Military the most because if they don't have the brains to think for themselves then we are a lost country. The US Military is posing for pictures with dead Iraqis like it is a game and the brainwashed Americans are chanting USA, USA, USA.

The same people who are chanting USA, USA are being bent over and having their so called freedoms taken from them while they continue to support the murdering troops who are killing Men, Women, and children daily. Do not support this corrupt government any longer. Do not wave the flag and PLEASE do not send your family members to be killed. The government loves when people send their kids to die. Look up Georgia Guide Stones if anyone wants to know what the future holds. The Elite will crawl in their underground bunkers while the rest of American burns. They will be drinking and celebrating while we are starving above ground waiting for their hired Storm Troopers to kill anyone who is left standing. Sorry for the Rant but I am sick of living in this War torn world, and I am sick of people who support the killing machine in this country. Keep playing their sick games and you will also end up dead or worse.

Middle East won for the 9/11. Today America has won. Tomorrow Middle East will hit harder....and this cycle has no end. Pain just create more pain.

Jesus thinks murdering for revenge is evil.

Some guy on CNN said anyone who dislikes the murder of Osama is a terrorist.

I guess that makes Jesus and myself terrorists ?

People who worship death and destruction are so weird and illogical.

I just applauded my wife and her sister in regards to this, they thought it very sad, we as humans would celebrate the death of anyone. It is just an extension of what is wrong with this world and this country. They both are very accepting of human growth and change, but I was amazed at their spiritual growth here. If all could feel this way, all armies would cease to exist and the world would change.
