Looks like I'm going to have beachfront property soon.

Currently the Mississippi is at record highs, and climbing.

I am so sorry for those that are going through this right now. You are in my prayers. It's heart-warming to see people pulling together, being there for one another. I hope to see more of that, and I honestly think we will actually need more of that in the not-so-distant future.

I came here for information from others before the next blast in a few hours. I live 20 miles from the initial blast in Missouri. If you look at a map, I am east of Dexter, on delta farmland. So there are no rock ridges to deflect the blast, and our soils are completely saturated. My home is surrounded with 2 feet of flood water on 3 sides. With the first blast, it took two minutes, and then there was a roar, and my house shook hard enough that artwork fell from my walls.

The Corp has been "transparent" with us...up until this point. The KFVS12 reporter didn't realize...stating..."Maybe we'll be able to hear it". They gave us NO indication that there would be enough energy from the blast to shake our homes. This makes me wonder if they even realized how much energy they were releasing?

I have a theory about why they did the first blast under the cover of darkness. The first blast will be the most dramatic, as far as water rushing through the breached area. By the time day breaks and the third blast occurs, much of the water will have already rushed into the area. It's asinine, because the set-back levee has never been tested to hold up against pressure, much less rushing water. AND it was built in 1937.

I am going to attempt to post a graphic showing the flood area here. The green shaded part is the 130,000+ acres that will be flooded. This image comes from the Birds Point Levee Facebook page, which is run by the Corp. I will also try to attach a link to that info.

God Bless all who live closer to the intentional breach. I hope the Corp knows what it has done. We have traded productive farm land, for a town full of crack houses. A sad day for my area. My state (Missouri) fought for our rights, but in the end, it was futile.

This link will take you to the photo of the area that will be flooded (shaded in green), and from there you can visit the main facebook page for info from the Corp.

I live almost 20 miles away on the Kentucky side and it was freaking scary! My whole house shook and rattled too! Where was the warning that this might happen? I thought it was a quake at first! Roaring and shaking and then Boom! I was froze to my chair! It woke my son! He sleeps through the lawn mower outside his window for petes sake!

I will try to stay up with you as long as I can, I have been telling everyone in my neighborhood, we are going to have a major quake since last Nov. They just thought I had been nipping the wine too much, but all the animals that we feed year round, birds, deer. squirrels, Have been gone since the end of Sept. Never has happened before. Now myself and another neighbor are moving to higher ground. I was planning on moving the 20th, to 1800 ft above sea level, now I am only 306 ft. I just wish I was already moved, may have to up the date. This is going to be one of the worest disasters, because of all the land the CoE plan to destory. The bread basket of the country will be gone. You be safe, and if you and your family have some friends on higher ground go for a visit. God please send us angels.

Thank you! THis is truly saddening! I am only a little over 400 ft above sea level here... there is flooding all around... one thing to come from the initial blast, my brother had to sandbag around his house to try and save it, after the blast, the water went down 3 inches fairly quickly... I will know more in the morning. I just hope they don't awaken the beast with these next two blasts! I will say a prayer for you and yours!
