What would YOU do if you were elected President in November? (When you took office next January, that is.) Let's say that you're the "dark horse" candidate that comes out of nowhere to defeat everyone else in the election, Bush and Kerry included...

What would you do about all the issues? In particular, the one on the top of the list -- Iraq & Afghanistan, al Queada & Osama bin Laden, and protecting the U.S. itself (as in the 50 States & D.C.) from terrorist attacks...

...and all the other issues as well -- the environment, the economy, education, welfare, raw materials (such as oil, steel, and concrete) supplies; Saudi Arabia, Iran, North Korea, China & Taiwan; securing the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders, dealing with illegals in the U.S.; and so on.

So, please share! Forget about what Bush and Kerry say they're going to do; what would you do?

First thing I would do is realize that I am not properly suited for the job. Just like the current candidates.

So I would name a successor that IS. I would pick John McCain. McCain is a man that I feel is well equiped to handle both a war abroad and the matter of domestic security. Senator McCain has a proven track record on domestic issues, and is highly qualified to be a leader in the international community.

i would also beg colin powell to remain as secretary of state. he's the only reason we're not at war with half the planet right now.

Well concerning Iraq I think I would have been painted into a corner I would have to stick with it till the end, pulling out would be a bad mistake in my eyes.

I would put more troops into Afghanistan if needed and pressure/deal whatever I needed to do to get Pakistan to let me go in and get Bin Laden,

I would put military on the border, Even if I had to start a section of the military (Border defense) where If you signed up for it you would only be stationed on the mexican/American border. You would not be sent over to Iraq or other places. Only if numbers were needed for such a action otherwise I would use the National Guard

As for education I would make sure the money actually gets to the schools. Bush has increase funding for schools but the money never gets there it gets hungup in various things. I would fix that right off the bat.

I would help the keep enviromental laws strong, and national parks off limits to any kind of oil drilling

I would try to give large grants to Alternative Energy , such as Wavepower,Solarpower and Windpower also fuels cells. Anything that would help get America off the black crack which is Oil.

What Would I do If elected president.......
#1: Seal off the borders to this country, and deport every single illegal in the country. Then re-open Ellis Island as the only port for Immagrants and closely scrutinize them. The borders would be patroled by the military with a shoot first ask questions later creed. Coming into this country illegally is not only breaking our laws, but invading our soviernty.

#2: To all thise who say illegals take the jobs no one wants...guess what, I have a solution. After the illegals are gone, all those on welfare will fill the jobs they had. My GOVT will help you stay above the poverty level, but your going to get off your lazy ass and do some type of work. If you don't like the menial work you are doing....what better way to motivate you to better yourself and get a better job.

#3: I would kick the Federal Reserve out on its ASS! This country would go back to the gold or silver standard. No more creating money out of thin air...to make rich people who aren't even citizens of this country.

#4: The military would get one hell of a pay raise. These men and women, are willing to risk there lives for our freedom. It's time we treat them like the hero's they are. And first choice for any type of welfare will be our Veterans. And on the subject of the military, I would pull our troops from all the countries they are protecting...ie Germany, South Korea, etc. They don't want us there...then let them fend for themselves. And let them deal with the economic loss. THese troops would do better protecting our borders.

#5: I would re-evaluate the money we send to other countries. We have enough problems at home, lets take care of them first. I have no problems helping friends and allies, who have helped us, but this isn't a charity.

#6: After being sworn in, the 1st thing i'd do is tell the UN to get the F out. They do nothing but try to tear us down....and we give them BILLIONS of $. And what do we get in return, an ungrateful body of pricks.

#7: I would decrease the size of the federal govt, and give power back to the states and local govts. Who know better what is going on in their areas.

#8: Education reform.....this could be long. I'd tell the teachers unions to F.O. This country spends more per student than anyone in the world, and what do we get in return? Nothing but failure and excuses. Each state would be required to set a minimum requirement for education, with a minimum of federal guide lines. Students who don't meet this...they FAIL!!! And they will repeat it. There is no worrying about there feelings...either you learn and pass or you fail and repeat until you pass. Schools doing poorly on a consistant basis will be held accountable. Not just by the federal govt. but by the parents and the local communities. Incompetent teachers will be removed, and replaced with more competent ones. OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE!!!! Time they are treated as such.

#9: The IRS will be restructured. There will be a flat tax that everyone pays, no exemptions. Whether you make $10,000 or $10 million...you pay a flat rate.

#10: According to the Constution, congress has the means to rein in the Judiciary. There will be no more Activists Judges deciding to make laws. That is the job of Congress, and the States. Any judge overstepping this and making laws on their own will be removed and charged as a criminal.

#11: This country will cease to depend on foriegn energy sources. In this day and age, you can't tell me we can't drill for oil and gas, and not still protect the enviroment.

More to come......

CSRules has pointed out many good points but in order to make them real,
One step must be taken and that is to put in place term limits on the members of Congress, until we can get rid of the lifers who really control what happens in this country, none of the good ideas can ever be enacted.

Now saying that, how do we get Congress to pass this reform? Any ideas?

I'm not sure about this idea. There's only so much gold in the world, and most of it is in South Africa. I don't want South Africa determing what money is worth in the U.S....

Well, there's something to be said about "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!"

Keep 'em coming!

I pretty sure America has the largest gold reserve in the world by far. It just comes from Africa it does not stay there. Also I think it would have to spread out across many metals Gold,Silver,Platinum really any metal would be better than nothing

1) have contract workers and humanitists in Iraq, guarded by our troops, help rebuild everything, and once the officials are all set up, start reducing troops slowly.

2) Set up with Japan, Canada, Britian, Russia, Isreal, and any other country willing to cooperate the "United Terrorist Elimination Task Force" (UTETF) to make special forces groups and help weed out terrorist cells together.

3)Make a "temporary Tax Fund Adjustment" to start getting out of debt by getting a "loan" from the US Citizens.

Yeah that's a brilliant idea

If we think about this relationship between money and gold, we can gain some insight into how money gains its value: like the beaver pelts and dried corn, gold is valuable purely because people want it. It is not necessarily useful--after all, you can't eat it, and it won't keep you warm at night, but the majority of people think it is beautiful, and they know others think it is beautiful. Gold is something you can safely believe is valuable. Before 1971, gold therefore served as a physical token of what is valuable based on people's perception.

Fiat money was introduced because gold is a scarce resource and economies growing quickly couldn't always mine enough gold to back their money requirement. For a booming economy, the need for gold to give money value is extremely inefficient, especially when, as we already established, value is really created through people's faith and perception.

$1,755,401,234,000 All the gold in the world - A block with edges 3 metres short of a standard sized tennis court.

1,253,858,024,000 The approximate total of all privately held jewellery, bullion and coin

$102,051,504,000 The US gold reserve fits into a town house.

There's not much gold left elsewhere in the ground either. Approximately 50,000 tonnes (about a third of what is already out) remains un-mined and will cost in excess of $300 an ounce to extract.

Guess I was wrong most of the gold is in private hands

Ok here is my plan for our country.

First we have to totally re-evaluate our plan in Iraq, send more troops there immediately and start pulling reservists out.

I would then begin a plan to build our military by getting more troops through benefits and eliminating boot camp for certain "tech guy" recruits who would work in the underground labs.

As far the economy goes, we have to start with tariffs. Its the only thing that would let us buy American again. It would hurt and the world would hate us.

Also I would push for more literal interpretation of the constitution.

I'd be a bit of an isolationist really.
